  1. I read many posts about people trying to improve their XP Deus 2 setup including myself. This is the very reason I sold my remote, it kept falling off the mount, my antenna wire corroded from the inside , shaft isn't long enough for tall people, and changing gray plug to red plug... I kept the WS6 master , bought Steve's straight shaft and zip tied the puck mount to the stem mount so it won't come off. I no longer use a deus for water hunting. Manticore does all of that very well and with zero hassle. I love XP products, but the entire shaft , mounting system needs a complete overhaul IMO. I use the Anderson XP pistol grip mount on Steve's straight shaft and a minelab monster 1000 arm cuff. I also use a simplex entire shaft , removed display and coil and made a mount for the puck and that works great. And they all work better than the stock XP Deus shaft for me.
  2. Well this setup would work for the remote also and it would swivel so you can turn the screen in a position you want and the handles hollow and goes down into the shaft so you could always run your antenna wire on the inside of the shaft if you wanted
  3. This is why I sold the remote and kept the WS6 master. But I still zip tied the WS6 mount to the mount that attaches to the shaft that way it would virtually be impossible for it to ever fall off again.
  4. I like that too. I just put on my carbon fiber center shaft and arm cuff. Weight of entire shaft without WS6 mount or coil is 14oz. Feather light.
  5. Ok I have seen recently people using the simplex shaft for the deus. I have been also. The shaft is already the same shape and lower works on the coils so why not. Here is what I did. I took the display unit and the coil off of a simplex plus. Why? Because the don't sell for much more than $100 bucks since all the newer ones are out and a aftermarket shaft costs $200 or more so here I am. I ordered an XP mount from Anderson shafts , the one they use on their XP Deus shafts. I then cut off a piece of carbon fiber shaft that I had lying around, 7/8" I believe. Took maybe 5 mins to make and it's done. You have a carbon fiber shaft, lower, middle and plastic upper, it's longer so I don't have to buy a tall man shaft, and it's as compact as the XP deus factory shaft. But way more comfortable. Plus the remote or WS6 can swivel in any direction you want for better viewing. And this just slides snuggly into the open grip that the simplex display was removed from. It fits snug so will never come out on its own. You can also add a screw through original hole if desired. But I only use the WS6 so I remove it while on beach and just use the WS6 as headphones with no display since I dig everything that isn't iron. Here are some pics. Hope you like.
  6. I use a simplex entire shaft. I'm gonna order the carbon fiber center shaft. With the aluminum center the entire shaft included coil hardware and arm cuff and strap only weighs 1 lb 1.2 oz. So 17.2 oz which may even be less than the stock deus shaft. It's also longer by 3" or more so I don't need a tall man rod anymore. I used the Anderson mount to mount onto top of grip to mount the remote or in my case WS6 master. Works great! Feels much better than stock.
  7. This coin actually is the same size maybe even a fraction of a millimeter smaller thank you for going through the trouble and looking for a match. They're so few coins out there that could match this description you very well could be right
  8. I want you guys to give me your opinion on this here's a couple of pictures I found this at the beach in the wet sand ringing up as iron on the legend. When I picked it up it looked like the size of a penny so I threw it in my pouch and saved it till I got home I cleaned it up and they're silver coloring on the coin , I thought well maybe it's silver and it's just really destroyed from the saltwater. But then I stuff a magnet to it and it stuck The only other thing that I can think of it being is the 1943 steel penny. I have a few of them so I compared the size and what's left of it looks just like it but why would it be silver in color after the saltwater got a hold of it for however long it looks like it's been in the water for a long time it's got holes through it. I know they're silver and color when they're used and uncirculated but I've heard of people finding them in the ground and it was just nothing but a clot of rust and they thought it might have been a steel penny. What's your thoughts thanks edit my steel pennies do not have reeded edges. Now I don't know. Lol
  9. I only use WS6 master with wsa II headphones setup. I have the puck mount zip tied to the plastic stem mount. Will never fall off.
  10. So this update won't erase saved programs on my ws6?
  11. Well it wasn't about the quality of his work that was concerning me because I've used his shafts before and they're fantastic. It was about me and my 3XL hands and the way the WS6 master locks onto the stem mount. It's about a half inch lower than the remote and my hand rubs the remote at times but with the puck my hand will literally knock it off plus it rubbing on my hand so much it kind of a annoying. Here are a couple of pictures of the Anderson shaft it's actually quite nice and since I was able to lower the weight down I'll probably just use it I don't see any benefit right now. In the pictures you can see even with my big hands there's plenty of room on the handle. Plus it has a swivel so you can turn the remote or the WS6 master towards you so you'd have a better viewing of it. Also I zip tied as you can see in the one picture The puck mount to the stem mount so there's zero chance of it falling off so I just popped the WS6 into the puck mount and when I need to take it off I just pop it back out The mount stays on the stem mount. But yeah this thread was not too bash Steve in any way because he makes amazing products I've used them I've talked to him a few times and message him a few times so I know what he does is amazing I'm just an oddball because I wear a 17 shoe and a 3X glove and it's hard to find things that are comfortable for me. The old white's machines that I used for 20 some years 30 years The handle is never big enough for my hands so I had the three finger it all them years because the pinpoint trigger was in the way lol
  12. When I use the stock XP shaft I always use the legend or simplex carbon fiber lower rod they're about two and a half inches longer and they help since I'm tall but I sold off that shaft with the remote or coil a complete unit and I kept back the WS6 master one of my coils and the WSA two headphones and then I purchased the Anderson shaft which actually works really well. But it is a little heavier I was able to lighten it yesterday by about 3.4 oz so it's only about 2 oz heavier now than the stock Deus shaft or Steve's shaft. So I may end up just having to keep this and use it since I'm not built like normal people lol. Thank you very much for that information I appreciate it That's exactly what I was looking for
  13. Well the WS6 master sits about a half of an inch lower once snapped into place on the stem. Yes I have very large hands. When the puck is on the xp deus shaft it hangs low enough to hit my hand. A few times it had popped off due to that. At the moment I'm using an Anderson carbon fiber shaft with a swivel mount and it's working but it's a heavier shaft by several ounces.
