  1. Congratulations. This probably needs a thread of its own but, can you detect for gold in China? It isn’t something that I thought the government would allow. Can you keep everything you find?
  2. Pulse Dive 2in1 kit and a Nokta zippered finds bag ordered from Nenad just now @PhaseTech https://phasetechnical.com.au/product/pulse-dive-scuba-pointer-2in1/ I promise not to check the mailbox more than 3 times per day 🤞 😉
  3. 🤣 Madness 😳 It is at the top of the list at the moment. The big question is, do I get the kit with the smaller coil included or buy the pinpointer on its own and get just the big 8" coil. Decisions, decisions 🤔
  4. I did read somewhere that it actually works better in salt water - does that sound right? I am a freshwater based 'diver'. Although I won't catch and release any size piece of gold I am primarily looking for those 5 gram and upwards pieces as they generally add up a little quicker (location known to have multi ounce pieces up to a verified 10 ounce piece found in 1982 during a drought). Based on freshwater and size I am going for, is the Pulse Dive still top of my tree? 🤔 Or are the Pulse Dive, Scuba Tector and F-Pulse all optimised to work better in salt?
  5. Unfortunately only waterproof to 6 feet and no coil attachment. Won’t be used in the goldfields, just underwater. Still got the Pro-Find for the gold fields 👍🏻 But again, thanks for the suggestion as it is exactly what I asked for 😉
  6. Thanks Joe. I did see them but had never heard of them and wondered if they were legit. They obviously are! https://www.treasureproducts.com/index.html Yeah, shame pinpoint mode/coil mode can't be had in the same unit. Seem like a reasonable price too - even when converted to AU$. Although they don't make noise by the looks? Must be fairly decent vibration?
  7. Thanks Tony. Yes, they look OK but the underwater pinpointers are either a straight pinpojnter or a coil probe - not interchangeable as either. And the coil probe converts to about AU$700 😳 The price and the lack of local warranty support mean that I can scrub that one off my list. BUT, thanks for the suggestion 🙏 😉
  8. My Minelab Profind 35 has unfortunately been drinking too much and can no longer hold its breath underwater. On a brighter note, if it stays off the fluid it is still quite capable of stumbling around in the bush and honing in on those deep, deep bits of disappointing iron 🙃 So, I am on the lookout for an underwater pinpointer with one of those little coil thingo's that can scan a bit of wide area but also have the pinpointer end that can get stuck into the cracks and crevices. It seems there are really only 2 choices - the Quest Scuba Tector or the Nokta Pulsedive 2 in 1. Both are Pulse Induction, both waterproof to 60 metres, both come standard with similar size coils, both have vibration, sound, lost alarms and all that sort of thing. Scuba-Tector - AU$255 but only 1 year warranty. Nokta Pulse Dive - AU$309 but 2 year warranty. I think I am leaning towards the Pulse Dive for the warranty and I probably favour the Nokta brand. However, I think I prefer the fact the Scuba-tector pinpointer bit thing is a whole piece and doesn't screw off and screw on like the Nokta (less bits to lose). I did see the Scuba-Tector Pro but it doesn't have the pinpoint option, just the coil. So, Detector Prospector community...what are your thoughts? Have you owned both? Which did you prefer? Any issues? Depth of detection difference between the two? And, are there actually any other options out there that I am missing? Look forward to your replies 🙂
  9. Clearing out the old to bring in the …?? Better start squirrelling my pennies 😉
  10. Nope, still finding fly shite and specimens as small (if not smaller) than before 👍
  11. Unfortunately it is like fishing. If you catch a fish first cast you should just go home, you ain't gonna catch no more! Glad your first target was a good one though 😉
  12. The exact reason why I have purchased detectors through JP (Outback Prospector) here in Australia and a few items through Nenad at Phasetech as well. The dealers who have a presence here on DP do provide quality information and do take the time to answer questions asked of them, and to provide them with our custom in return can only be a good thing 🙂 Good work Tmox 👍
  13. Scary stuff! 2 things. 1) the video headline says warning shots 🤣🤣 I'm thinking 'bad shots'. They were so very, very close to the mountain lion that if they were truly warning shots then he is an excellent shot. 2) I am amazed how the lion hung around after the first shot and even had a bit of a think after the 2nd before slowly turning away. I thought it would have high-tailed after one shot 🤷‍♂️
  14. Without a doubt that lunker would weigh 0.91 grams Mr Norvic. Nice comp. Happy New Year 🥳 😉
  15. Or, pick up a GPX 5000 and learn how to use it. There are some crazy cheap GPXs out there now. The GPX6 and the Axiom have killed the market for them. I’m still super keen to try an Axiom at my local haunts if anyone is near Northeast Victoria with one 🙂
  16. 100%. We could do a poll on it but I think we already all know the unanimous results.
  17. Definitely meant to be 1789 - 1797 But it does look like a 2. Maybe damaged a bit? If it really is a 2 then it’s a misprint and maybe more valuable?
  18. Yes, good question. Personally, I am generally a ‘new’ buyer. I look after my gear and like the fact that I know someone else hasn’t dropped, repaired, tampered with or modded the equipment. The exception would be if I absolutely knew the item and the person who owned it. Some look after their gear like it was their child, possibly better 🤔🤣 To buy off the net with just photos - not my cup of tea. The alternative might be if they were a long term, respected person on this forum or Prospecting Australia for example. Or, if someone from the forum was willing to check out the piece of equipment on your behalf. If you don’t know what ‘good working order’ should look like and the item is for sale close to you, you could always ask the buyer if they would be happy for a dealer to look over the equipment. If Ethan took a GPZ into Miners Den Adelaide for example and asked them to check it over. Maybe they would charge $50 to do so but if it saves $6,500 by not buying a faulty item then it is an expense I would happily pay. A few ways to skin a cat but as always, buyer beware. https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/threads/how-to-spot-a-fake-minelab-gpx-5000.5333/
  19. Be careful on Gumtree, it’s just Scammer-Ville for a lot of things.
  20. Hi Strick. Thanks for your report. 40 odd coins, a chain and some keys in a well hunted park is a good effort 👍🏻 I am wondering if you’ve ever used a CTX and how you found the Manticore’s target trace on the pull tabs Vs the target trace on the CTX? Very similar? Did the CTX give more info and a better dig me/don’t dig me indication? Your profile mentioned a wide range of very nice detectors so I’m hoping the CTX was a part of that stable of thoroughbreds 😉
  21. So very similar to the WM08 for the Equinox? Shame the Axiom doesn't ship with the WR-1 in the standard package. But, at least they are available, they are reasonably priced and the transmitter is built in to the Axiom. Garrett and the Axiom - continuing to tick all the right boxes!
  22. Definitely an issue with other detectors but at least with the Axiom it has the speaker built in, and plenty of volume to boot.
  23. A question for the crowd. The coming coil range is very exciting for those that will have an Axiom. And good on Garrett for allowing it. VERY good move in my opinion. Does anyone know (or surmise) if the big coils will suit the timings of the Axiom? I’m guessing they worked well on the GPX 5000 as it was almost infinitely variable with its settings. Be interesting to hear the thoughts of those with some detector/coil/electronic knowledge (which is definitely not me 🤪).
  24. GPX6 is doing just fine on the gold. Equinox 800 is doing just fine on the coins, jewellery at the local haunts but that is only occasionally. Beach a couple of times per year. Waiting for the next gen CTX if it ever happens. Faster separation, better discrim to depth and hopefully a much bigger percentage of ‘I don’t need to dig a hole in this public area because I already know it is a crap target’ 😊 But watching the Manticore and its 2D system with interest.
