  1. I had my first experience with caliche recently...I was wondering if anyone has advice on which coils work well on caliche covered nuggets. I plan to buy a 9x14 evolution soon, but don't know if that will be better in this regard. I was swinging an advantage 12" RM and managed to get one, but thought there could have been some I may not have heard. I use a goldscreamer and it blasts on the tiniest of targets so I think there may be something special about nuggets with caliche. Any experience you can share is appreciated.
  2. I would think there are some corners of the globe where the monster has shown up...It would be nice to hear from those folks. Not taking anything away from the reviews by Steve, Lunk, and Jonathan. It has just been quiet for a while now and I still don't have mine...
  3. I was in agreement with you. I guess I need to make my posts clearer. I also have one on order and I thought my post was in support of your opinion. I was surprised it was taken the other way. Since multiple people took it that way I guess it's bad on me. No worries though I will be sure to leave no wiggle room for interpretation on future posts. Good luck with the monster! Hope mine comes in soon.
  4. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. I was in agreement with Norvic. I also have one on order and I am hoping it is as good as it sounds. I guess I missed hearing about people being unhappy with the 7000. I was under the impression it was living up to the increased depth percentages claims made by Minelab.
  5. That is a pretty big claim to make...I haven't heard of any people saying the 7000 does not live up to advertised claims. I'm thinking and hoping the monster will be the same. So far the reviews have me excited about it, but you tend to focus on the good things being said when that's what you want to hear.
  6. I know the feeling Chuck. I'm crossing my fingers it comes in before the Sawtooth trip. ?
  7. I just called Minelab customer service for the Americas and they confirmed there is a delay. They said the detectors are made in Malaysia and they did confirm they have been shipped from there. No estimated arrival for west coast dealers was offered.
  8. I also will be appreciating a volume control for the built in speaker. That is something I miss on the gbpro.
  9. I will use it over my gbpro and gp3000 for crumbs but I am also looking forward to being able to use it in light rain or when rain is possible. Never liked trying to bag my detectors, but have often wanted to go out when it wasn't quite dry or wasn't likely to stay that way!
  10. Hey Mark, nice pick! I often find that one of the more rewarding aspects of prospecting is the fabrication of items that you think will make life easier in your quest for yellow. Is that hardened steel? If so what process did you use to weld it?
  11. Can I bring my tractor in May? We will find out for you and save you $4000.00. if we do well I will fill in your trench for you too! If BLM shows it was Paul's idea.
  12. So is it generally accepted that the Evo coils improve the gpz series but not so much on the gp series unless it is really mild soil? I was contemplating a 9x14 for my 3000...Would it be noisier than my 12" NFA RM.
  13. Ok finally got it to post! I also look for shapes on my nugget. On this one I see a T-Rex (looking left) and a lion (looking right).
  14. Nice job! That racer sure seems hot on those little nugs. Smokey as can be in Redding today...hope they get that fire out soon!
  15. LOL!!! I thought that meant you had lead in you pencil...
  16. I've always heard you have to ad the words " in bed " to the end of a fortune cookie. That means it could be really good or really bad depending on your outlook on the "rainbow" variable. ;)
  17. I have a hard time believing the f-19 wouldn't hit a 5 gram nugget at 5"... Was that a typo Argyle?
  18. Where are you located Brett? You should hook up with someone or a group in your area. Once you get dialed in you'll find it gets easier...confidence wise anyways.
  19. My brother in law was immune to it for most of his life...till he got punctured by some! Seems if you get it in you, you may not stay immune.
  20. I have to admit that when I have had it for long periods of time, it was likely from not cleaning my gear. If your coil, pick, debris pouch, boots, etc. were exposed to the oils they likely still have it on them...be sure that you clean those or you may keep repeating your exposure without actually going back to the plant.
  21. Whenever I get it I seem to carry it around for a month or two...alcohol dries it quickest. Best to just learn to like it!
