  1. When the ground gets nasty, the Eureka shines! I'll add one operating tip, Ground balance in each frequency, starting @ the low end. -Agree on the need of a booster and/or great headphones. -Get the Coiltek 6" round for it. I still use and love the 17000!
  2. 12" on a dime is about the limit for a nice faint, repeatable signal on any VLF.
  3. It's here already, comes with a waterproof shaft and battery pack, the SDC! :)
  4. I already have requests for 4 units from customers! Thanks Makro!!!
  5. ML is still supplying a battery with a known issue.....mic drop...
  6. Thanks Steve! I was just trying to explain this over the phone to a prospective customer. Whites has a great technical writing team!
  7. Right click and choose "open with".... Have a look at this site Fred, http://superuser.com/questions/184459/how-to-customise-the-recommended-programs-list-when-choosing-what-to-open-a-file
  8. Placer Gold Deposits of Nevada by Maureen G Johnson is a must have reference! Convert TRS data to GPS http://www.esg.montana.edu/gl/trs-data.html And a Google Earth plugin to determine claim ownership. http://www.minecache.com/
  9. Yep, It's not uncommon for the signal to cut in and out. I think it's a much cleaner tone when plugged in directly. I use a short (12") jumper cable to mitigate the problems Klunker described.
  10. The ML ID numbers indicate the ferrous/conductive values Mert. Its showing the target's FE-CO properties both numerically and graphically.
  11. Ya, I post this 10% off on social media, hopefully is spreads the word about this great forum! Steve is a "golden asset" to the detecting community!
  12. Taking pre orders now, like Steve said they should hit the shores in about a week. 10% discount for forum members! Chris Dealers, if your not able to see them on the distributes site, a slight glitch. Select the "shop by brand" tab, not the "metal detector" tab.
  13. I've got socks older.....this means the cans also... Had a FS archaeologist point to a pile of rusty wire rope, sardine cans and beer bottles and told me not to disturb them that they were protected, I told them it was Klunker's lunch spot and not to mess with his stuff.
  14. This charger is twice as fast as what ML provides.. http://www.mahaenergy.com/mh-c808m/..
  15. ID'ed @ 43/44 Chris detectoraid.com Meanwhile in Nevada :)
  16. I've seen several "chest mount" rigs. Yes to the coil extension cables, no to the GB button wire. (VTEK may) The units becomes just as fatiguing to operate with the loss of the counter weight of the control box. Also the coil cable swinging loose, in proximity to the coil (along with the control box) is problematic for obvious reasons. My choice is to use a upper two piece travel shaft and a light wight battery system. And of course a HipStick. Cables: http://www.vkteksolutions.com/
  17. Id hate to be a dealer sitting on stock that I purchased at the old dealer price of $7200 and now faced with selling them at $7999 then add any discount, (who pays full retail?) like the 15% military = $6799.15 Talk about gutting margins.......
  18. The BLM has proposed eliminating the SMALL MINER'S WAIVER for those of us who own ten (10) or fewer mining claims. This could be extremely costly and we are the only ones who can stop this. Here is the wording that I have cut-n-pasted from the BLM's information: "The proposal also increases the annual maintenance fees under the General Mining Law of 1872 and eliminates the fee exemption for miners holding ten or fewer mining claims." So, what we need to do is contact our members of congress and specifically ask that this be removed from the BLM budget. Get everyone you know who wants to save the small mining community to do the same. Explain why you are doing so. Write original letters, send them to your representative's district offices AND to their offices in DC. Call them if you can. This has to be stopped and only we can do it. The more it costs to hang onto our legitimate claims the less they are worth. While most of us cannot operate our claims full time, we should be able to keep them without paying more and more in fees. The small miner's waiver was created to protect the "little guy" and now the BLM is trying to get rid of it so we must protect ourselves and our most powerful weapon is the written and spoken word - directly to our elected officials. PM me for more if I can help in any way. Here is a link to the BLM budget https://www.doi.gov/…/appr…/2016/highlights/upload/BH007.pdf
  19. If she were my girl, Id have designed a break away connection. A low cost "key" (shear pin) that would snap first. Ill be holding a inservice on "falling with my Zed" this summer. Free bone setting with plaster casts, and lunch with early registration! Chris
  20. The new Detech coil, along with the new offerings from NF and Coiltek are marketed towards uses as a performance increase and the most common comparison or question from prospective buyers is "will this be as good or close to the Zed". My answer to them is, yes, this will get you as close to a Zed as possible today with your existing (pi) detector. Chris
  21. One good reason to hang onto or buy used a ML XT 17,000, its 32 kHz " the sweet spot" for gold.
