Haha, I have 2 DJI Phantom 4's with their own camera, but there are drones made that will carry this sucker. I would get a new Phantom 3 or used Phantom 4 in that price range. Don't get a cheap one, you'll regret it later. I think I will get the new P4 Pro soon as it has a better and bigger sensor. And yes, dredging is banned in Oregon now. I went to Idaho last season but didn't do so well there. Might try it again this season different location...not really sure yet.

The grip is awesome, used it today. I edit with Final Cut Pro X on a Mac Mini. Little 4K editing monster.

Well folks and fellow prospectors, I recently sold 20 oz's of my dredging gold (still have lots left, lol) and bought me a Canon Cinema camera. The Canon C300 Mark II with a Canon 18-80 Cinema zoom lens. There are two things I love to do... Mine for gold underwater and shoot video!

For those curious, I flew my drone over the Gold Hill Pocket gold mine in Oregon and filmed it. The same we are discussing in this thread:

Hi Oregon Jim, I have found 1.6 oz's of gold nuggets along the Klamath with just my Infinium from 2008-2011. They are there, if I left any, lol. Got to swing it for many hours a day to cover as much ground as possible to hit some nuggets. As well as a lot of research. I kinda slowed down on detecting since I find so much more gold with my 6" dredge. Usually a detecting trip to the gold fields does not pay for gas like dredging does. I now just consider it a relic hunting trip that I might find a gold nugget here and there.

Thanks for the kind comments folks...had a slow last 2 weeks but I found 14 dwt yesterday and almost the same today right next to where the previous bonanza was. Hope I can hold out until the end of the season...by body is getter weary, lost 10 lbs already and I didnt have the weight to start with to lose, lol. My mining partner sold his dredge and retired from dredging so I moved mine up on that killer deposit so I get to keep it all now instead of splitting it.

Just a few weeks ago my mining partner and I hit quite a bonanza placer gold pay streak while suction dredging on the Rogue River in Oregon. We hit several 1 + oz days all documented on video. And a 2 oz day also... Here are a few videos we did to document the action: See more videos below...

My settings for beach hunting are the same as yours on my ATX, except I use the stock DD. Which is a pain in the ass in hard surf. Thanks for this great write up Steve, I will now give the 8" mono a go in the surf...Not much luck last week at Newport Beach California. Just gave up and played in the water.

Forget the 5"x10"Infinium DD coil on the ATX, yea it works, but the 8" mono goes way deeper and is more sensitive. Don't waist yout time... I'll be using the ATX and the SDC 2300 most of the time. I have not used a VLF in quite awhile.

Hi Tom, I just used a large mortar and pestle for crushing with classification around minus 30 mesh during the crushing. The contact zones and the dirt color just pop out at you that something is different. Plus the amout of quartz is definately a sign to investigate. I dont think I have any pics of the quartz, but I look to see if I do...

Here is a picture of the actual Gold Hill Pocket I took in 2012. And a picture of a 4 oz nugget found on the other side of the Gold Hill pocket in the Rogue River dredging in 2012. Yes, that is my hand holding the big nugget! The Rogue river is on the backside of the Gold Hill pocket in the pic and it was fed by many many small pockets and a large pocket complex that ran from inside the river all the way to the top of the next hill over from the Gold Hill pocket and stops at the bottom of a house's basement on top of the hill with an explosion of red iron oxide dirt that the pocket complex is contained in (contact zone). On both sides of the pocket complex are two different types of dirt, bushes and trees. Tale tale signs of a large contact zone. The less rich side of the pocket complex can be identified just by looking at the dirt, good farming type dirt. (dark brown color). The richer side (gold) of the complex the dirt is high in iron, quartz and drives a VLF crazy and is red and more deep orange color. Even the vegitation is different on the rich side. This is where I find gold in every piece of quartz I pick up (after crushing). Very thick quartz veins that ran across the river here contained large quantities of gold. This is the epicenter of the beginning of the gold in that area. Go 2 miles up river - no gold... Thanks for the info Steve. I really like pocket gold hunting with a metal detector. I know of 5 rich strikes within 40 miles of this Gold Hill pocket in 2014. I mean rich...sworn to secrecy though. Its still out there folks! GPZ 7000 anyone?? Oh yea...
