Good luck getting someone to compare this to a Z outright. Â I have ben asking that for months.

Actually it is designed for outright depth. Â It has 4 out of 5 stars as compared to the Z on the star chart. Â Doc wrote a very compelling article over on Robâs forum and kind of describes how that is. Â I found it very interesting.

It very well could end up being your particular locations emi that ends up determining whether or not the 6 is the ticket or not for you? It's a high strung machine but maybe so sensitive in some locations it's just not worth the aggravation, frustration, and constantly fucking with it to actually ENJOY your time out in the brush...???? Time will tell.....
Could be, but man that is a $6000 dollar chance to take. Â I guess resale value ATM though would be enough to justify. Â
ÂI wish I could âsee/hearâ the problems people are having.  From what I have âseenâ, it sounds more like an SDC threshold which for me I have learned to âlisten throughâ for repeatables.  The EMI that I have experienced with the SDC sounds more like a constant wee ooo wee ooo wee ooo or the occasional distant lightning strike.  Are the EMI troubles people are having anything like I have described?

For a detector that sounds so simple to useâŠâŠ..maybe it really is not so simple after all. Â

Boy with it going crazy with airplanes I am thinking it might not work near some power lines. Â I have a nice patch that is close to some where i could hear a little emi trouble with both the Z and SDC.
-
10 x 5 is just as sensitive as the 6 but covers more area and has the nose to poke into places. Â Nice coil, its the only one currently on my Nox. Â
ÂHere is something interesting for you depth seekers. Â I missed a piece of gold with my Nox at a Hydro Pit because it was detecting a square nail 6â below the gold. Â My buddy with his GB2 detected the gold because it did not punch down as deep to hear the nail. Â Food for thought.

Right on Lunk!  I think I even see a little quartz in that one gram piece!  Iâm looking forward to trying the 6k out on a patch that we have right now. Although weâre in different parts of the country those pictures look very similar to what weâre dealing with. I have had the Z, the Nox, and the SDC over this and my buddy a GB2.  Iâm really looking forward to seeing what I mightâve missed with the new tech. Â
ÂBTW nice new Avatar đ

Starting from scratch with 8k:
6k - $6000
6k 17x13 coil - $600
Nox 800 - $850
Nox 10 x 5 coil $220
Nox 6â $200
Total: $7870
With that set up all your bases are covered in general situations. Â

Cmon Rob lets start hearing about some comparisons! Â You were in my boat on that vs the 7! Â We all want to know how deep will it go! đ

What was the weight of the biggest nugget at 12 inches? Excellent day! Flys have gotten bad here to for some reason, not the norm at all.
Â
I also see that you are selling your SDC. Being that youâre a user of one, like Iâve been for a long time, are you finding that the threshold is similar to that or is it something completely different? It seems that on the videos that I have seen that the threshold seems very much like the SDC. Which is really squirrley and youâll learn to listen through it. Did you ever try to just get rid of the threshold using that option on the 6000?  Iâm wondering if it might save some of the headache and constant noise canceling.

Oh that would be called a hillbilly diamond. I learned about those in North Carolina LOL.  We actually had one made up. They pass off really easily and since quartz has a hardness of 7 it scratches glass to âfoolâ others LOL.  Best part is they are way cheaper so if you scratch it up you can replace many times over before you ever reach the price of a diamond đ€Łđ€Ł

Bigger nuggets maybe 6 inches down, but what I found interesting is the low/hi sound on most of them, not the âtypicalâ hi/low. Â They never show the gold cleaned up so Iâm kind of curious if these are slugs or spongy. Take it for what itâs worth.

Questions about 7KÂ vs 6K comparison.Â
I have both and have a simple question for those who ask the above question. Why would we take the time off of enjoying our hobby to do so? Give me a better incentive then weight in the pocket????Â
The only incentive you would get is knowledge and information that you did not have before performing any tests.  All it would do is satisfy a curiosity you may or may not have.

Personally, I am not too keen to watch Youtube videos to get informed. We have plenty of info here on DP đ And direct comparisons between machines is not very useful IMO because so much more needs to be considered. But if someone makes these Youtube videos I have fun watching them. Anyhow, I am just a sad 7000 owner who wants to build a case to not abandon what was once a shining star and a loving relationship with joy and reward đȘ Â
Youtube is just another information source just like DP, except with Youtube you get to watch for yourself to make your own determination, especially when you can see how people are performing the tests vs how you might do it differently.

I am just really surprised that nobody has done a true head to head comparison of the two.  When the Z came out there were so many 5k vs 7k comparisons, but with the 6k nothing.  Its almost as if people donât want to compare in fear that their new toy is not up to par OR their $10,000 dollar machine is no longer as useful.  We have all read the reviews and opinions, seen the star chart, etc.  I am not the only one, even Rob wants to know!  Africa and Australia have field testers because they have had the 6k for sometime now. Iâve only seen one video on YouTube which I posted earlier that actually performed a quick test that does give some data. Maybe I need to scour the Australian forums and see if there is any on them.  I just find it odd and intriguing. I almost wonder if Minelab is behind it (conspiracy theory), because I have reached out to some of the Youtubers that have both machines and they say great idea and are will to give it a go and yet nothing.  Now that some machines are rollin in here maybe some data will start rolling in.  Otherwise when my buddy gets his (on the list well before me), we plan on atleast doing some basic testing.  Probably will make a few Youtube dollars on that video đđđ.

I went down this road when I was a complete newbie and the Excalibar was my first detector. I thought I could save a bunch of money but in the end the amount of repairs that had to be done multiple times cost me the same as if I would have just bought new. Â Sorry to tell you that, but maybe it will save you the time and frustrations so you can just get out to the joys of detecting. Â
ÂBut if youâre looking for a project go for it! Just be aware that youâre probably gonna spend more time fixing your machine and wondering if itâs working properly versus getting out and detecting.

Would love to use one and know!  Until then itâs a forum, people go to discuss at a forum, therefore you are allowed to think.

Anybody find just a speaker similar to a WM12 or ProSonic? Â The Taurus neck band seems to be the closest that I could find that was low latency. I canât find any just standard speakers that you could just clip on.

If they donât lock properly or the shaft wobbles I would send it in for warranty repair.  They are then covered again.  Wash, rinse and repeat until they get it right, but I thought that too with those locks like on the equinox.  I replaced with stevegâs locks those might work once we see the machine.

But this depth is more impressive on a 1/4 grammer.

8 grammer found at 11 inches. Â Nothing special as most detectors PIs should see something that big at that depth, but at least we get to see a big one finally found on film.
