  1. the short answer is yes! Tesoro will be silent when set high with an occasional "crackle" on larger junk. you will find coins amongst the aluminum. Tesoro's are a ton of fun with a small concentric on board! (h.h.!) j.t.
  2. sorry for the late reply. yes! I agree as the earlier versions were a "bear" to use in just about any hunting environment. noisy as hell, and tough to stabilize. they " were' better later on, but by that time most had moved on to other detectors. not sure if fisher is still a player,as they keep dragging their feet. believe they are all done. they are a big corporate entity involved in other areas,so it tells me the interest in the hobby market may be over. (h.h.!) j.t.
  3. it is difficult to argue with you as what you say is sooo true, however,i still take issue with you because of the f-75 which was a crackerjack detector, and "very" innovative when introduced!..seems like they have just "stopped" and went in another direction.perhaps carl Moreland can shed some light on what gives with fisher!..I'm just sayin' (h.h.!) j.t.
  4. well then what the heck is going on carl? can you enlighten us in any way with what fisher is up to?..seems there is no publicity coming from fisher these days! why is that? just curious! inquiring minds would like to know! ..thanks! (h.h.!) j.t.
  5. hi carl! what about tom dankowski's calibration efforts on the cz-3d? did this make any difference in the "true" over all performance of the analog circuit?. apparently, this circuit was a "bear" to calibrate, but from what everything I have read, once it was "calibrated properly" it would NOT drift for many years.tom introduced the "changes" to the cz-3d so as to "extend" the life of the unit.i still believe it is a terrific coin sniper, and sooo easy, and a joy to use in the field.perhaps as you mentioned the complicated circuitry has contributed to it's present financial predicament, and the fact that t is NOT a digital design has been it's downfall. apparently it is not cost effective to produce.but it hung on. for along time, because guys know how good it is as a coin detector. (h.h.!) j.t.
  6. whitey's "dead nuts" accurate meter made for a very enjoyable hunt. the "black max" 5.3 concentric coil was excellent in the trash. it seems that when that meter "locked up" on high penny, or dime, along with the nice "smooth" hit ya always had silver. I would buy another one in a new York minute,IF I could find one for "short money!" the 4 pole design went deep, and was excellent for covering open sports fields, and other wide open parks. one of whitey's best! (h.h.!) j.t.
  7. I just missed my chance at the axiom with the mega bucks loss! oooh well! ..just sayin' (h.h.!) j.t.
  8. this is correct! nuances afforded by analog are very telling ,IF you will take the time to ''study" and learn them. once the Tesoro mojave, and compadre's audio is "learned",those detectors become "surgical instruments" (h.h! j.t.
  9. it can be any of the "single tone" tesoros!..I'm partial to the mojave, which I believe is still analog. (h.h.!) j.t.
  10. tom! you can talk a 'snake" back into it's hole! ehe! heh !he! (h.h!) j.t.
  11. never hunted with the ex 800,but hunt with my "Mojave" all the time with high disc. the Tesoro will find stuff in iron and aluminum just fine! they "recover" fast enough to separate well in the "junk!' (h.h.!) j.t.
  12. they will totally ignore iron if set to eliminate, and "grab" nonferrous right in the middle of it! isn't that what "tall money" detectors are trying to do? (h.h.!) j.t.
  13. yeah! I use my "Mojave" for the strips too! great little sniper! both compadre and Mojave use the 180 disc. (h.h.!) j.t.
  14. believe it or notyou don't always "need" to go deep to find good stuff! tesoros will "grab" silver all day long with disc. set high! outrageous in iron, and to cherry pick with! get one that balances out the ground and have at it! the 180 disc. and small concentric will do the rest! still a ton of stuff in the "junk!" go low and slow! (h.h.!) j.t.
  15. secret is in the "sauce!" $1,500.00 "sauce!" "pretty sweet tasting!" (h.h.!) j.t.
  16. tesoro single tone detectors with 6",or 7" concentric coils on board are "beasts " in iron as you have determined with the compadre. if set properly, will "grab" silver in nails. I have the "Mojave" with the 7" precision coil and use it to hunt "curb strips" with it's 180 disc. can pick out goodies in iron all day long.compadre also has the 180 disc. beware the hunter who uses one detector, and knows it well. (h.h.!) j.t.
  17. every m.d.i. was loaded with practical, useful info. (h.h.!) j.t.
  18. hi carl! still feel bad about whitey! cut my teeth on their equipment! I realize kenny was getting old, but still feel they should have loosened up the purse strings, and brought a "sharp" engineering crew on board. found a 'ton" of stuff with sweet home's designs...I'm just sayin' (h.h.!) j.t.
  19. mr. moreland! when is ftp comin' out with new stuff? anything in "skunk works"? don't want them to lose their "place in line!" (h.h.!) j.t.
  20. this is spot on. if you take the time to "learn" the various "audio nuances", then the tesoro with a "small coil" will reward you. the beauty of an analog tesoro is that you can run the disc. in max, and still get deep enough in "junked out" parks to "pop" silver that's been missed by other high priced detectors.the "real" accomplishment though,is learning the "audio" on the various items in the ground. the tesoro "excels" in audio "modulation" on deeper hits.this gives additional information on the item detected, usually a deeper ''coin." (h.h.!) j.t.
  21. the 6" and 7" concentrics are the best coils for tesoro. outrageous in nail beds, and iron. am amazed the 5.75" can be found at all period. (h.h.!) j.t.
  22. in my experience, this is "dead nuts" accurate! (h.h.!) j.t.
  23. use a Tesoro "Mojave" w/7" thin concentric coil for hunting 'curb strips" sometimes for fun will set it for 'coins" in disc. like you, detector is a ton of fun, and "loves" silver! I get down around 7 or 8" with great audio modulation on deeper hits even in full disc. absolute "joy" to use. (h.h.!) j.t.
