It will be interesting to see what happens when these things actually get into the hands of hunters.... Will there be issues like those that are now showing up with the gold monster? Time will tell. I do find it interesting the differences in response to the GMs issues and what happened when the MX Sport had issues. which all appear to be fixed now.

Check out Harbor Freight. That's where I got mine and it is a dual drum. They have single drum also. https://www.harborfreight.com/dual-drum-rotary-rock-tumbler-67632.html

Yup... Also I don't really live in an area conducive to nugget hunting. So I get my fix from beach mining and coin and jewelry detecting..... We all have our niche .... The wife and I got out a little yesterday ... no jewelry but some coinage.. the wife found a Susan Anthony dollar,,,,,,, she out did me again....... all I can say is that she has yet to find any gold jewelry while I have found quite a bit.
-
Jim I can sympathize with you.... I have found a lot more gold in the form of jewelry when hunting parks, schools and private property than I will ever find nugget shooting. Like you I just don't have the patience for it and I don't navigate uneven terrain very well either.... the knees just don't like that stuff. That's also why I don't get much prospecting done. So I have pretty much resigned myself to coin and jewelry hunting and beach mining.... Both of which get me some exercise as well as instant gratification...

Did Anyone But Minelab Show Up At Detectival?

Minelab Equinox Detectival 2017 First Tests
johnedoe replied to Shelton's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Now if you could just get the marketing dept. to adopt a little of the engineers philosophy.... -
Congrats on your ring find..... WTG With all the technology we have in our detectors we get a little lazy sometimes. We expect too much from them when it comes to target ID. There is no machine made and in all truth probably never will be made that can discriminate between a gold ring and a pull tab or zink penny or a piece of can slaw or a nickel for that matter. The electrical characteristics can be just too similar. So the old saying of...."If you want the gold, you got to dig it all." ..... is the rule to success. I like many may start my hunt digging most everything, then as I start to get fatigued I tend to let some targets pass. It has always been early in the detecting day when I have made my best finds. Hope this helps a little. Good luck out there... And here is something that also may help you.... See the bottom line on the MXT control pod? See the section for GOLD? Now draw straight lines up to the targets line.... Gold falls in from the high iron range clear up to a quarter.... That's is a significant range and if your neglecting targets in that range you ar risking missing the gold. Happy digging....

Did Anyone But Minelab Show Up At Detectival?

Thank you Tom for all the clarification. I for one am very happy with my White's detectors and will patiently wait for White's to make their new machines available. It is getting close to time to come up to the factory again, Maybe I can get a tour this time. Gotta bring up my Eagle Spectrum to have the backlight repaired anyway. -
True but I still like to see something at the end of my day even if it is only a couple grains. At least on the beach I always get to bring home something...... Just my nature.. I have to see some reward for my efforts.
-
Remember...... The worst day detecting or mining is still better than the best day working.......
-
I really have to admit I just don't have the patience to go after stuff like that with my detector..... I will stick to beach mining or crevicing and a pan. But you absolutely have my admiration in you recoveries....
-
You might take a pan with ya.... Some of those crevices that your pulling the lead out of may have some gold in them but too small to detect as well as being a bit deeper and or out of range in the crevice .... don't forget your crevice tool.
-
Here is a little vid of what some gold dredgers pulled.... it wasn't gold but it was several hundred dollars added to the take home pay.
-
Yup.... definitely keep the lead and brass ya find. Lead is currently @ 1.12 per lb and brass varies with the alloy% This site may be of help to you as well......... Scrap Monster

I use a tumbler with walnut shell to help cleanup my crusty common coins.

That is a very creative marketing explanation of the bell curve of the sensitivity range of any machine ....... -

While the air tests are impressive... a coin in an open hole is not indicative of a buried coin in the same mineralized ground.... JMHO. -

Thank's Steve, If that is true about White's ... That really sucks......... I did see the comment regarding the theft. -
She didn't leave the bag in the taxi? Why would she remove the bag from the taxi?

Beach Mining
johnedoe replied to johnedoe's topic in Gold Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Drywashing, Etc
Summer isn't the best time for beach mining so I haven't really gotten out much except the couple times south of here. We need some of those good southern storms to scrub the blond sands of the beach and reconsolidate the heavy black sands and gold. Here's a shot of the beach I usually goto since it is close to home and the access is easy. -
Just looked that over.....LOL site is running rampant with speculation and dreams.
-
So far though..... All those videos are just air tests.....You can make just about any machine dance in air tests. Have yet to see any real in the dirt performance tests... Or did I miss them?
-
Actually I did see that and must admit I was duly impressed. The question is.... At what depth can this machine maintain this performance. It will be interesting to see the real world tests and opinions when this machine hits the street.
