Garrett Axiom On The Way To Customers Now!
Northeast replied to 1515Art's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
And I think this is exactly why the majority of us stick around. Thanks for all you have done and hopefully continue to do 🙏 The extra competition can only mean good things for detectorists and the Axiom feels like genuine competition. I am really hoping someone near me buys one and I get to have a play and make some comparisons in my ground. Look forward to seeing more Axiom nugget pictures on here very soon 👍 -
I see Gerry has already responded. 1 thing to add is that Garrett have 3 DD options straight off the bat. I actually really like the DD on the GPX6 but hate the size/shape. A little 10X6 option would've been a great addition. Hopefully that comes from the aftermarket teams but Garrett have sure made a statement by having 3 mono/3 DD options at release.

Anyone Using The Nemo Blu3 Portable Dive System?
Northeast replied to AlbyM's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Hi GS, thanks for checking it out more. I did get on their U.S. website and went through to checkout but it then said that it could not be shipped to my location. All good, we have 2 distributors here in Oz and one currently has $300 off as a bit of a deal. Unfortunately I don’t want to purchase right at the moment due to REALLY high river levels. With only a 1 yr warranty I don’t want to buy until I can commence using it 🤷🏼♂️ -

Hi TTT, Glad to hear it is going well. Just wondering who you purchased through - Detect-Ed or underwater.com.au ? Are you using in salt or fresh mainly? Cheers, N.E. -
Just Minelab haters trying to start more BS. In the past few weeks I’ve taken the GPX6 back to a spot I’ve got quite a few specimens before and with a bit of raking got some more. They are tiny. You can see on the one I’ve zoomed in on that there is only a smattering of gold in it but the GPX6 picked it up fine. The audio has made no difference at all to sensitivity, IMO.

Can't see that this has been posted elsewhere. Looks good 👍 https://garrett.com/sites/default/files/pdf/2022-07/1535800.A.Axiom_manual.pdf

A recent and interesting vid. Even features a DP forum member towards the end... @Gerry in Idaho -
Blimey, that level of noise on silent threshold is crazy! Never had anything like that here out in the field except right under power lines. And the noise at 2.30 mins on your vid is like if I turned mine on inside my house 😳 I'm glad your speaker issue is fixed but yes, either your detector has some other sort of EMI issue or the EMI in your areas and the USA in general is just next level! Absolutely, a better size coil will make a big difference in the DD functions usability. I like the function on the GPX 6000 but hate the coil size. Garrett obviously worked this out pretty quick to be providing a couple of different DD size options on the Axiom right out of the gate!

Used mine for a decent amount of time last evening with speaker and headphones. To be honest, I don’t think there is any difference between speaker and headphones now. The ‘fix’ certainly hasn’t been an EMI fix as EMI was still an issue at times with a couple of noise cancels required. But, the real nuttiness when using the speaker and tilting the detector on its side seems resolved. Certainly hasn’t affected performance as multiple tiny pieces of lead shot and other crap found. 1 decent, disfigured lead slug (22-250 projectile or something) was found deep in some wet, red gravels. Thought I was onto a nice bit 🙄

I think yes. Or just take it into Nathan in Bendigo. I have found my 6000 a pleasure to use as well as generally I use a low latency blue tooth receiver and some sports ear buds. But, when I have used the speaker it has become unstable and annoying. When genuinely prospecting walking through the hills and just turning the detector on sporadically I would actually prefer to use the speaker. Now, I will be much more inclined to do just that. And yes, we are in the wrong thread. Where is the forum warden to clean things up? 😂