  14. If anyone is using a carbon fiber shaft made from Steve's Detectors Rods and use the ws6 master , can you tell me how good it fits? How much hand room I would have on the hand grip.. on the stock D2 shaft the puck mount sits a little lower and takes up my hand space. Let me know. Thanks.
  15. I will only use a cover in a extreme rocky areas. But I haven't used the cover on my coils and probably 20 for more years. Some of these new covers barely stay on ... Never had a problem with any of my coils.
  16. Well everyone that wanted the manticore got tired of waiting so they bought the equinox and figured once the manticore became available then sell one to buy the other.
  17. Well that stinks. I slid that white nylon washer in there so the picture would show how round the hole was. This is the first XP coil I've ever owned that is like this. I send a text to my dealer to see what he thinks so I know what to do. But I don't think this is right I think these have to be defective. I can't imagine XP making a perfectly round circle when they use that wedge knowing if the coil pivots that wedge is going to pivot with the coil and the wind nut has a little rubber washer built onto it so it's going to grip that wedge and that wedge is going to turn that wing nut and loosen it every single time the coil moves.
  18. Ok I have a d2 11x13 coil and this is the first XP Deus coil I've ever owned that doesn't have that hour glass shaped hole for the wedge piece to slide into. Mine is a perfectly round hole and my bolt never stays tight, it loosens constantly. My other XP coils never became loose . Is my coil defective? Or is this normal? Every pic incan find online has the usual hour glass shaped hole on the one side for that wedge just like in one of the pics I shared. Can you guys that have one please give me some feedback on what your coil has? Thanks.
  19. I was mainly talking about the idea of a folding mount since these are 3D printed all you'd have to do is print out a filler piece to make up that little gap in there or just fill the whole top mount in so it's a permanent piece. So it would be an easy fix
  20. I'm aware of all of this as I've been listening to tones for over 40 years and using the cross method along with others. I was mainly talking about the smooth tones with a decent round dot above or below center line not touching it. People were complaining about falsing on nail heads with smooth tones and it mimics the sound of coin tones with smooth edges. This usually happens when sensitivity is set too high and maybe using ATHC . Using ATLC pretty much completely eliminated this. But I was also trying to gather Information on how often are people finding good keepers that do not show up on, or touching center line. That's all .
  21. Just wanna say every non-ferrous target I dug was at least touching center line on TT. I did dig a few kind of round blobs above center line that had jumpy numbers but a decent tone and they were all iron.
  22. I went on a hunt today to a heavily hunted site here in my town. I used the deus 2 there often. So often it had been several hunts since I was able to pull out any non-ferrous targets. So I ran my manticore over it for 2 hours. The more I use this machine the more I like it. I got a solid hit with an id of 91-93 with a long blotch on the right side of the target trace that went from top to almost bottom with a slight gap on center line where another blotch was but was round. I was able to turn 90 and hit it close to as good. This was using ATLC. I set up all of the AT modes with as close to same setting as possible so I could switch modes and check targets. Well on this target HC was the worst mode. Fast mode gave the best clearest signal with LC and General close. HC had ID bouncing around pretty bad. So I dug and found a silver Washington quarter at around 7", a bent nail right beside it on the right and a huge rusty nail looking item on the left and a little deeper then a wheat penny under it. I could clearly tell iron in the ground but also clearly here and see target id to know a good Target was down there. I also dug 2 more mercury dimes with some iron in the hole with them and some copper and brass odds and ends. Pretty impressed.
  23. That's good news that you're digging deeper than you ever were in your dirt. I'm in southern Alabama just a few miles from the coast so my dirt has nowhere close to what yours would be but I'm digging much deeper than I feel I ever have done with any detector on a regular basis. I mean I'm finding 22 lead bullets at 9-10 in deep with a clear repeatable signal and a solid 71/72 on the screen with iron in the hole. Now I've dug a few deep targets with some detectors that surprised me of how deep certain targets were, but I'm digging a lot of deep targets with a manticore and only using 20 sensitivity. But I checked today also and I did not dig any good targets unless the target trace was touching the center line. I did dig quite a few targets that sounded good had good ID on the screen but the target trace was not on the center line they ended up being iron or some other type of junk metal just like every other time. But I know somebody has to be digging good keepers with the manticore where the target trace was not touching that center line. And that's what I'm hoping people will start chiming in here and letting me know what their experiences are.
