What id like to see, and I don't thinks its possible is the amount of ground thats leased from the big blanket claimants both private property and BLM public lands.
I lease several areas, its damn near imposable to keep prospectors from not knowing its leased. My signs just get shot, removed or ignored.
Thanks Clay!

Perhaps you can provide examples of your work beardog.
I do recommend Adobe Lightroom.

seems to me that if you file the claims with the county and then go to the blm and file before the 90 days are up you would not become the owner of the claims after the previous claim owners 90 days are up because your claim is invalid because you over filed his, you would still have to beat him to filing the papers after the 90 days are up.
That part of the problem, nothing prevents the locater from relocating or amending the location notice on the 83'ed (or any) day prior.
-
Risky business. Let's say a guy is doing that, just refiling at county every 90 days. I become aware of this. So I go in and quietly stake the ground just before the 90 days runs out, except I go straight to BLM and file with them also. If guy waits until the 90 day mark and refiles at county level, the chain to perfecting the claim breaks and they are now my claims.
Thats (or a similar method) worked for several of us fighting this "practice".

It's the 90 day wonders that fly under the radar.
Seems like half the "claims" being offered on ebay and such sites are just filed @ the county level and refiled every 90 days.
Ive even seen them in withdrawn areas and filed (county) over active claims.
This denies BLM the fees and data, and where applicable local taxes.
FWIW beware of any claim offering that has a document fee...

I wish I would have taken pictures of the 2, 4000's of a local miner, he just tossed them in the back of his pickup (where they sat over the winter) and they looked like they were drug behind it up and down Jungo road.
Made that 16000 look cared for!

Detect coils are built like a tank and they make several unique sizes unavailable elsewhere.
They also hold patents on shielding and a new spiral wound DD.

Ill let you know when I get them in stock.

I received a call from the head of customer service today.
This proves that ML is keenly aware of the power of social media and this forum's reach.
Was not able to take it as I was driving.
So perhaps I can find out tomorrow after a round of phone tag if the unit was received, I'm 99% sure its just that ML West has authorized the mail carrier to sign for deliveries.
IMHO the USPS should refund the signature confirmation fee since they did not fulfill our "contract".
Thank you all for the replies and suggestions!

I've liked this unit since I first laid eyes on a prototype Digger Bob had @ RP several years ago.
-
The thing that prompted the second call was who signed for the delivery.
It was sent with signature confirmation, the signer's signature was U UPS.
So I have no idea if ML west got the shipment or not.

Yes, I had local help and guided hunters. It was taken on Public lands. Actually the guide is a world class big game guide who gets $10,000 just to say hello to clients, my cost a dinner @ Olive Garden
Back to the topic,
Two phone calls (answering machine) one last Thursday and one today to ML west have not been returned.
Simple inquire that could have been answered in a few seconds.
Cant be bothered or too busy?

Mailed it off this morning $23 in shipping + $80 insurance.
Shaved it down to a 15lb box! All they wanted was just the detector, no battery.
Now for the Elk, backstrap by sunday!

Its really not that noisy to me, in fact it seem like when you do hit a target the machine quiets down and returns a nice obvious signal.
I pretty much run it like I do a GB2, maxed out.
Well articulated and succinct article Steve, Thank you!

Starting the process today.
The GPZ has lost about 10% of the screen pixels manifested in vertical lines, along with going totally blank a few times. So off it goes to the Windy City for repair.
Questions for those thats have returned a unit,
How long did it take?
Did you return everything or just the control module?
