  1. First thought was a Tool tag - used by workers for checking out tools. A key fob of some kind makes sense as well. I have some of the railroad luggage tags. The ones i've found have a slit for a leather strap rather than a punched hole. Always nice to find something other than same old coins. Rich
  2. Retired Spares are in a plastic tote that contains 'retired' accessories. I have my current Garrett Pro Pointer AT and my XP MI6 in my detecting bag. The carrot has duty with my EQ800, the MI6 was linked to my Deus (sold) and will be linked to my Deus 2 once I have it in hand. Waiting . . . . Both PP stay in the detector carry bag so i have an emergency spare if one or the other should have a bad day. I like the rack you devised. Looks good. I have a shoe box of sorts used for storing batteries. Helps me with using older batteries first in various battery powered items around the house / auto. I keep a spare 9v battery for the carrot in my carry bag. It has some tape across the terminals to prevent shorting.
  3. Probably a good time to be out hunting with the deuce 2 ! (Deus 2)
  4. It's a fun read GhostMiner - more enjoyable than watching the World News. Rich
  5. Glad to see you have things well covered. How do you handle batteries for them? Any favorites?
  6. Gerry - so sorry that happened to you ! Which detector . . . . i mean ring did you order? do you have the website handy?
  7. Think it's time to get that GPX 5000 up and running. Seriously.
  8. Impressive Joe. Especially so with you being out of commission for some months. Glad you're still with us ! Be safe out there. I look for ways to implement your methods to improve my own results. Of course, being in the middle of a desert, there are limits. A big take away is research / scouting which means location. I do appreciate you taking the time to share what works for you. Rich -
  9. I really appreciate the comments. Some thoughts and comments are better when they come from another source. Interesting how closely my experiences and thoughts parallel many of yours. I did leave my questions generic and vanilla as I didn't want to appear to be steering the conversation in any particular direction. Rich -
  10. I've been a user of SMF detectors since they were first introduced waaaaay back in the early 90's with the Fisher CZ-6 and its' competitor, the Minelab Sovereign. I went with the CZ-6 because it was in a better package. CZ-6, CZ-6a, Explorer XS, Etrac, Equinox 800, and now waiting on a Deus 2. I have a lot of years on them. There have been endless discussions on the marketing vs real world frequencies actually used. All that aside, I ask these questions for a couple friends - Below are some of the claimed benefits i hear related to Simultaneous Multi-Frequency. If true, how? How does simultaneous multi-frequency impact / improve dealing with the ground signal? How does simultaneous multi-frequency impact / improve dealing with a salt signal on the wet salt water beach? How does simultaneous multi-frequency impact / improve Target ID at Depth? Any other claimed benefits I left out ? I will direct a couple pair of eyes over here to evaluate your responses. Thanks, UtahRich -
  11. I ordered a set of those ALIEN headphones to come along with the D2 - lol - can't wait for my toes to be shook ! Rich -
  12. I had pre-ordered the 11" package with my dealer weeks ago. Yesterday, after reviewing all the places I enjoy using my Deus 1, I realized I should start with the 9" to continue hunting those areas with the Deus 2. I believe XP will come out with an 11x13" or similar for the beach hunters and think I'll wait for that. So I called my dealer and updated my order to the 9" package. As for coils smaller than the 9" round FMF, i thought I read / heard that XP won't be making a smaller elliptical coil for the Deus 2 due to the size of the FMF chip and battery needed to run it. Did anybody else read / hear that? I've seen so many Deus 2 videos and read so many posts the last month or so, it's hard to remember sources. somebody mentioned they would hang onto their Deus 1 with the elliptical HF coil because of this. Rich
  13. I suspect i will need to hang onto my Deus 1 and the 3 coils that work with it.
  14. That display represents a lot of work. Only detector rich ? Could be worse . . . . . you could be Utah Rich. LOL
  15. Both the birdcage button and the 1 Reale are great finds. Impressed big time by the birdcage condition. Like the first flat button as well. Was trying to figure the writing on the back FINE ? Thanks for the post and video. Always enjoy a trip report. UtahRich
  16. Any thoughts of trying a Dive tank sled for pulling across the sand?
  17. I didn't realize you were so Saintly, George. Cudo's. Leg*end Middle English (in the sense ‘story of a saint's life’): from Old French legende, from medieval Latin legenda ‘things to be read’, from Latin legere ‘read’. legend (sense 1 of the noun) dates from the early 17th century. I wonder if Nokta meant there to be a little poke to our XP friends in France as well. We can only wonder. Rich
  18. Glad Nokta went with the 3 yr warranty. As the Legend makes its' way into the field and if performance IS BETTER than the EQ800 - still to be determined - having an equivalent warranty overcomes having to make a decision of risking 1 yr of warranty for whatever performance benefits are gained. rich
  19. I'm glad to see that you had your internal discriminator turned on and you didn't pick up the dozen corroding zinc pennies and the 7 smashed and rusting bottle caps that were left on the ground in the same general area. cudo's on the note. rich
  20. 🙄. Chase . . . you are right. . . . looks like i need to do a bit of editing. . . . thanks for the heads up
  21. Guess we'll have to wait on somebody getting one to figure out what's on the box. I couldn't get a good look at Dilek breezed the box past the camera. And just my vote, Phrunt looks better without the Legend underwear over his face. Rich
  22. I have a Deus 1 and an Equinox. Ive had other detectors that i've used and not kept. For me, detector selection comes down to performance. The question i ask myself is how will the Deus 2 perform? My EQ800 has performed great for nearly 4 years. It is complimented nicely by my Deus 1. I find myself using my 800 most of the time and the Deus some of the time. My sense is that IF i purchased a Deus 2 it would balance the time used, perhaps sway it in the other direction. Friends are buying the Deus 2 and shortly i will have feedback from at least two very good detectorists that hunt places like i hunt in my region. I'm waiting on a report from them then i can decide on whether to purchase. rich
