  1. People.....These pictures are fake, WY does not have gold, go to AZ or NV......no gold here, don't bother coming. 😉
  2. This is a terrible video, but supposedly at 300 mm (11 inches) both the 6 and 7 are picking up a 2g nugget. I bet nobody wants to max them out because no body wants to dig a hole that deep 🤣
  3. Some of us need videos to see products before purchasing. Especially large purchases and since there are no dealers within a ~13 hour drive. Most people with a brain should be able to pick out the flaws in the videos but they still provide information and you get to see the products in use. Combine that with in-depth reviews and you can make informed decisions.
  4. Yeah I would say that if Minelab was to do an update it definitely would not be Geosense. Look at all the processors in the 6k, it probably takes that many to run that software. Plus you can not even run the GPS at the same time as detecting unless you want button lag in 7, so if they do update software it would only be an emulation to “try” and mimic Geosense if that at all. If they were going to do anything and waste their time they would try to put together some thing together to make the current settings combined automatically and call them Preset 1,2,3 etc.
  5. So i won one of the GPX Contests and here is what you get. A T-shirt that only your wife can wear because we all know Americans where XL-XXL, this one was a medium. Plus its a GPX6000 shirt that you get to wear while using your other Minelab detectors as you wait months on end for yours 😂😂😂. Love it! 🤦‍♂️ However the new hats are pretty cool and actually fit.
  6. Just remember when you are in a mineral withdrawal area, you are ONLY looking for coins. 😉🤣
  7. Nice Norvic! Thanks for the observation! Norvic observed that the GPX6000 goes ~40% deeper than the Z on the smalls. The bigs are still TBD. Probably not many people have the bigs to contend with but it sure would be nice to know right? This is where I miss Phrunt, he would have done experiments left and right, good or bad just for the sake of knowledge. Oh well. I was kind of surprised that nobody else but Rob and I were curious to know, or at least no one else piped in. Just because 3-4 people now have reported on what they did should not discourage others from performing tests and sharing information, even if its an air test. We all know it is relative to ground, EMI, saturation, salt, geology, etc. etc., but any experiments using controls or not still is information. Nobody is going to do exactly what the other wants and people will criticize how experiments are done but good or bad it is still knowledge. I don't care if you are a 1st time detectorist or the greatest detectorist in the world, the more information presented and observed is way better in the long run. Thanks again Norvic!
  8. That is a nice compact setup and would work good with a connected external speaker that most of us have already with a booster. I know JP was mentioning this but it is nice to see all set up for scale. 👍 You might want to put a piece of industrial Velcro on the unit and sewn to the pouch so it does not slip out on accident too.
  9. You should probably reread the first post from Rob again. I even quoted it before. We both want to know if the new GPX falls into this category against their 40% claim or not... blah blah blah. The easiest way would be to do an air test to eliminate ground. In theory you should be able to determine a percentage of distance an object is detected as it goes away from the coil for each machine. It has been done so many times in the past with many different coils and machines. I am not understanding why this is such a big deal now. Minelab has to use some kind of methodology to determine these start charts or percentages. You would think in some way they would want you to be able to replicate it, otherwise it is just BS marketing. This should not be that big of a deal. SMH
  10. So does the GPX6000 fit into this claim or is Minelab now wrong to say that the GPZ can get 40% more depth over "GPX" detectors? So I will repeat myself to get back on topic. Being that there is only one in the United States, would any of our Aussie friends want to give an air test a go?
  11. Yes you are extremely over reacting to my comment. I never once said Steve, I said "they" as in Minelab. I also never asked "you" to perform anything. I even said in my comment folks in "Australia". I listen to what everyone says about their opinions and thoughts on any equipment and many times I have given "likes" to what people have written or told us. I enjoy reading all about every piece of equipment. Is it so wrong to question or ask for proof? Is it wrong to ask if Minelab is making false claims? Am I supposed to believe the doctor that distributes snake oil that cures everything? Steve, lighten up, not every question or comment is directed at you and your experiences. It almost seems you don't want people to see if they can repeat the claims Minelab makes. Rob said that Minelab still states that it is 40% deeper over GPX machines, so...... doesn't anyone want to SEE if that is true? Especially on this new GPX. I thought this forum was about discussion. If I was to take the word of everyone on this forum I would have cut my cord for a X-coil a hell of a long time ago, glad I did not take their word.
  12. I wish that they would release the tests or if somebody could even mimic them. I would like to see the 40% deeper in a controlled setting. I know that nobody likes air tests but in theory air tests keeps the “ground” as a constant, because there is none. It does provide information. You would think you could see the 40% pretty easily that way. I do think that Minelab should be able to explain their tests and how to mimic them because if somebody cannot mimic them, then this is considered false advertising and could possibly open up litigation. I want repeatable scientific lab setting proof!!! There has to be somebody over in Australia that has both machines they could try this out real quick.
  13. Jason and Wes. I use the nylon long sleeve fishing shirts from Cabelas. They sre SPF50 and the back vents are great. I have been using these for many summers out in the field for my job. Ever since I had to have some skin cancer removed I only wear SPF cloths now when I’m outside. I usually buy a few when on sale for $20. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/world-wide-sportsman-nylon-angler-20-long-sleeve-shirt-for-men?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop|Generic|AllProducts|High|SSCCatchAll&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqL7picbF8AIVGvLjBx2O_AoIEAQYBSABEgJRyfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  14. I just saw that you said that before my post and yet for some reason this morning I did not see that. But I did not have coffee yet either. 🤣
  15. Once you guys get these let us know how they work. The one thing that I’m really concerned about is how well it will stay on my neck. I don’t want it falling off when I’m bending over to dig a hole or something. By the way other manufacturers make the same thing including JBL.
  16. I don’t think a software or firmware update would do it. Just like PC’s you need more processing power for better improvement. More chips! 😂
  17. It’s like an ore nugget. If you were probably to dissolve that away it would end up being a big pile of dust and flake, or wire gold, so there is lots of pore space in it. Try running your detector over a veil of gold dust and flake. It doesn’t work too well. VLFs work much better for fine gold and should sing nicely on pieces like that!
  18. Yeah for us we have two seasons. Summer here is when all the northern folk get out to detect, but in the south too hot for them......maybe, but there time seems to be the winter. IDK cause I am a northerner and my field season just started. From the time the snow just finished melting to the the start of the grass starting to grow is the best time to detect!
  19. With the BT though, do you adjust the volume at the headphones or is it the same volume buttons on control panel like for the rear speaker?
  20. I think Lunk had a speaker already picked out in one of the threads, but you will have to search for it. I remember it looking pretty slick as it just attached around your neck with a speaker on both sides so they would be under your ears.
  21. Don’t be afraid to post the truth and don’t be afraid of internet bullies. I’ve said this a couple times but everybody who likes to bully people on the Internet think they’re a big person behind a keyboard. That persons would never say it to my face or yours knowing the consequences.
