  1. Your forum only review is even better than your Minelab review!! Definitely waiting for a few months to hear reviews from Oz but you are making it harder to say no. I suppose if anyone really wanted wireless they can add the pro-sonic to the package. Thanks again Steve
  2. Very nice review Steve. Norvic, can you let me know if the "Steve said I should buy it" line works with the treasurer? I want one, I'm not sure if I need one and I'm almost positive I will be in all sorts of trouble if I buy one
  3. Thanks for the links Steve. I did wonder if I was barking up the wrong tree. The old 'go low and slow' that I use for gold detecting is certainly different to their style on the vid - but considering their finds I'm happy that they know what they are up to They really have found some amazing stuff!!
  4. Hadn't seen that one either Steve. Maybe things are different when relic/coin detecting but would I be right to suggest the detecting technique of one of those blokes would be ineffective. Fast, wide sweeps with minimal overlap. Now that might be being nit picky since it's a vid for a wireless audio unit but it is also a minelab vid that is (hopefully) being seen by thousands of people world wide. Not all those people will have detecting experience and they then leave this vid thinking you detect like you are trying to cut the grass with a scythe And for me watching it, who has some detecting experience, I automatically start guessing if these guys actually have any idea what they are doing and should I be listening to them. Is that over the top of me?
  5. Not sure about the transferable warranty but recently had an issue with my SDC. Sent it back and they replaced the "Main PCB Assy. Pressure Tested and Field Tested OK". So they do fix things rather than just send out a new one. This is in Oz though so USA may be different?? Good luck.
  6. Lol MT, flattery will get you nowhere Are those famous Kalgoorlie establishments still operating? Maybe a 'weekender' is on the cards? Too long out bush?
  7. JW, they are the hands of a nurse and part time prospector. Washed in alcohol with moisturizer all week unfortunately. It was interesting that HY couldn't pick up the nails - both quite deep at over 1.5 feet each. Just reiterates what JP says about the different modes picking up different types of targets and how they manage the ground and how you should go over gold bearing ground with different settings to really cover it properly. When I get the B&Z I am going to do the exact same little area (maybe 3 metres X 6 metres) and see if I can get something else to pop up. If anyone is into palm reading can you see a 'golden' future for me??
  8. Out for 4 hours this morning. Tried some different settings on the Z around where I got the nice bits last week. Got 2 targets with General/Difficult that I hadn't identified last week with HY in either Normal or Diff. Tested those 2 targets with HY in Norm and Diff today but couldn't hear either. Both ended up being nails but was interesting that HY knocked them off the radar. Ended up with 1 bit of yellow for the day - not as impressive as last week though . .59 grams. B&Z hopefully arriving tomorrow
  9. Well it's a bit embarrassing...but Minelab GPZ 7000 and SDC 2300 bought on the same day. Might seem like overkill to have started with the best but glad I did. April 2016.
  10. Blimey, every cloud has a golden lining apparently
  11. Oh well, another will turn up. My in laws weren't driving across until June anyway - they got back to me this morning.
  12. Haha, that made me laugh MT. They are funny little buggers aren't they? Bungarra and blue tongue taste good too. Don't try cat though - quite ordinary
  13. Thanks Fred. Yup, focused on the next goal now. Have ordered a B&Z to see if that can liven up a few more targets in the area. I have been thinking about a B&Z for ages - this was the impetus required Adam.
  14. My parents in law are probably heading to Perth in the next few weeks. They are just waiting for another grandchild to hit the ground before heading over. I think the plan is to drive. Will check it out and let you know.
  15. Found them in the first 30 minutes this morning and by the time I was finished after lunch it looked like a war zone in the near vicinity - but could only get another tiddler. The 2 bigger ones were within 5 feet of each other. Will slowly work my way out from that spot. It's in hilly/undulating bush with lots of old timers holes around it so chaining not really an option. Might get some type of thin metal hoe and scratch out a 20 X 2 metre shape, search it, scratch out another one, search it, etc. P.S. I did pack up the war zone
  16. So some of you may have seen my piece I put in the thread about 'What are your detecting goals' as I was happy I had reached the goal of getting a nugget over 1 gram (it's sad but you have to start somewhere ). Well 24 hours later and I've got another. 11 grams is the big one. 6 is the littler one. And 3 smallies which have been my standard fare. Its been a beautiful weekend here in Northeast Victoria for Easter. These beauties have topped it off. Happy Easter everyone.
  17. Thanks MT. Public holiday tomorrow - I know where I'm heading
  18. It's all relative when you say it's nothing big bloodgold - I found my biggest piece ever today and yours is twice the size Well done. Hope they keep coming.
  19. So, about a month ago this was one of my short term goals. Back near the spot I got the .94 grammer today and found 2 more bits for .45 of a gram. And last dig for the day - smashed my goal I've found over 70 bits of gold for a grand total of about 9 grams - mostly fly shit as I like to call it - and 95% with the Z. This one was 11.05 grams
  20. I am certainly of the hope that new developments are available via software downloads rather than model upgrades. It is probably the single biggest factor that got me to buy the Z instead of a GPX.
  21. I'm in Oz Rick so not sure about USA. They go to Adelaide here.
  22. Just an update to this thread. SDC had been returned whilst we were away. Kevin from Minelab advised via email that they had replaced the main pcb and should have no further issues. I'm not sure what a pcb is but it sounds technical Fired it up this arvo and all seemed good. Thankyou to Minelab
  23. JP...thanks again. Going to have to think about getting you a Christmas present the amount you help us
  24. Apart from being handy to get to spots madtuna, could this also be handy in allowing you to better read the dirt, colour changes, the flow of different rocks, etc? I've been told that WA gold is often in very flat ground and it is often very hard to get a handle on where a run of gold might be coming from - just no rhyme or reason. Getting an aerial view of the situation might help??
