In some glazing lead might be the reason. And in some ceramics other metals, conductive, are present. Very low vdi’s. I often only notice when I test it if pottery comes up with a find.

Hi Thought I let you know my first two days of using a silencing kit for the ML 105 headphones. I found the wind noise and the frogs quite loud when using the 105's. So I started to look for a solution that would not set me back several hundred euro's. I got a tip in a facebook group. There was supposed to be a silencing kit. I found it, ordered it and have been testing it the last two days, about 10 hours of detecting. First day quite windy.. It is easy to implement, took me about 4 minutes for the two cups. It consist of 4 inserts (2 per cup) and a tool to help remove the cups. The major difference is that the windnoise and other external sounds are not feeling as if they are in my ear, they are nou outside the headphones. It is not silnced, so there is still feedback from the outside. I personally found it well worth the 20 euro they cost me. No adds allowed here, so if you like the link to the company (UK), let me now personally. You will have to deal with them. Small supply in the NL as well available. Ton

Hi, Sorry, missed this one. A screenshot doesn't show it quite clearly, but we wil give it a try. There are 4 screenshots. I left the volume out, that should be easy enough. I added the life is simpel, with my changes in it, the lines start bold for the changes. Step 1 Factory Reset. Step 2 Select Settings. Step 3 Set volume to desired level. Step 4 Keep at All Terrain General. Step 5 Perform Rolling Noise Cansel until you get steady numbers. Step 6 Ground Balance set to zero. Step 7 Recovery set to 4 (I swing fairly slow as per the manual, about 2-3sec swing and back. Step 8 Discrimination Pattern no change. ID Range 0-4 V (on) Step 9 Ferrous Limits Top 7 Bottom 2 Step 10 Ferrous Tones -> Stabilizer set to 1. Step 11 Target Tones set to 2 Region T1 start 0 Volume 0 T1 End 4 T2 Start 5 Pitch 20 T2 Volume 25 T2 End 99 Pitch 40 Step 12 Audio Theme Normal then click edit and set to profile medium (slight feedback on fi depth) Step 13 Start detecting with sensitivity at 20 and slowly click by click increase the sensitivity until it starts to iron falsing then reduce by one click. This should be then the best setting for your ground. I am running this program with the 11" inch coil at around 24 25 sensitivity and with the 9" coil 26-27. If you are still getting some iron falsing then increase the stabilizer from 1 to 2 and increase one step at a time until clear. Good luck and happy hunting

Is The Manti Depth Indicator More Pessimistic Than The Nox800?
TdG replied to CliveHamy's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
I think you actually answered the why yourself. So, what is left, is to adapt to it. Dig and measure which seems to me the only right way. If you dig and find it is to deep for the context, fill the hole and ready. You can’t use a, any metal detector to measure depth. Even if it could, how sure are you the ground is not disturbed? My opinion on the matter. personally, I never ever look at it. I already noticed quickly that is often wrong, worse on doubtful signals. Good luck -
Hi, I am in the Netherlands and the sites I hunt contain a lot of iron, big and small. What I am using is a slightly adapted version of Life can be Simple by Luc van Assche. This setup gives a machine that is stable and not chatty. As someone else says, if you have one, go for the 9" or if you have the 8" take that one. Step 1 Factory Reset. Step 2 Select Settings. Step 3 Set volume to desired level. Step 4 Keep at All Terrain General. Step 5 Perform Rolling Noise Cancel until you get steady numbers. Step 6 Ground Balance set to zero. Step 7 Recovery set to 5. My setting is 4, I swing not to quick Step 8 Discrimination Pattern no change. Step 9 Ferrous Limits click edit and set upper limit to 8 and lower to 2. Mine are 7-2 Step 10 Ferrous Tones -> Stabilizer set to 1. Step 11 Target Tones set to 1-Region All Tones. My setting is 2 Region All Tones, TDI 0-4 P1 V0 TDI 5-99 P=20-40 V=25 Step 12 Audio Theme Normal then click edit and set to profile simple. My setting is Medium Step 13 Start detecting with sensitivity at 20 and slowly click by click increase the sensitivity until it starts to iron falsing then reduce by one click. This should be then the best setting for your ground. If you are still getting some iron falsing then increase the stabilizer from 1 to 2 and increase one step at a time until clear. Happy Hunting

I think the fact that you wrote that you would not dig a 66 triggered the answer. I also thought what? I am digging 5 and up. You would be missing almost all here in the Netherlands. Britain even worse, those thin hammered coins go down very low. Further the TID’s change considerably by the corrosion on the object, ground and if it’s on it’s side. That on the same object. So I don’t think a test on that object will help you. Better go out and find some nice things. 😀 happy hunting

Ty, it indeed helped! I am already changing to more barebone settings. Mainly busy to change the audio part to suit my hearing.

I have and now I know you can’t in the way I wanted. But I asked because a manual is a great starting point, but experience is good for creative solutions.

What kHz Are The Different Programs Using?

I assume he wants to know if any standard program is not using MultiIQ. Your background made you move in a way to technical answer. I might however be wrong 😀 -

I think you are wondering if they for instance change from Multi IQ to 5kz if you choose high conductive program? I can tell you that all standard available programs are MultiIQ. If you look at the end of the manual, there are all the default settings. -
I added one from Utrecht, the Zwolle one is in the attic. I found this one the day before. This is 1679 and in better condition, no more silvers after that.

Yes I did, but it is not about programming, it is about the technology and how to use it efficiently. I now walk the detector without threshold, Iron sounds off and a 5 tone that I changed. Id's 1-17 no volume. The rest divided in groups fitting the places I hunt. Reasons, I like my peace and quiet, but mainly I do not like the dips in the threshold, there is so much trash (old, but trash) that it dips nearly every second. The discrimination is set as per the Freestyle program, trashy roman areas. It is a way to run it quiet and gives me opportunity to see if I can hear the better tones in between the rest of the noises. Today for the first time I thought, I am getting there. The only problem that can't be solved is the VDI region of 19-21, that is where a lot of the lead comes in. But we have marker leads for cloth and other stuff, I like those. Today I dug about 25 peaces of lead, different sizes. Yesterday I had a 2 stuiver peace from Zwolle, 1680, very close to some old copper piping. The piping (30 cm long) came in at around VDI 90. I had a coin weight coming in a a disturbed signal. 90-34, changing positions lead to the conclusion there was a more or less stable signal from 31-35 in between the rest. I am happy I dug it.

TY, I know about the 'small' gold, but the chance finding it is too small to be interesting for now. I am trying to make a special setup that makes, that a target is as good as possible a good target to save time. Due to the options of the detector it makes my mind think about so many options. For instance, what if you do not define a volume and pitch for a certain region of VDI's, what will happen. Will it fall silent? 😄

Has anyone ever registered VDI's in a live situation? I have found some air test registrations. Especially interested in European ones. In my use of the Manticore, there are appearing blocks of interesting, non interesting and combined VDI's. For instance a VDI of 10 or 11 is nearly all ways foil of chocolate etc. VDI's around the 20/21 are pull tabs but also led objects. I was looking int blocking out, or the other way including some especially. I will most probably have some permissions on some building sites with some pollution over old ground. I am looking for a way to scan the sites quickly as they most probably will be open to detecting for a limited time. Building is quick these days.
