  1. CooooL , it is just keeps getting better and better, keep em coming,
  2. Thanks for your efforts, I am starting to think that Nokta are the safest place to be when it comes to modern machine, It's nice to see the GB 2 still at the top of the heap.
  3. Wow, Great job jrb, that is some success rate you have there, WTG thanks for posting it
  4. It's a bit bright for me but I think it will save a few from getting damaged or left behind,
  5. Well that is a bright and cheerful colour, it seems like they are trying to appeal to a younger market with these bright colours, this is the 4th machine styled in the Treasuremate format, make me wonder how this one differs from the last 3 machines. J.
  6. Thing is John, even the guys with years of experience and flagship detectors have to work hard to find Gold, Our machines can find it but you have to be driven and know the right spots to find it. J.
  7. Yes I was thinking that, Most folks here would not know how to set a machine up for finding Gold, When ever you mention it to people they seem to get side tracked or start doing other things. I have been reading some great threads here about using the CTX for nugget hunting, and then I had a thought and that is where the Zed does not like Salt pans and because the CTX is such a great Beach machine maybe the CTX would be a good choice for hunting the salt lakes in Aus and the salt pans in the US, ? A bit off topic I know but if I didn't say it now I would of forget about it, anyways feel free to edit my post as needed but as I did not know where to say or post it. J.
  8. It is surprising how many machines can't hit Gold and all the machines fitted with large DD coils fared the worst, and the machines fitted with the 6x8's fared the best along with the Deus, I am sure the MXT with either the 950 or the 5.3 would have hit that target, most likely the 5.3 would have, If the T2 had it's normal coil I would have expected it to have got it too, but not running the 15x12 SEF coil like that. J.
  9. Over the years I have learned that a machine might work well in one place and not in another, my MXT smoked my Etrac in my junk filled sites and the Etrac had the edge at the beach, I sold the etrac because I am not into beach detecting, the fact is they are both good machines, As to performance Location plays a bigger part in detecting than the Name on the detector, and finding the best detector is impossible because no mater where a person is in the world Geology has the final say. J.
  10. Thanks Tom it is good to see that Whites has taken on board past events and raised the bar in how they market and deal with the public, I like many modern machines but American Made does still mean something to some of us, In the mean time we wait patiently to see what Whites R&D bring out next. WTG Tom, John.
  11. Yes Steve, you have made the trip over here and done really well with the machines and coils you used so you would know what ground conditions are like here, I have searched some of my sites with DD's for a few years and when I changed to concentrics for some reason I did a lot better hunting the same ground, I like DD's but my success rate on old coins has been limited to say the leased, I have lost faith in DD's because of that, because when you sweep one way and get a high tone then you turn 90* and this time you get a low tone which normally means junk, But what happens in the video does cause some concern because a concentric will ID a target in both directions which makes me wonder how many targets do we walk away from when using DD's,, and the fact this guy in the video is using two "very" budget detectors and they can ID the coins does make one think, J.
  12. I found this video that clearly shows why Concentric coils are better than DD's, This Guy is using a mid priced machine and two budget machines one costs about 200 bucks and the other is about 350.00 bucks both fitted with concentric coils, I have used concentric for years although I own a few of DD's I don't use them because they restrict any detector way too much, many people say you need a small DD for target separation well that is just not true in most cases and I find that they just don't work well enough along with the fact that they miss ID targets and lack the sensitivity of a concentric, Having proved this to my self using my GMT. J.
  13. I would hate to get caught in one of those ones with the big teeth on it that are about 2 foot across, So far Jim I have not come across any of them, J.
  14. They have one heck of a spring on them, I don't know why they made em so powerful I don't take that much to kill critters. J.
  15. jeez I bet that would hurt, them Gin traps really shut with a bang,
  16. Hey folks I just spoke to my ML Dealer ( Main UK Importer/Distributor ) and it will be in the shops here by December and the standard Coil is an 11" and there is a 6" and a 15x12". hope that helps J.
