    I want to give a sincere "Thank You!" to Steve Herschbach, Reno Chris, Ivans Garage, Snake Jim, Mike Hillis, RickUK, AZBlackbird, and Sourdough Scott who all responded to my dumb questions.

    I tried to match up the requirements, as you told me, of a metal detector for gold nuggets and coins:

    * High frequency

    * Ground balance

    But I could not find a metal detector in my price range of ($300-$350) that met those two requirements I am back to square one and I guess I will not be purchasing a metal detector at this time. At least I now know what to look for and I am no longer completely ignorant. I am disappointed but I will get over it.

    I will recommend your forum to anyone. You guys spent your own time to help me. It doesn't get any better than that.

    Thank again.

  3. We are moving house this week end i found a lost item well actually a few they are all canonballs which i put in a safe place to avoid to be kicked :)

    Here is my 2nd favourite a nice specimen circa 15th century.I got a smaller one cracked to the core but not splitted which remind the force or the energy at impact...........they were used against wood structure and heaven cavalry then became obsolete against stone walls,and were replaced by lead then quickly by steel

    Anyway here is the beast weight around 3.5kg

    I’m amazed you found a pipe in such great condition. All I find is fragments. Great recovery job.... I admire all the effort you are putting into this. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks Steve .I am moving this week end and i re-found some stuff i put in safe place to avoid to be broken one of them is a 37.5 cm Churchwarden clay pipe.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Churchwarden-Clay-Pipe-13in/dp/B003NEZVSG

    Mine is of course ancient and found in a spot where i broke another one...................in 7 pieces.

    I m focusing on the black gravel which may contain the oldest stuff for some reason on that patch (same spot as other trenches) the gravel was 2 feet deep not much luck except this Eward the 3rd penny.Using the Deus 9"HF discri -4.0

  9. I have bombarded this spot for years ,but its now very popular i pick up more than 2000 pounds(british) of gold there .Wedding rings,cufflinks,broken gold bits etc maybe the size of 2 basket ball pitch.....now i am searching in a different way and so far it isn't too bad.

    The deus is very convenient as i can dig and switch on the headphones as i whish......

    More to come

  10. Hello went back to the spot of my latest trench and decided to dig one longer,i left markers last week which were still there on thursday but were gone on Saturday ...........so i left some this time heavy enough that u need a bit of strength to move those rock.......I was equipped with the 9"HF 1 spade ,1 pickaxe and 1 Hodan pick.Weather was ok not too hot.

    The pickaxe really helped to loosen the compacted gravel,and i think with a bit of practice i will getter better at it.I detected the spoil once out ,and it was very easy with the deus to switch

    on and off.

    So i found:

    -1 Rose farthing

    -1 Nuremberg token

    -1 beautiful button from the 4th regiment of the East  India Company

    -1 roman coin

    -1 strap of some sort probably medieval.

    I did found anything while refilling the trench(which is good) and i more than happy with the result as i still got 100s of trench to do on that spot but also i am the only one allowed as most of the license holders are scrapping only?.I also found a pretty long clay pipe

    Enjoy the work out
