Looks like a beautiful place to search. Congratulations on those early finds. More and more yet to come!

Okara, yep.  gonna take me a looooong time to search this place.  I am not certain why this spot has been so good, but going to crush this front field all i can before its next planting in spring.  Here is a picture of the property.  The black line is about 30 of the 40 acres.  the small orange circle is where i got the SLQ in front of the barn, and the larger orange is where all the rest of this stuff has come from.

  2. Got out again yesterday morning.  Was 22 when I started, but cleared 32 when I finished up, so I've dug in worse.  Got a bunch more of those hexagon tokens, and 5 more coins.  2 I believe are 1/2 pennies again, but dug 3 smaller coins that I couldn't identify until I got home.  Definitely never dug one of these before.  Only one has enough metal left to really ID.   Looks like Irish half penny to me, but please correct me if I'm wrong.  Of course the most dmg is right at the date...

Wow Rod, beautiful place and great hunt. Looks like you got a bit of everything from an un-hunted permission! Looking forward to your next search already. 😀

Here's a possibility for your hexagonal objects - cannery tokens. Are any of them stamped?1_90435acae0173dff72b7f63017e9fd98.jpg.b172e4d96a119aa169d41f9aa540b386.jpg

F350, I will try to find some markings.  I hadnt seen any at first glance, though.  really look like them, though.  thank you for the possible match

The key is in cleaning it correctly. The original surface is hair thin and totally corroded. You see where it has cone off in a few places. Underneath it fluffy green corrosion, and under that pitted metal with brown corrosion. To preserve the original surface, I dried the buckle slowly, then used a soft brush to get the loose dirt off, then applied a penetrating, hardening oil (Odie's Oil) to stabilize the surface. I used a soft brush to work it in, and a soft, lintfree cloth to remove the excess (and extra dirt). Then  I put it away for a week or so to give the oil time to cure. Now it's safe to handle, and the surface is preserved. You can even see tool marks where the maker cleaned up the casting.

if I had rinsed it in water, all this would have been lost.

That was really helpful.  Do you by any chance have a picture of the buckle prior to the work you did on it?

  5. i know I am probably too late as it sounds like you have already purchased, BUT if you havent yet....

I really really really recommend the Fisher F-Pulse pinpointer.  I have had the black Garrett and the carrott.  both worked well for me, but in mineralized soil, the Fpulse is way better because it can be tuned to the soil.  It solves the situation when the carrot starts chirping/buzzing as soon as it is near the ground, and you have to try to discern what is a target and what is the ground.  fpulse, you just hit the button once more quick while touching the ground, and it now ignores the ground and you can much more easily find your target.  just like the carrot, you can turn sound off and use vibrate.

Great hunt Rod! Glad you got out there. 👍 It has been a weird winter but it's a La Niña one, northern jet doesn't always stay south. 🙂 Past couple years have been kinda mild, I'll take it!

And apparently you did too. 🏆 Congrats on some killer finds! What coil were you running on the Equinox?

F350, I have both stock 11 and the 6inch.  Only ever used the 6inch once though.  Can't make myself use it even though it is  a very trashy site.  I don't "know" but feel like I wouldn't get the deep ones that whisper.  Maybe next time I will try the 6, now that I have run over the same area 2x with 11.   Yiu might have to talk me into it, though

I cleaned up the button I dug with some lemon juice, it has an incredible amount of gold gilt left (amazing how well lemon juice can bring out any remnants of gold gilt).  Although it has some similarities to the one you shared, after getting it cleaned up, it's pretty different.   It has a rope twist boarder, with a horizontal lined background, and the letters (they're really hard to read, not because the button is in bad shape, it's the font they used).  For sure the last letter is a B, but the first two letters 🤔  The back is marked "SURFACE GOLD".

I'll keep looking around to see if they mystery can be solved 🙂

Cal, I am pretty sure the lettering is a W and R.   image.png.8ecd71e465f4c1b86cb3bd28c44f21f9.png

Nice hunt, congrats on your finds.

    Which detector were you using?

Good luck on your next outing.

Valens, it is my Nox 800, 11inch coil..  I run it almost always in F1, sens 23.  I used to run it almost exclusively in multi tones, but more and more in town have switched to single freq 20 due to emi from power lines.
