  1. No, big winter storms hitting Shame about the storms. But I f you’re not going to be there then I’m not going either ? Hope those that do go have a good time ?
  2. Great info JR - I appreciate it. And yes, if I end up with a QED the final set-up of wireless transmitter, wireless receiver, possible booster and then speaker will be interesting. Thanks ?
  3. I'm not sure if that helps me or confuses me more ? I am seriously leaning towards a QED - mainly for the price point and weight rather than any advantage I think it has over a GPX. And 3 coils - a Sadie, an 11 inch something and a big, light search coil. As you can tell I have not progressed in research much yet ? The only other that might come into play is the Nugget Finder 15" Evo. I have a mate that has one of these that is killing it with a GPX 5000 on various size pieces. Very small up to about 6 grams and I'm sure bigger pieces if he ends up going over one. I have loosely been over ground that he has with the GPZ and found nothing. Just depends how the Evo runs on the QED.
  4. Sold pending pick up. Sad day. But also excited for what might be next and the research begins for something that is going to suit my plans at a price that suits expected usage. An SD? A GPX? A QED? Time will tell ?
  5. That’s a good point. Not all, but many on here, have got themselves an Equinox in whatever configuration. 5 seperate frequencies and Multi IQ across 3 different sized coils - so many options in 1 unit. Unfortunately for other manufacturers I’m barely even reading the specs of new VLFs. I dare say many others are the same.
  6. Some great advice above. And on unproven ground a pan, a shovel and a tub of water may be your best value option ?
  7. Hi longhn, Welcome to the forum. We all know where you are coming from. Buying something that is then superseded 6 months later leaves a sour taste in the mouth. But, you could almost guarantee that you won't know when it is coming out until the day it is officially announced. Very few people knew what the Equinox was going to be except Minelab and the testers. And the testers (like the forum owner Steve) are bound by no-talk clauses until release date. I would love to know when the GPZ 8000 is coming out (or if there ever will be one in the next 10 years). The 1 thing that makes me confident about the GPZ 7000 being around for another 6-7 years in its current format is the ability for it to be updated - just like a smart phone. It took 25 years for something different from PI to evolve, maybe it will take another 25 for something better than ZVT. But then again, electronics are evolving very rapidly now. If there was to be a change my guess would be that Minelab might try and simply put the current electronics in a lighter housing. Everybody loves the 7000's abilities but the weight is a killer for many. If you think that you are going to be able to get value for money use out of a GPZ 7000 now, then probably go for it...and cross your fingers it's not superseded ? Steve has one for sale on the forum right now that is less than a year old!!
  8. Very nice finds Gerry. The do-dad whats-it. Is there any remaining leather attached to the 3 things that look like rivets? I’m guessing it might be a piece off a saddle??
  9. It's a good question but I think the answer is "you can't". Just recently I logged on to the Minelab Australia website to ensure that I had all of my detectors registered as I was selling the Gold Monster. But there is no list of registered machines under ones name (that I could find). So, I just went ahead and registered all of the machines again just to make sure. It would be nice to be able to log on (like we do with car registrations) and see what is registered for warranty under our name, when it was registered, what day the warranty runs out, etc.
  10. The GPZ 7000 is for sale for any of the Aussies that might be interested. Mitchel or Paul might even be interested for your 2019 adventures?? Link to the ad on PA is here https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=29180 I'll be happy if it sells, I'll be happier if it doesn't ?
  11. I'm sure that a few of us Victorians can spend a day or two each with you Mitchell if you end up coming our way ?
  12. Difference may have been simply bringing things back to factory settings. Every few days and at different locations when I have played a little too much I Factory Preset and things seem sweet again
  13. Any gold is good gold Dave. But is it the chicken or the egg? Not going out because you haven’t been getting much...or not getting much because you haven’t been going out? ? Either way, have fun and have a golden Christmas ?
  14. http://golddiggerssafaris.com.au/ http://www.goldentriangletours.com.au/ https://www.heatgg.org.au/hill-end-story/what-to-see-do-in-hill-end/ This is just panning and more aimed at kids. https://www.facebook.com/wagoldprospector/ http://phasetechnical.com.au/ Our very own Phase Tech. Nenad can add more but I think it is just training days more than tours. But he might join us for a Vic camp out??? ? https://www.goldextractors.com.au/ https://goldandrelics.com.au/in-the-media Something going on with that website. It will take you to that page but not the rest of the content? Maybe just a short term glitch. http://www.eurekaprospecting.com.au/ http://www.goldprospectingaustralia.com.au/about-us So, that is just a summary of tour operators that people on PA have actually done trips with. Now, there are some other comments through those pages about a couple of dodgy operators and operators buying positive reviews and such things. Some of the tours done were a few years ago also. If you were serious about booking one it might be worth registering on PA and having a peruse through the pages ?
  15. That's a cracking bit of gold plus some solid follow up pieces. Well done and well done also to Lunk and Gerry - good service to set you on the right track ?
  16. Ah, I think it is in the members section. That’s why it’s not working. I can summarise them later tonight when I’m home. At the moment I’m pedaling the generator at the basketball stadium to get the air con working for the kids ?
  17. https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=22783 Try this one. I'm assuming it has worked for Steve and Mitchell?
  18. If you come to Bendigo there would probably be a bunch of us that would meet you somewhere and have a camp. Would be a good excuse for a meet and great. And you could always book a day with the forum's Reg Wilson https://www.diggerdownunder.com.au/
  19. Just tried the link from your post and it worked OK. Might be something to do with being in NZ - 3 hours in front but 30 years behind ? Seriously though, I only copied it today and it did just work then so not sure??
  20. That's not the word you "CAN'T" say in Canada. That's according to the song anyway ?
  21. There is a thread here https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=22783 where members have listed tour operators they WOULD recommend. There have been a few other threads about dodgy operators as well. Hope there is something there that is useful ?
  22. I had seen a movie called "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" pop up on Netflix and then saw Reg W comment on PA that he had seen it and mentioned there was some 'loaming' in it. Sat down to watch it tonight and it is a series of short stories. 4 stories in so far and they are all 'old west' themed. Some funny, some weird, some sad. Well, the last one we watched was called "All Gold Canyon" and about 5 minutes in I thought to myself "I know this story". I read it here on a thread that JW started - there is a link to the story in his first post. It is well worth a read and the short film does the story good justice too. Enjoy the read and if you get the chance enjoy the film - there is some very nice fake gold in it ?
