Amazing find that certainly brought enthusiasm into the camp.  How exhilarating it must have been when you scrolled through the TIMINGS on the ZED and realize you're about to unearth something magnificent, extremely rare and deep.

Time to break out the grid chains and start all over.

Hopefully you have it cleaned out soon, we have that 3 Day Field Training class coming up next month and I know some folks will want to see it, touch it and most certainly we'll let the customers hear it with their detectors.

Now you can afford to purchase some of them new snake boots to protect the ankles.

Looking forward to seeing you soon Amigo.

  2. Instead of trashing your junk metals separate them and put them aside ....

I have to admit this is a problem with the little woman... She fails to comprehend this little bonus account.... But she doesn't mind taking her out to lunch or dinner on occasion.....It will finally sink in one of these days:smile:

you'll be surprised how quickly they add up and if you are lucky enough to have a scrap metal buyer close by turn it all in when you have enough.

It all adds up to some surprising pocket money.

Here is a little site that I find useful..... http://www.coinflation.com/coins/basemetal_calc.php

At current sink prices 10 bucks of zinc pennies is worth 9.12 in melt value.

And yes ... I know coin melting is illegal............... Just a point of reference .. Not advocating melting coinage, even junk coins.

  3. I had to make a trip north for business and unfortunately I did not take any equipment along.....

We have had some good storms the last few weeks and it has really turned over some of the beaches.

Yup.... That is black sand and about a 4 inch layer.

Most of the time this layer is anywhere from a few inches to several feet down. There have been reports of a couple grams per 20 five gallon buckets..... occasionally better and sometime less.

The ban was only on locating mining claims. Mining sales and leases were still allowed. Prospecting was still allowed. Mining of non locatable minerals was still allowed.

The BLM enforced the ban by refusing to maintain a mining claim case file for a new location. No BLM case file = no mining claim.

The line was drawn at locating a mining claim. You could prospect for and discover valuable minerals but you couldn't claim those minerals for yourself.

If you discovered oil, coal, sulfur, phosphorous or a bunch of other non locatable minerals you could lease the discovery and mine it. If you needed sand or construction materials you could buy those and mine them. Only the valuable minerals like gold, silver, copper, lead, tin etc. were banned from location.

Neither hiking nor anything else was banned.

    Typical bureaucratic management..............
