  1. I will not likely buy into minelab but the new machine does intrigue me. It certainly has the functions and being water proof is a huge bonus but not the deal maker.

The price of 899 for the top end machine is also very enticing But I already have a top line machine that actually I didn't pay much more for.

I will stand by with interest to see what really comes out when these machines get into the hands of users and we start getting some solid reviews.... After all they are still VLF machines..... The other thing that bothers me a little about ML is their reputation on repair and customer service.....

My White's machines have been rock solid, and when and if I should need a repair it is just a couple hours away to the Sweet Home factory which I stop in on occasion just for the fun of it.

With all that is going on with technology I am still very curious what White's will unveil in the I hope not too distant future.

10 feet serves for most people but for diving the machines rated for 100 ft plus are they way to go. I have not done SCUBA for many years now so this fits my Hawaii mask and snorkel needs to a tee. And sure looks to be easier to pack in luggage than my CTX.

That's one thing I definitely like about what I see... the compact packability..... Is that a word?

  3. White's was really ahead of the curve with the V series. And if you know how to use it it will take a very serious machine to beat it.

Seems the biggest complaint is it's GB speed which really could be improved on but it is a machine that makes you slow down which I think is just fine...

Gotta say I do enjoy following up behind these guys that look like they're using a weed wacker instead of a metal detector though.....

  4. Like I said earlier though.... If this thing proves out it will make the other manufacturers step things up a notch.

I would kinda like to see Whites make a machine like the old 6000 series but run at 15kHz.

I used to have a 6000 series 2... wish I had kept it just for the fun.... It was a heck of a machine though and it paid for itself with a lot of good finds.

  5. Well like I have said in the past ... I'm a Whites guy so it will take nothing short of a miracle to get me to switch. I have a V3i and an MXT and an Eagle spectrum which I also have a bigfoot coil for.  So I got pretty much everything covered for any kind of hunting I want to do.

  6. Nope.... Just can't stand to watch it.... it was just very annoying people and demonstrations. We'll just leave it t that.

I guess the fact that I have also had a terrible night ... gout has settled into both wrists and my right shoulder and I have little tolerance for much tonight.

I am interested to see just what the new machine will do but I am not upto putting up with the hype t this point.

  7. But still no earth-shaking change in technology... Just the same old single freq. with perhaps a bit faster GB algorithm.

They need to make some upgrades to the V3i.

Now don't get me wrong here ... I love my White's machines. But that doesn't mean they can't improve on things And make some serious advances like they did with the V when it came out.

  8. I would try to schedule things to be able to hit that tot lot.... After all that's where you saw people hanging out and mothers do lose jewelry.... Maybe real early in the AM or late in the evening.

Just a thought .... The tot lots are where I always start ... they are quick and can give you a feel for the place.

If they are clean then one of two things are happening....

    1. There is somebody there ahead of you or.

    2. things are just not that busy.

I have been to parks where I hit the TL and it is surprisingly clean of any targets, even trash, it is obviously being hit regularly.

Then I move off the TL and start searching.... It is amazing what I then find. Either the detectorist ahead of me just wants the easy pickens or simply doesn't want to expend the additional energy in the turf...... Their loss, my gain.
