  1. I had coil bolt as tight as I could without thinking it would break. I checked coil for tightness several times and it was stiff but still moved a little . Enough to cause wear. Sand gets trapped in there and you have to remove coil bolt to wash it all out which I did every time. So I bought the Anderson shaft so I could snug it down more since it used 2 washers. And it does get much tighter without the feeling of breaking bolt.
  2. Here is a couple pics of my stock Deus 2 lower shaft and inner coil ear. That's beach hunting but only a couple times. This is why I purchased the Anderson shaft.
  3. Okay I checked my Anderson lower where it meets the coil. There is daylight using a flashlight between that divot and the coil between the ears and the lower rod. And since it's not being pushed against that divot if it scratches it a little bit with some sand down in there it's probably not going to hurt it much as opposed to like the coil ears when you're pushing the rod against the ear there could be constant grinding on that ear which in time would weaken it. So as of now I'm not changing anything I don't see a problem with it I can stick a piece of paper in between there and it fits in there fine plus I can see daylight underneath it
  4. I was getting wear from the stock lower shaft of the Deus 2. It was on the non rubber washer side. I do have the Anderson shaft and I don't use the centering cone clevis whatever you want to call it I just use the rubber washers and the bolt because I want the rubber washers on both sides of the lower rod to be tight against the ears of the coil to make the coil is rigid as possible so it doesn't pivot. But I will check and see if there's any space underneath the lower rod in that little divot area if there isn't then I will go ahead and send a little bit of it off myself.
  5. The Anderson shaft has a great fit at the coil. Has adjustable mount for the remote to angle it for better viewing. Use any stock XP Deus remote mount. I'm 6'4" and the shaft is only on third adjustment length wise and has 5 more adjustments. Very solid carbon fiber shaft great for water hunters. Also the remote mounts flush to the hand grip making it much easier to .ake adjustments. To be honest I don't think any of this would matter if XP came out with a better designed lower rod made for water.
  6. Well my understanding is xp didn't want to put any pressure on the coil ears so they use one washer and use the little cone fitting to shove the lower rod over to sandwich the washer between the one coil ear and the lower rod. That way there is no pressure on the ears. Only on the rubber washer. It's a fantastic design for land hunting. But for salt water hunters and beach hunters where the coil needs to be tighter and more sealed at the joints then we'll a trailer brake is needed or a second rubber washer to help keep coil firmly mounted. I feel the lower rods needs refinement... Make it carbon fiber and make it have the trailer brake (second washer). If someone could just build a lower like that alone then it would be so helpful.
  7. So for the record here is the washer side of the 11 inch coil and the lower shaft. Zero wear. You would probably never have a problem. But as you see the non-washer side has them little cavities that probably holds sand and I imagine the coil ear is wearing near the bottom more because the sand will fall out the bottom first that's a poor design for salt water hunters. if one wanted to keep using that stock shaft then maybe use some JB weld and fill in them divots so sand can't be stored in there? I'm not sure what the answer would be or like gigmaster did and I also did it temporarily is use a legend or simplex lower carbon fiber shaft I may go ahead and pick up another one and do a little quick fix to get it to work on the stock lower shaft. But for now I'm just going to use my Anderson shaft for everything. And you can even see there's still some salt a little crumb of salt left in one of them little divots and that's after it was washed just spray it down it was actually stuck in there I had to take a pic to remove it for whatever reason it was just like glued itself inside that coil divot. It would be great if XP would at least offer a different lower rod with two washers for saltwater hunters or Beach hunters cuz you probably won't have this problem if you're just diving, or just land hunting. I would imagine it's always going to be the beach hunters that may go into a foot of water or so that's going to have the problem. So if XP is looking at the forms I would hope that they would maybe design a carbon fiber lower rod with the use of two washers ..
  8. Mine has some wear on the non rubber washer side ear. I salt water hunt and wash very well after each hunt. I have the coil as tight as I can get it without breaking something. The lower rod also has severe wear on the non rubber washer side. It has to be happening during the hunt on sand as I do wash unit very well after each hunt so it can't be wearing from lots of sand left behind while I'm land hunting . The coil moving just 1/4" can cause wear when sand is involved. I did buy the Anderson carbon fiber shaft and it uses washers on each side. I bought it because the washer side of the Deus shaft looked great . So I'm hoping I have no more wear issues . The shaft itself feels great. A couple small mods and it's ready to go.
  9. Also the factory case that connects to like a belt will work I've seen people using them and just let it hang off of their belt and when I get a Target they just look down at it and it's perfect
  10. That's what I just did. I have 11" coil now. Want the 9" coil so I purchased the complete Deus 2 with 9 " coil.
  11. One thing I've noticed with the D2 is every time I'm out I find quite a few on edge coins to the point where you're hearing beeps on each side of it. I've been digging a lot of older deep plaid mixed in with a few Mercury dimes and Rosie's etc lots of nickels and they're coming in crystal clear almost like how could any other machine have missed this.
  12. Said if you tie a piece of braided line maybe 100 lb test 150 lb test that she's for fishing in a circle then loop it through the eyelet on the remote and then loop the line through itself just like you would do with the regular Lanyard, then just leave it on there and when you go metal detecting just slide your lower rod out with your coil on slide the loop over the center shaft all the way up to the top where your remote attaches pop your remote on slide your lower shaft back in and now there's really no way to lose it.
  13. Use a piece of 150 lb test super line or braided fishing line and then use a velcro strap to strap it to the shaft. Then you could make it as long as you needed
  14. It fits , but it's the cam that makes it slightly tighter. Plastic which gives vs carbon fiber that don't. I've used a simplex lower and yes it is more snug but you can use a razor blade and remove just a fraction of the cam stop material and it fits great.
  15. Use a simplex carbon fiber lower or a legend lower. They fit and with a very small mod the coil works fine on it. Or buy a tall man center rod as it adds 5" and less of the lower will be sticking out and flexes less.
  16. I had 8-3-22 version and installed 11-3-22 version and did not lose my saved programs. I had a couple glitches , pinpointer took too long to connect was one. Tones didn't act 100% right to me. But seems fine now.
  17. I did the update and noticed no difference .. however in the past I have had an issue with the way my computer installed the download and had to redownload the update which worked perfectly. May just be a bug in the first download. Try it again.
  18. Make sure your bottle cap adjustment is on zero I noticed that on several programs maybe all of them if I have the bottle cap turned on in other words one two three four five It makes the nickel all broken up. I can hear it okay in one and two but once I hit three to five it just about disappears so I run my bottle cap adjustment on zero. I'm not sure how this would affect the beach hunters like myself as I have not tested on the beach yet to see if I was eliminate gold by running the bottle tap adjustment up but that's what I would start with on my part program and my deep high conductor program I can hit my 9 inch nickel on my test garden very cleanly as long as my bottle cap adjustment is on zero
  19. My dealer told me all dealers only received 1 deus 2 each for their customers.. I was number 2 on the list. Lol. What a bummer.. oh well it's only been in the 60's here so it's not like I can go detecting anyway lol. Looks like March or April
  20. Since the chip in the battery will not fit in the 9x5.5 maybe they should make a solid elliptical coil and just change the charging clip to a different style that way it could still be waterproof otherwise if you have an external battery it won't be waterproof
  21. They are good targets when looking at it from a metals perspective. If those are eliminated you may lose buttons, buckles etc. At least that's what I would guess.
  22. I love my MI-6 and it's my favorite pinpointer. I keep it paired to my deus .
  23. Agree. I may put a screen protector on it but that's it.
  24. i still have a bunch of the equinox screen covers cut to fit and they work fine.
