Fisher's New Gold Bug Tracker Metal Detector
Andy, NM replied to Reno Chris's topic in First Texas 19 kHz Detectors Forum
No, the Iron Bias is NOT a simplified Funktion of the Discrimination/Tone Break setting from the GBP. Iron Bias and Disc are two different things. On the Gold Bug Pro Iron Bias is fixed internal. I have both units and a report of the engineer what is does and why. It is a new feature only available on the GB Tracker/Africa. Andy -

Don't think it was easy for me to get that combo. But, yes as their EU Master Distributor I may have an advantage. Also I'm the "father" of the Teknetics Eurotek Pro, which was my concept idea to make it. I offered the company to by 1000 units if they would make it. They did make it and I bought many more than 1000. The Eurotek Pro was a huge success in Europe and that may be another reason the FTP boss listens to what I come up with. Christina, who is a treasure hunter, liked the GB too. Andy -

The knob on the right side is NOT discrimination, it is IRON BIAS. How it works (short version): To use Iron Bias you click out of the All Metal position. Knob all the way counterclockwise is setting +50, all the way clockwise it is -50. At about 12 a clock position it is 0. Important: No matter where you set it, if the detector is SURE about the target beeing IRON it will ignore the signal, no tone. At +50 it will let a WEAK signal through, if it isn't sure IRON or small Gold. You decide to dig or not. (Large Iron still rejected). At 0 is works like classic discrimination, VDI numbers from 0 to 40 are ignored. At -50 it will only let WEAK signal through, if it "things" the target is NOT Iron. In a nutshell: It is a control how the unit handles weak signals in the iron range. You can not disc out none Iron targets. Most detectors have a fixed Iron Bias to irgnore Iron, but often it will ID weak silver or gold signals as Iron. I dig many deep small roman coins by watching the depth/target strength meter in combination with the VDI number. A weak small signal with a VDI number of 30 is often not Iron, because it is a "pulled down" higher VDI number at less depth. I laugh at the guys, who hunt with me, who disc out the iron range. I walk behind them and pull the deep silver and gold coins, because of my technic. Andy -

Realy, this is not about advertising. First, when I played with it (Gold Bug Africa)I thought: Just an entry level detector until I put the 11DD on it and tested it on my friends test field with roman coin. Next we used it in real hunts and the results speak for themself. Here we are, out in the field with user of other brand detectors and we Gold Bug "classic" detector user are impressing the user of modern "have 100 settings" detectors. But with all that said, my personal number one is the Teknetics T2. Best regards from Germany. I'm standing at the river "Mosel" close to a roman side with my RV to hit the side in the morning. T2 and GB Tracker sleep next to me. LOL Andy -

Well, I need to have a coil not to large. The 11DD is a great size/depth combo. -

For Europe I requested from FTP to create a Gikd Bug Tracker with a coil bundle. I buy it now with the 5" and 11"DD. You nugget hunters only look at it as a small gold nugget detector, but I also testet it on small Celtic and Roman coins here in Germany. It finds Roman and Celtic coins in a day worth more than the retail price of the detector (Used the 11DD coil). The fun part is that you just have to turn it on and start hunting. No settings to adjust. Also very quiet until a target hits. -

Not realy. When I order I can't see what's in stock in the US and I have to wait for production too. Who orders first gets the product first, simple as that. Andy -

I can not send you a PM here. Email me at detectorandy@yahoo.de please. Andy -
Hello Steve, well... I fought cancer years ago and survived. Great to see you and many other hunters I have seen already more than 20 years ago. Also saw Dan from NM is still around. The passion for metal detectors never dropped. I'm pretty busy selling FTP detectors and wonder about the fact that all the FTP "classic" units still sell well in Europe. We "old" hunter should all meet at an event somewhere. Coolest hobby in the world. I hope you are doing fine too. Andy

Thanks for adding me to the forum. Data: Andreas Meyer, aka Andy, NM From 1965, detecting since over 30 years German with 10 years in New Mexico (Holloman AFB 1996 to 2000 and 2002 to 2008). Technican in the German Air Force from 1985 to 2020. Retired military now. I started selling FTP brand detectors in 2008 and became the Master Distributor for their brands 2023 for the EU. Brands: Teknetics, Fisher, Bounty Hunter. I have used them all...Tesoro, C-Scope, Minelab, Troy, Garrett, Nokta, XP, Whites and many others. A collection of metal detectors is in my basement. Whites XLT, DFX, Troy X3, Tesoro Silver umax to name some older units next to Manticore, XTerra Pro, Equinox 700, T2 LTD and F75 LTD and Teknetics G2+. Most of the time I use the Teknetics T2, because we just work great together. G2+ is my second love, because it is so stable until it hits a target. Agressive on smallest coins. Hope to share some information with you. Andy

Yes, the F19, Gold Bug Pro, G2+ coils are the same and will work in the Tracker. -

Hello from Germany to all readers. After I read all the posts about the Fisher Gold Bug "Tracker" I thought I jump in here and give you my 2 Cents on the unit. The Tracker has a frequency of 19 KHz for sure. Not 15. I have the unit and "played" with it for two weeks. I also have almost ALL Fisher and Teknetics detectors, because I use them and I'm the FTP Master Distributor for the EU. I started treasure hunting about 30 years ago. Why the Gold Bug Tracker? The GB Tracker was created to make the use af a good performing nugget detector as easy as possible with the African marked in mind. In fact the first tracker I had in my hands was the GB Africa with some extra stuff in the box (Charger, rechargable battery, shovel, headphones). First thought was: Who is buying a "stripped down" Fisher Gold Bug Pro, F19/ Teknetics G2+ ? Lake many here I can handle the most complex detectors available on the market. But, I learned that the Tracker/GB Africa has full automatic ground tracking AND updating. Also the control on the right side is NOT classic discrimination, it is IRON BIAS control or All Metal. The more I played with it, the more I wanted it for Europe. I have many customers, who would like to metal detect, but they don't want to mess around with settings. This GB Tracker is the easiest to use good performing detector ever, not only for nuggets. What does the user needs to do? Just turn it on, set Sens/Gain to 100 in All Metal and start finding stuff. That it is made for! It hits a classic german gold ring at about 10 inches with the 5" coil. (Air test). In every trash camp ground it will separate all Euro and german Mark coins from the trash. It will hit hard on small gold jewelry. If I turn the right control clockwise out of All Metal, it will disc out iron. I went to a test field, where a friend has burried 4 small roman coins. Many detectors hit the first 2, a few the third, only high dollar detectors the forth, but the GB Tracker (we put the 11DD coil from the Fisher Gold Bug Pro on it) hit them all very clear. My friend wanted it right away, but I only had one. He had a field in mind where he had found Celtic coins before. Well , I gave it to him and the next day he sent me a picture of a coin he found on that side. That coin alone would have paid for the detector if he had to buy it. Well, I believe he could have found the coin with the Fisher F19, GB Pro, G2+ also, because my tests showed, that the threshold based All Metal Modes of these models go even deeper. If you know how to set threshold, adjust GB. But these settings are just not needed on the Tracker. It is power made easy to use. You can give it to a friend who just has no clue how to operate a detector. It will make him/her a treasure hunter in a minute. BTW: Many airlines don't want you to pack detectors with a build in rechargable battery in you luggage. With the GB, no problem. Remove the battery and travel. Best regards Andreas from Germany (Andy, NM)
