  1. good shiz mate, you deserve that one for sure. all sorts of luck to ya.
  2. my take on the SDC, is that its a simple to operate and very sensitive detector and will see bird shot that the GPX4000/4500 will not detect with either the sadie or joey coils. When I got mine I took it straight to a patch that had produced lots of Au, and right away started to get targets...after about 20-30 bird shots I gave up with no gold. Yes indeed it detects small targets but that's not such a great plus to me when there is shed lots of bird shot present. Patience of a saint? no quite yet... Then I took it back to a waterway that had produced several oz's with the 4000/joey combo, time to clean up all the small stuff..good times ahead...yeah nah..not a sausage.. that's right, nothing , my thinking is the small gold the SDC can see, will not hold on bedrock in a flood situation, and more importantly I cannot poke and prod the round SDC coil around like the joey. A SDC that is lighter(its too heavy to swing all day) that is actually waterproof(mine would go crazy when the control box went under) and had a joey sized coil would be a great machine for sniping waterways and poking around mostly birdshot gold fields . The smallest piece I found was .02 grams from memory, that's more like a flake. .finding fly shitte pieces of gold isn't really my cup of earl grey anyhow. When they first came out I wanted one straight away, it looked like my dream machine, a underwater super sensitive PI..be careful what you wish for...sold it 4 months ago and lost $250 on the deal...I won't die wondering...and if a small elliptical coil does come out..well I probably won't be able to help myself... all sorts of luck to ya all
  3. hey all, I buggered my headphones in the first 10 mins of testing the sdc on a good producing patch, stood on the cord while standing up, too excited finding all the shotgun pellets.....need to invest in the wireless setup.. Quite disappointed I couldn't use the machine underwater this season but its been a wet/windy/cold summer anyhow..next summer, I brought it for helping in sniping gold, finding the drop zones in small waterways have used the at gold for this but find all the noise out of a vlf machine too much info for my limited brain capacity ... John , I brought it for a guy who spent a couple of months in skippers detecting all the high benches/terraces, showed me some of the gold, pretty nice. Other than the water issue its a pretty banging, simple detector, still amazed at the size of the gold it hits on all kinds of luck too ya all Steve, you have created an awesome forum BTW, nice work , cheers matt
  4. howdy, mine has same kind of problem, apart from it starts to misbehave when I get it wet up to control box making detecting impossible, its sounds off and goes crazy. Have never had it submerged which was one of the main reasons I brought it, going to send it back to minelab in Oz at start of winter cause im still using it away from waterways. cheers matt
  5. Howdy All, Nice find Pat, well done. I got a SDC a few months back but only used it few hours on local workings, finding only shot gun pellets my 4000 will not hear but being quite surprised how clear these signals were. Today I hunted an old patch I had thrashed with the 4000 and picked up about 8 small nuggets for about a gram, the smallest 0.03 grams that gave a solid signal, this really opened my eyes in 2 ways, one to actually see this size gold and how sensitive this machine is :) it was on 3 Be keen to hear what the smallest piece of gold people have found with a SDC matt
