Beach Mining
johnedoe replied to johnedoe's topic in Gold Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Drywashing, Etc
Hey idaho...... No I haven't heard of that mat. Have you used it yet? I use the cleangold sluice, it's the magnetic sluice. since I run beach sand there is basically no classifying to do unless I am in cobble then it is just a simple rinse in the basket. And it is pretty good on the beach. -

OK the weight is in..... drum roll please...... 5 Grain.... I will be locking that massive haul away so none of you guys get any ideas...... Remember this was from about 3 gallons of previously cleaned cons so at current spot of 1218.80 thats a little over 11 bucks. Lets deduct a grain for impurities and it makes it about 9 and change. I got the magnetics out of it but there is still a tiny bit of non magnetic material . Also remember this is beach gold.... -100 mesh and smaller. -

OK... Got a little ambitious and finished the cleanup.... Remember this is what a lot of people toss out after they have done their cleanup. this came out of about 3 gallons of already cleaned cons that would have ended up in the drive way. I will weigh it after it has dried out. -

Well the weather has turned pretty nasty and I wasn't able to get out today, hoping to before the weekend is over though.... Sunday's forecast looks better. SO... I did a little cleanup of some old cons that I have had around and here is a little of what I got..... I have more that I will finish up tomorrow. -

I knew the tides were wrong but I went to take a look anyway ..... Well just wasn't meant to be. The tides were just too high to be able to do any sand sifting, can't pull the cart full of black sand over those cobbles..... Next weekend the tides will be perfect, just hope the black sands are still concentrated .... -
I know this is a fairly old thread but thought I would add this to it and bring it back up. You would be amazed at what you can do with a gold pan..... Here is a link to a thread I posted on treasure net. The Art of Gold Panning. The series is done by Mike Pung. There is also a couple from Doc at Gold Hog. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/panning-gold/459664-art-gold-panning.html

Here's a short vid of the cleanup sluice.... I just set it inside the big beach sluice for now and run it. I am putting together a a self contained system for it now so i can just run it with out all the other gear being setup. The beach sluice I use is a magnetic sluice design by CleanGold. This setup is 16" wide and 6' long.... the top slick plate is 16x24 followed by a 16"x24" sawtooth mat followed by the 16"x 24" CleanGold magnetic section..... -

Garrett Z-Lynk Wireless Audio System Details
johnedoe replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Yup.... Don't need to repeat the MX Sport fiasco. Don't worry though I'm still with ya...... but like I said I might have to cross lines just long enough for that Z-Lynk .... My wife would really like the wireless, she is very envious of that feature with the V3i but she doesn't want a V... says it is too complicated for her and she loves the MXT.... Most of the time she beats me in the coins... but I smoke her when it comes to the jewelry..... Of course she gets her pick anyway.... -

That was all pretty much -150 mesh. Our beach gold is usually -100 but things were different that day. As to fine gold recovery it is very equipment specific and technique specific as well.... But your right as nice as the nuggets are fine gold is far more abundant... Just got to get into the area and have the technique and equipment to deal with it. -

Got out a little about 4 weeks ago and made gas money...lol.... That small amount was recovered from about 4, 5 gal buckets full of beach sand. Other than that not much to report. Not much to report since the snow. Conditions are still less than favorable and the beach deposits haven't really formed yet. Last time I went there wasn't even any surface black sands and no layers to speak of even 2 feet down. Will go take a look again this coming weekend most likely.
