Here's the pouch that I've been using.... It fits my scoop and a screwdriver and usually the day's trash finds. I bought it at HomeDepot and I don't think it was more than $20. I've been out hunting with it dozens of times and I'm not sure at this point why I'd need anything else... Luke

I've had a GR for a couple months now and been out with it a few times. The first thing I saw was your threshold at 35. I usually run at 17-20. At 25 or more, I know I can't hear the faint stuff anymore. Running your sensitivity at 69 doesn't seem like too much, but in some conditions, you may have to turn it down more. Try it at 50 and see if things improve for you. When I was trying to run with too much sensitivity, I would get a lot more false signals and the readout would go from 1-4 to 98-99 on ground mineralization. Once I started running the 'gain' lower, I had less issues and more stability. I haven't played much with some of the other features, so I can't be of much help there. Good Luck !! Luke

I was thinking that the 'reinforcement' was actually the conduit for the wires to get out to the transmit coil. I figured they did it this way to make it easier to 'electronically balance' the coil since the wire path is centered between the receive coils and they would see 'it' equally. Based on what I see, it will be strong enough, but the dragging on the brush will most likely be the problem, as already mentioned. I also see a very heavy coil as evidenced by the design and the fact they would take the time to remove as much material as possible and create a fairly complex mold. Just my observations. All this Gold Racer talk the last few months and you guys convinced me to buy one. Took it out for the maiden voyage last weekend. Wish I could say I found some gold... got a handful of birdshot instead. Just started playing with the discrimination modes. Looking forward to getting back out there... Here's my take: All the lower areas, near the water, are the most heavily prospected areas. More finds means the possibility of more show and tell. Plus the gold probably has been concentrating in the low areas. The farther you get from the water, uphill, the fewer prospectors and fewer finds. By the time a guy with a metal detector makes it to the top of the hill, if there's gold there, I can't imagine he'd tell everyone. Just my opinion... Luke

Dang !! Nice gold Hello everyone, I just joined the forum, although I've been lurking for some time now.... Just thought I would chime in and say that if that's the kind of gold you're finding. Just keep at it, you're doing better than most. All the advice given is good advice, with the mental aspect being the most important.
