Hi Jennifer. Would be good to know what settings you are running in. Normal ground mode will certainly sound like that at times. Have you ferrite balanced and ground balanced all gold mode/ground type combinations before starting swinging? I'm just thinking if you have only balanced in high yield/difficult and then switched to high yield/normal it is certainly going to be out of balance. It is worth persisting with - it really sounds to me like it is a set up issue rather than a machine issue. I took the time to search JP's posts relating to the GPZ on this forum and put them in to a little bible for me to reference when I need to - it has been invaluable and from having issues at times to now running a real smooth machine and really understanding a heck of a lot more about the Z than what you can learn in the manual. An example is that when in high yield/normal modes you can ground balance by pumping the coil quite a few inches above the ground so as not to swamp the machine with saturation signal. They are just little pieces of the puzzle that were missing when the jigsaw was released. Also, did you buy this second hand? Has it had the 1st update done on it? Or maybe the new update will help? I can't believe that we were only bemoaning the fact yesterday that it hadn't been released yet. I need to be a bit more patient I hope you have some success in taming the Beast

GPZ 7000 2 1/2 Years On Where To Next ?
Northeast replied to Marty's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Evening Marty. There was a mention from a bloke on another forum that that they had been speaking to a Minelab person and had detailed a few things that were coming in a 'soon to be released' GPZ update. But that was about 4 months ago. I suppose JP, Steve, Lunk, etc may know more and may have tested things but probably can't say much. Would be great if a Minelab person had a presence here (or another forum or the Minelab web page) and could just give a general outline of what might come and what timeframe. I think that might also be the hope from all major detecting companies. But you can't hurry genius I suppose -
Minelab Gold Monster 1000 Begins Delivery
Northeast replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Finally had time to get out and have a decent play with the GM. As KiwiJW and Norvic are finding it seems to be a really good match with the Z. Found 3 with the Z and 4 with the GM - 7 pieces is the standard haul with the GM/GPZ combo isn't it JW? Wrote a few notes about how I found the GM here - https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=343170#p343170 Enjoy :-) -
Minelab Gold Monster 1000 Begins Delivery
Northeast replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
For attaching it to a broom stick Seriously though, I think it is there as a back up if you break the original shaft, if you want to make a shaft that suits your height (or even the height of a kid) or if you wanted to make a real shorty shaft that would make it easier to scan creek/mine walls, etc. And if all else fails in the bush you can find a stick of the appropriate size and use that. I've actually found the provided shaft a bit long so might end up using the extra bits myself. -
Phoenix, I'm not sure if that parameter can be variable but I agree 100% with you and I think I've seen others make the same comment - sometimes Normal is too much accelerator and difficult is too much brake - something in between would be nice.

A Video Introducing The Features Of The Gold Monster 1000
Northeast replied to Reno Chris's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Reno Chris - I believe there are a few detector companies interested in hiring you for their marketing departments. You're doing a brilliant job of giving us a little teaser and then leaving us on the edge of our seat waiting for the next release date Thanks for the first vid - but really looking forward to seeing the next ones with the Monster in action -
I think this report just put me over the line. Thanks californiagold. JP, when will you have them in stock again????

Aussieau. Coral trout. Blue bone. They are pretty good. Personally my favorite fish to catch and eat are Spanish Mackerel. Awesome to fish for, fight and great table fish with heaps of tucker off one fish. I miss the NT Barra are reasonably good tasting and are also great fun to catch.

Minelab Gold Monster 1000 In Mexico
Northeast replied to strick's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Shame that I can't speak the language but showed many of the things that I wanted to see. Thanks for putting it up Strick. -
Quality video JW. Excellent representation of the quality machines GER manufacture. Mobile, adaptable and highly accurate devices. Wish I'd seen this before buying the Z... Does anyone know if the company provide finance???

1) Automatic sensitivity option like the GM 1000. 2) 3 different user configurations. E.g. Option 1 is High Yield/Normal with low sensitivity, smoothing off, etc, etc.. Option 2 is General/Difficult, high sensitivity, etc, etc. You could program each option to the different combinations you frequently use and swapping between them would be a press of a button and not a selection of 6 different buttons. Probably make the thumb pad last longer too as the up/down buttons would be pressed much less when changing sensitivity, etc. 3) Dave's comment about the password is a good one.

My First Impression Of The Minelab Gold Monster 1000

Mr Herschbach, psychic extraordinaire A good write up from JP. And I know where you are coming from with the vid thing. I sometimes think about it and then naaah, just want to dig the hole and find the nail, can, button -

Lunk, JP, Steve - during testing did any of you take any video of the GM in action on undug targets, speccies, etc? One thing I've noticed since May 8 is that there have been no new vids posted to YouTube or ML website from testers or from ML. Obviously not going to see any from average Joe of course. Have seen the introductory vid from ML and the 2 vids on this forum with the African lads/lasses swiping a few small pieces. Has anyone seen some that I have missed? -
MT - better than beef? Is it similar to anything? Lamb? Buffalo? Pork? Eaten lots of different stuff but never camel or horse.

If you've got enough to buy a beer please don't waste it on a VB Fred Carlton draft, from a pub, served in a handle (insert a video here of Homer Simpson drooling and making that sound ).

Great write-up Lunk. After my experience today I know now I 'need' one of these. Very rich old mine with masses of football sized quartz chunks lying everywhere and great shallow gravels all around and targets, targets, targets, targets...and after the first 7 being junk I said ?$&( this and went somewhere else. I'm positive there is gold there but I don't have 10 years to get through the crap

Nice work Norvic. I'm heading to Bendigo for 3 days this weekend - if I come home with some decent yellow I'll have some more leverage with the old girl I did see on the other forum I frequent that a person who placed a GM order has received an email to advise that the GM isn't actually available yet and might not be until the end of May/start of June - anyone else been advised of this? -
Hey Fred, I went back to look at the pics of the lizard again and I also noticed something in your gold picture - an Australian 1 dollar coin. I had to have a quick check and confirm to myself that you are actually based in the USA What is a comparable size USA coin? Dime, nickle, dollar?
