I guess I am wanting the EQ to be a Silver Bullet, so fingers crossed, If not then maybe a CTX or a 4500 I would be happy with either, but I think the GM is the best thing we have seen this past couple of years. so maybe that is a safer way to go and add a CTX then all bases are covered. I love the sounds of the EQ and how it behaves in that video,

I hope the Equinox is all it can be, I guess what annoys me is 2 other machines had those big claims and they fell short, and I just don't want to be let down again, As Steve said I use a machine designed in the 20th century all be it an updated model and since 1998 the best companies can come up with is making newer models waterproof, In terms of performance we are still back in the 1990s, I really want the EQ to raise the bar because I am sick of buying new machines only to find out they are all the same.
-
Lol, yeah your right there, I had looked at another machine it seems to have short comings, I hope the EQ is good because apart fro the GM and the 4500 and the Zed nothing else inspires me, It's funny that I moved away from ML and now they are the only company to offer anything I like, Maybe the Equinox is just what the hobby needs, heaven knows it needs a good shake up, If the CTX has the sharp 2 tone response like I am use to I would even consider one of them.

Well if it is advertising then they should be pulled in to line, because it is misleading. It is a Minelab so that should tell folks it is going to be good, every machine they make has some merit and excel at their given tasks, they don't need to write stuff like that, their track record is almost legendary, So who could ask for more,

The machine it's self has some great feature but I draw the line about bs regarding making all others obsolete, there is a lot of hysteria on many forums with wild stupid claims and people making up their own version of things, I think folks should stop the speculation and when it arrives then decide whats good and bad, I have not seen such nonsense over a detector whipped up by wild claims, No one has even got hold of one yet and they are trying to tell others how good it is, that is totally ridiculous.

New White's Detector On The Way?
auminesweeper replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in White's Metal Detectors
Yes, I have a US Quarter and 8 or 9" is the average that I can get on that in the ground, I also have a 1881 Morgan Silver dollar but I am not going to bury that one because it is almost like new, but I should imagine it would make good depth in this soil because it is the biggest coin I have seen apart from Russian coins from the 1700's which are about 2" across., -

The coins I have hit at that depth are British Victorian half pennies and pennies which are about the size of an old half dollar and are made out of copper so they hit pretty hard, they air test at around 18" and using the 3rd tone they will upset the threshold up to 28" so being the size they are it is no wonder I can dig them at that depth, I did see one guy dig one at an inch and a half deeper using the 12" coil. -

I find woodland dirt some of the best dirt to detect in, mainly be cause it is made up of leaf litter from centuries of falling leaves. -

Well the 5.3 can hit coins at 7 to 9 inches all day and some times at 10" on a good day and the 950 will hit them over 12" So I don't see the need for a 7" coil, Detech also make a 6x8 S.E.F. which handles hot ground better, The 5.3 is the hottest coil White's make for VLF's, and when the machine is cranked right up it can see bits usually found with LF machines which makes it perfect for shallow bedrock areas and it is hotter and deeper than the 6x4 shooter coil. The V3/V3i is a great machine but it has too many adjustment which are just not needed because most people just want to detect and not worry if they were using the right settings, The V3i is a first class machine but I don't think we will ever see such a complex machine ever again, White's have other machines that can fare just as well for 99% of locations and tasks and in some cases they perform better at less than half the price, The V3i has it all but tweaking settings out in the field is risky business no mater how well a person knows the machine because ground conditions and settings are so changeable, I think Whites have taken this in to account with their mid priced machines because their performance is right up there with the best of them. -

I am happy with what I have got, If I need more depth then I just change coils, In most soil conditions and depending on the size of the target can have a person digging way beyond what most people care to dig, -

Whites already make a 6" Concentric so a 7" would not add much, No matter what machines hit the streets people are never happy, The V3i and the MXT etc can all go very deep when matched with the right coils, The depth question is never far away but weight and waterproofness seems to be what people crave, personally I hate detecting in the rain, everything gets covered including me, -

I would rather see them leave the VLF's alone, the MXT and the GMT's work well enough, I would rather see Whites expand on the TDI Pro format making an all new high powered version of the TDI Pro because there is only one real option when it comes to PI's when it comes to raw power. The MXT was ahead of it's time being really powerful yet simple with sensitivity to match and modern machines are using some of those Ideas with good results with the new Impact and the Nokta Gold+ and the Relic and the Racer etc. These are good times for detectors with ML and XP doing the high frequency thing and not to mention ML's latest offering, I think we are going to be spoilt for choice soon -
New White's Detector On The Way?

I must admit the thoughts of what happened last year are strongly in the back of my mind and this machine looks the same apart from the colour, It will be good to see what new tech is hidden within, fingers crossed it has the goods. J. -
It's nice to see folks have a bit of luck, even more so with a new machine, makes all the long hours worth while, The only thing the pictures don't show is how hot it gets out in the bush, well done to you both, J.

I am glad to hear that the workers are being tended too, A couple more nuggets like that and you should be able to buy the place

Good Lord JR, that's an incredible tally well done mate brilliant stuff, Don't leave that fella out there without a drink, good workers are hard to find WTG,
-
CooooL , it is just keeps getting better and better, keep em coming,

Wow, Great job jrb, that is some success rate you have there, WTG thanks for posting it

It's a bit bright for me but I think it will save a few from getting damaged or left behind, -

Well that is a bright and cheerful colour, it seems like they are trying to appeal to a younger market with these bright colours, this is the 4th machine styled in the Treasuremate format, make me wonder how this one differs from the last 3 machines. J. -
Thing is John, even the guys with years of experience and flagship detectors have to work hard to find Gold, Our machines can find it but you have to be driven and know the right spots to find it. J.
-
Yes I was thinking that, Most folks here would not know how to set a machine up for finding Gold, When ever you mention it to people they seem to get side tracked or start doing other things. I have been reading some great threads here about using the CTX for nugget hunting, and then I had a thought and that is where the Zed does not like Salt pans and because the CTX is such a great Beach machine maybe the CTX would be a good choice for hunting the salt lakes in Aus and the salt pans in the US, ? A bit off topic I know but if I didn't say it now I would of forget about it, anyways feel free to edit my post as needed but as I did not know where to say or post it. J.