Gold Monster On Hot Ground In Wa

Thanks geof, I knew there must have been a few hanging around on here with some VLF experience in WA 😉 -
Gold Monster On Hot Ground In Wa
Northeast replied to Ethan in Adelaide's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Hi Ethan. I'm sorry that there hasn't been much response to your question here but it also might be a bit telling in that maybe many people aren't using the Gold Monster in Western Australia. As with many spots across Australia the ground in WA can be quite variable, very mineralised and have various amounts of hot rocks. However, prior to the introduction of PI machines a VLF was all that they used in WA. and they found gold so it is possible. I know with my trip to WA in June this year that on one of the little patches we found the Gold Monster would have located about half of the gold weight that we found as it was quite shallow and of decent size (multi gram). But, there were also many pieces that a VLF would not have got anywhere near. Not having used a VLF in WA myself I am loathe to give too much advice without much to back it up, but a PI would be a better option for handling WA conditions in my opinion. Travelling from SA to WA goldfields is a long way to go only to be disappointed and frustrated by ground noise and digging ghost signals. Something like an SDC would be a great beginners detector, if it is in your price range, as it is generally exceptional at handling ground noise and knocking out hot rocks. Hope that helps. Cheers, NE. -
Arvo all. Took my GPX 6000 into Miner's Den in Bendigo on Saturday. Nathan advised that he could get the 'audio update' done on Monday and post the control module back. It arrived today. Took it out to give it a run where I have been many times. It was easy to access and perfect testing conditions with spitting rain and 50 km/h winds Anyway, 10 minutes of swinging around on wet red clay, running in both 10 manual and Auto plus tells me that things are improved running with the speaker. Even turning the coil on its edge did not bring the usual wavery threshold. Did not have the headphones with me so can't comment what it was like with them. Most importantly, I found a tiny bit of gold about 1.5 inches deep in a flogged little area of ground. This is not important for the gold value, it is important as it shows the update hasn't provided any loss of sensitivity. I has been a long time coming and has been a much worse issue for others but thankfully Minelab have provided what appears to be a good fix. And thanks to Nathan at Miner's Den in Bendigo - friendly bloke, great service. Can't ask for more than that.

Steve’s 2022 Australia Adventure, Part 2
Northeast replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Even if we just take you out for dinner at a pub in Bendigo Steve, I’d make the trip. Should we send Mr Novakovich an email? 🤣 -
I happened to be in Bendigo on the weekend and dropped around to Miners Den as they are now an authorised service agent for Minelab. Left the box with the young fella there who said he would change out the speaker related component Monday (today) and send it back. Saves me sending it all the way to a Adelaide. Hopefully get it back this week so will be able to see what difference it makes. He did ask where I had found out about it - of course I said DP forum 😉 He said he has done a few over the last month or so. We discussed the cracked coil ears and I have decided I am going to keep the coil I have until it has about 6 month’s warranty left and swap it out then. Or earlier if they break. It is a good coil with no other issues and I am wary of swapping it out for a dud - especially prior to W.A. next year.
-
Amazed that the mine let it go for less than gold value but good on them for doing so and keeping it in W.A. Yes, truffling seems like it would be fun 🤩
-
That’s a great read Mitchel. And yes, very much like Sovereign Hill at Ballarat. This is a crazy amount of gold 😮 “In total four tons of gold were taken from a three km. (2 mile) stretch of Williams Creek.”
-
To be honest I can’t remember - here or Prospecting Australia as they are the only 2 forums I’m on. It was an ‘update’ in general. I have no idea what it will actually fix or change and even if the EMI/speaker issues can be fixed by an update 🤷🏼♂️ The speaker placement sure can’t!! Edit: 4th post from the top here https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/threads/axiom-release-in-aust.40125/#post-653037 Like I said, just a rumour 👍🏻

Hi Jen. I see your point but will point out that amendments have been made to the SDC - changed battery type as original compartment was no good in some and a couple of other things I can’t remember. And the GPZ had several updates and the ferrite ring added. Other GPX configurations were before my time so no idea if changes were made. None of the above may have resulted in an actual V2 but tweaks were made. Although, I sort of view the Manticore as Equinox 2.0 The GPX 6000 coil issues have been addressed - at least that’s what I’ve been told and have no reason not to believe. The EMI and unstable speaker may be addressed with a future update, of which there are rumours about. We will wait and see. Nokta, Deus, Minelab - every new detector release seems to have some issues. Unfortunately with the GPX 6000 there were too many but as previously mentioned, at least Minelab make things right for the individual. I’ve been out this afternoon and found another 5 small pieces of gold with the 11” (and 200 nails 🙄) so I am in a real conundrum re: what to do. I think it will get sent in but after the weekend 😉