  17. I just found this and as funny as it is It makes ya think and maybe we should be a bit more carful. J.
  18. Thanks for the link Steve, Since I posted my question on that other thread I spent the night going through all the threads here relating to VLF's and Gold and ground balancing and there are still hundreds of topics to read, But one thing I learned is that there are 2 machines that keep popping up that unintentionally have become the yard stick as to which all others are measured, One I own and the other has been on my "Shall I or Not" list for quite some time and it sort it irritates me to a degree because I like the GMT and now the newer GM 1000 and that second yard stick is the Gold Bug 2, No matter where I look these two machine keep popping up and it is hard to be impressed with what ever is the next must have machine, the new ones come out and they fade into the shadows within months and then the race is on to bring out the next offering, I wonder if Jimmy Sierra and Dave Johnson and Co realized at the time in their quest to make these Detectors the best they could be when starting their talks back in 1998/2002 that they would still not be bettered 15 years later or more ? Sure we now have some space age designs along with blue tooth technology etc but where it really counts out in the field the fact remains that these two machines are still at the fore front of detecting which is a contradiction of terms considering their age, but there again one look in the mirror and I still feel relevant. J.
  19. Thanks Steve, well I was wondering how it stacks up to the VLF's of the past IE the F-75 and the MXT and the 705 and the Gold Bug Pro, because all four of these machines are still relevant even today, I guess I am wondering are there any new machines that inspire because so far I just don't get that wow factor from any of the machines from the last 5 years or so like I did when I bought my first Ol faithful, Like you say we hit the wall way back but I was kind of hoping there was a glimmer on the horizon, J.
  20. Yeah Mike, I like the Impact, the important things for me is can it do the job and I don't like searching menus so I like the on screen direct access where you just highlight what you want and get it done. J.
  21. Steve, Did you ever review the Impact, I just check your review pages and it says this, Quote:- More information will be presented here within the next few days as it is released by Nokta. J.
  22. I love the speed it has, I have waited years for ML to bring back machines like this, In fact it was the loss of the Musketeer Advantage that was one of two reasons why I changed brands, I like all the frequencies it has, they have really listened to what people have said to them and other companies and it is waterproof as well, The weight is going to work for many people too, Weight has never bothered me with detectors for me it is more about how the machine balances, another really great thing is how uncluttered the screen is and the touch pads have the same symbols that we are use to seeing on ML machines. All up I think those who buy it are going to be very happy. J.
  23. I totally agree Steve, just look how computers and Phones have changed and now they have changed the way we live, I see these new machines having a niche all of their own and people will have other machines designed just to run big coils, which is not such a bad thing, If the weight is added in the right place even heavy machines within reason can still be good to swing, IE the GPX, These new machines are the future, the Deus showed us that with its cutting edge design and I am all for them, But I think when they state that their machine will make all others obsolete I find that offensive and untrue. On some sites the speculation is that it is better than the CTX and will even make It redundant, which is a bit crazy considering the cost of the CTX and I very much doubt that ML would do that to them selves and risk loosing around 2100 dollars by bringing out a machine at a third of the price, either way at last ML have bought out another machine with lightening speed which we have not seen since the Musketeer Advantage so well done ML They have also made a 13x15 coil for it which a bit of a worry as to will that destroy the light weight ergonomics of the machine because it does not take much to push it over the top. anyways just thinking out loud here and I wish them well just the same. J.
  24. No I look after my machines and I keep them looking like new but every time they bring out a new model I replace mine with the latest version, I started out with the MXT-300 which was the same as the first MXT E-Series Tracker but the 300 had a new Matt paint job and the 12"/300mm Concentric coil, Then came the MXT Pro which also had the new matt paint job and 7 Tone ID and a 3 level back lit display with the addition of the ground grab button which updates the ground balance at the push of a button or if you are hunting in Tracking and you find a target it pauses the Tracking so tiny targets do not get tracked out,, On the 2 earlier models the pinpoint trigger had a sub mode where if you pushed the trigger forward it had a pull tab notch which was great for use in younger countries but not in countries that date back a few thousand years because some Hammered and Roman coins can have the same VDI reading and you risk loosing them using the PT Notch, On the MXT Pro this feature was replaced with a new non motion mode when the trigger is pushed forward which is great for tracing pipes and cables under ground along with finding long object such as Rifles and swords etc and the MXT Pro also came with the same coil as the MXT-300, The MXT All Pro is exactly the same as the MXT Pro except the All Pro comes with the same 10" D2 coil as the V3i, hope that helps, John.
  25. Well I see a couple of issues with the design of the Equinox, 1) being that it has no weight under the Arm cup so that will make using their larger 13x15 coil a bit of a pain and 2) One of my pet hates is because there is no box or weight under the arm cup looking at the height of the handle with the pod stuck on top I think this machine will constantly fall over. John.
