  1. It wasn't too long ago that white's put a lot of restrictions on the dealers and their online presence if I remember correctly............. I might be wrong but I seem to remember hearing that.
  2. How high can you get the RX gain before you start getting instability? Chances are those coils will still work just fine and the likelyhood that you would be running at 15 is slim.... Running that hot will usually cause all kinds of instability in mineralized ground. The V3i does not require you to max all the settings to get best performance...... Remember........ Mo hotter is NOT always mo better. You may also find this helpful.... http://www.metaldetectingintheusa.com/files/v3i-sensitivity.pdf
  3. While air tests are kinda fun and they help you familiarize yourself with the machine settings the chances of you finding a dime or nickel at 11" in the ground are slim ..... So many variables and depending on the level of mineralization in your particular ground will have the biggest effect on overall performance.... Concentrate on getting a good ground balance for best performance...
  4. I don't know..... The striped shirt and plaid shorts kinda ruin it for me......
  5. One of the things I have noticed is that most of the parks we goto the tot lot's are pretty barren. We still find a little but they are pretty clean. Now when I goto a park I always hit the tot lot first ... Just a quick hit and run type thing. Then I get into the grass. This is where I find a surprising amount of things.... I think people have gotten lazy, because of the amount of finds I make in the grass near the tot lot. Also my recovery methods show very minor evidence if any of my ever being there.
  6. I agree with you Steve. I hunt just to get out and get a little exercise these days and I still find a really good target on occasion. I have been fortunate that all of my machines have paid for themselves +. Also the area I currently live in is pretty bleak. I have to drive at least an hour to get to anyplace that may have something worth hunting. But I do still enjoy the hunt and my V3i is always a pleasure to use as well as learning more about it.
  7. Yup.... I'm a belt and suspenders kinda guy .... tones and visuals.
  8. Once gain Steve you have gone above and beyond expectations..... This is without a doubt the best forum on the net.... Kudos'.
  9. Sorry Steve.... I was just kinda skimming and didn't notice the post links above mine. You can remove my post since it is redundant if you want to.
  10. Carl has a little to say about LRLs also. http://www.geotech1.com/cgi-bin/pages/common/index.pl?page=lrl&file=main.dat
  11. I am still getting it dialed in and getting used to all the info it provides but I do prefer it now to the other modes. Using it with correlate is very powerful. I was using stereo MM when I found this ugly 10k mens ring in a very trashy park....
  12. Steve... Have you spent much time working with the V3i stereo mixed mode? I pretty much use it all the time now that I have gotten used to it.
  13. Except the gm 1000 is not unique. White's GMT operates at 48kHz so it is in the same range.
  14. LOL.... After reading this I can see why the V3i would get a little tedious for you Steve...
  15. Goldmonster 45 kHz White's GMT 48 kHz Be interesting to see a head to head comparison.
  16. Those are some great finds. Do you have a caliper to measure the diameter of the bullet? That will give you the caliber. That and a scale can give you what you need to know, with the weight info it may even narrow it down to the rifle type. Bullet weight is measured in grains by the way.
  17. yup..... Remember this one?.... https://stoutstandards.wordpress.com/2017/04/13/is-it-the-detector-or-is-it-you/ At this point I have probably got the last detectors I will buy ..... I have an Eagle Spectrum that I bought new in 93 ... I have an MXT and a V3i. I have been thinking about selling my Eagle Spectrum though I have 4 coils with it one of which is an 18" Big Foot.......
  18. Another issue with the constant bombardment of EMI is regarding the health risks associated with it. We live in a society that is awash in EMI some benign and some potentially hazardous. As to the level of risk and exactly what levels produce these risks I don't know but it is something to think about. Or not...... We're all gonna end up worm food at some point. Remember the old saying..... Eat right, stay fit.... Die anyway. Have a great day
