End of the dredge season is coming! Temps are dropping and the river will freeze in the next few week, thought I would take a moment to share my gold take so far.

Seems like a lot of work but I did manage to get about six ounces, mostly fine stuff but a few nice nuggets in the mix:smile:

Hope where ever you guys are dredging the water is a hell of a lot warmer.

I love what you call fine stuff......LOL

this is the fine stuff I have to deal with .....

  2. A lifetime of lifting wrong..... You are supposed to bend your knees and make the lift as straight as possible... But when we were young and invincible we all just bent over and gave a heave....

As to the weight thing in water it's all about specific gravity and buoyancy.  The weight of the object is displaced by the weight of the volume of water it displaces .... In other words if an object(rock) weighs 10 lbs. and it displaces 3 lbs. of water the effect of buoyancy will make the rock weight 7 lbs. in effect.

Or if you feel like getting some sleep you can read this.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buoyancy

  3. This whole discussion on masking reminds me of a silver quarter I found in an old school playground a few years back.

I was running my V3i in the area of the swing sets and off to one side I get a banging quarter hit... Nice high VDI and a good solid signal... so I dug the target and out pops a flattened bent up aluminum soft drink can... And a silver quarter in the plug as well... Now which did I detect?

I really didn't care because I found the silver, but that bent up aluminum can read very similar to the quarter... Did the V unmask the quarter? I doubt it.... I was just fortunate enough they both came out of the hole at the same time...

When I am in a new area that I deem has potential I dig a lot and ALWAYS recheck my holes so my unmasking is more technique than electronic.

Just my thoughts and experiences in the matter.

  4. The equinox isn't even out yet..... The release date isn't even certain....

There is nothing to compare it to realistically... Nothing but marketing hype and speculation.

And no.... I don't think the vids that are currently out about it can be relied on to make a sound purchase decision..... give it 6 months to a year in the hands of those too eager to wait and let them get the bugs out of it... Because you know there will be bugs...

Look at the gold monster.... greatest thing since sliced bread and now issues are arising.

But hey.... It's your money and frustrations when things don't work as advertised.

    JMHO..

Personally I would like to see Whites spend more time on the multi-frequency correlate mode.   You could do a wider range of selective frequency like the Impact/Equinox,Alter71, Dues,  but allow the user to pick the combination to correlate.  Create a screen specifically for correlate mode, something like a bulls eye plot or something....something to make it easier to dial correlate in, and to see how signals are reporting in reference to correlated settings.   HH

The V3i already has a fully adjustable correlate mode unlike the lite version in the V3.......

I just don't understand why White's have been sitting on their hands and saying nothing of what's may be coming.

The only thing whatsoever it is it's got to be so hot it will melt a candy bar in your pocket. When you lag behind the power curve you may never pass up your rival. Right now White's rival is Minelab but could be others may jump on the band wagon of new detectors coming out. I just know this is no time to be sleeping.

My trouble I love them both and want both to succeed and more than willing to help both . Well that's until my money runs out.

When you really think about it it has taken the competition over ten years to come up with anything that may or may not rival the V3i.... Is the V3i perfect? no ... There are a few things that could be improved on , such as the recovery speed and GB tracking speed but if you know how to use a V3i it will really dance.... And that is I think the biggest problem, not many people really know how to use the V3i with all the adjustments available people just overload and try to make too many adjustments without understanding how each affects the balance and soon everything is conflicting.

Am I a V guru?..... Far from it but I have the understanding I need to make the machine do what I want it to do.

So..... We wait and see but in the meantime, I am more than happy with my V3i.

Best bet is to wait 6 months to a year after release for issues to sort out on any new detector. Or just stick with what you have.

I waited 4 years before I bought my V3i... Just kept using my MXT till then.... Before that I used my Eagle Spectrum and before my Eagle I had a 6000 series 2.
