  1. Well The best way to get her to do the digging is to Start and keep making a mess of it and they get the ump with ya and take over, But don't ask her how she did it coz she will start giving you lessons, Next minute ya on ya Own, doing the digging. Huh,, and they said Romance is Dead I still got it after all these years,.
  2. A couple of Days Back I noticed that Inside the front cover of the Manual on the Right hand Page If you Look at the Last Paragraph Jimmy S, States There that The GMT Can Use The Older Goldmaster Coils, And I must admit I am seeing A Huge Target Size Difference, The Last Piece I tested I can not pick up and I had to use pointed Surgical Tweezers to get a hold of it, The Twin D 6X10 can't even See It, Come to think of it Neither can I,,,lol john
  3. I cant Spell Archaeologist either, Oh %$£& I just did, Haha,, I cheated and used Google, Miss Spent Youth is my excuse and I'm Sticking to it. john
  4. Yes Chris that is Another concern along with being followed, Of coarse Detector theft is A major Issue and if your Data is Lat/Longs are in the Z then your secret is out there for others to exploit. Lovely Gold, Thanks for posting the Pictures,, John
  5. I'm Sure you meant The 7005, And did not mean to lead them A Stray The 7005 comes with a Taser Built into the hand grip on the GPS Button, just To discourage them Nosey Types,
  6. , I found that to be A Hot Coil Too, It's no wonder he is doing so well, I hear the newer ones are water proof?? Thanks again,, John
  7. WTG, That's quite a Haul, I don't think your Missing Much, What coil was you using to find those little ones?? Thanks for posting them,, John
  8. I agree with you Steve, although I do a lot of Air Testing My main reason is to see if the Coil will pick up Tiny Items and at what distance Because although they are not what I am Looking for, the better they can pick them up the better they will pick up the coins and things that I am looking for and also I do these tests to check out the Coils Detection Field This is the most Important Part of Air Testing because I Once bought A Coil that had me wondering why my finds rate had gone down, So by using a 0.12gm Test piece I started to Map my Coils and I do this with all coils, My Sovereign GT with the 8", 10" and the Platypus could not see it yet when I put the Little Joey on it could and then I started finding Silver Hammered Coins and the Depth of the 10X5 On Thinner sectioned Coins was A lot better than the Bigger Coils. Of Coarse Things have Changed and Moved on and now Most Machines and Coils Are Fire Breathing Monsters and it is now getting harder See differences with all these different Models. John
  9. Thanks to You Rick and Steve, I now have More Options, I won't Forget That Mate, Good Luck,, John
  10. I can see how this Detector based GPS can be A Bonus, Having had my back pack stolen with my GPS, Phone and food supplies and water in it Not 30 feet away from it and certain test pieces as well, That got to me that much I stopped detecting for 5 months, Well done Minelab for making such A Useful set up, I think all a persons Data should be safe as Minelab are more about Selling Detectors than going prospecting and I would think that their workshop computers would be confined to an internal system and not be connected to the outside world, When I am going to an Area I look it up on google Earth then Take co-ordinates from features within the area and place marker pins on the Photo and print another photo without any markers then I email them to my Tablet so then I have all the info to hand which is then also on my phone, When I go off to some of my spots I have the Internet if I need them so I can use Google Earth if I need it or spend the evening searching for new features, Then when I am in the Field I use A Garmin GPS 76 because it does not have mapping software keep popping up on the screen and the only info that is there is what I put there. Here's A Tip for all of you that use G.E. If you use it on A LapTop you can see features that you won't on A TV type Monitor, I found by Accident that if you Tilt the Screen backwards on a laptop It made Ghost Features stand out and I managed to find a Roman Villa By doing this, Then I took the Co-ordinates off the screen as well as putting pins in the picture and then I took them to the field and then I Gridded the area with marker pegs and string and kept doing this until the whole area was done, And I found Roman floor tiles and Roman Coins. So before you head out give that a go because old waterways and Dwellings will show up to about 15 to 20% better, It Does not work so well on tablet PC's either Thanks Steve for those Beautiful Pictures, John
  11. G'day Argyle, A couple of years ago I Took my first MXT Pro back home To Nambour QLD and I did find 3 small nuggets with it, The combined weight of about 3.3 grams and it worked well there, So I thought, but after that I was wondering about if there were any deeper nuggets, And To be honest I have never used the Tracking because I always lock it and use the Grab, But I get so focussed on detecting I do tend to forget to up date the tracking or pay attention as to when I need to update it, So I become the weak link, I have to be on Guard all the time to make sure this does not happen, With the MXT I love the Smoother prospect mode compared to the GMT because it sounds harsh / Sharp, On tiny Bits the GMT see's them a lot deeper but once the Targets get up around 0.15+ grams the MXT seems to start catching up using the Standard 10" Coil, So I need the 6X10 to see A Fair comparison, Because I am over here I have never come up against any Ground that is A Problem, Some of it does get quite high but nothing too serious, Having Tried quite a few other machines the MXT and the GMTs I seem to be at One with, I was always under the impression that the GPX was Bullet Proof when it came to Aussie Soil, So thanks for pointing That out, It just goes to show that there is no perfect detector and the fact is we need many to cover all bases, I have A TDI SL because it has the Target selection switch but I am still looking at the SDC and a GPX Thanks for Clearing up so many myths, Real World Info is So Hard to Find, John Thank you for your kind words, But it was Steve who Started the Fire, I just Chopped the Wood, He got me thinking about the GB II having a Concentric and although the GMT has all the Extra Bits on it, So what would happen if I put a Concentric on the GMT, Well the First thing I Noticed was it saw my tiny test piece at 3 X the Distance and the Real surprise was how my Test Ground Balance went from 79 down to 65, which to me says the Longscan (concentric) has some kind of smoothing effect, Which hopefully means I can use it in hotter ground and still find those Tiny Nuggets, And That would explain why so many folks love the Older Goldmasters, Because it has Made my GMT see bits As small as the GB II, But I have A Meter and Auto Tracking, So I now have A Goldbug Master or A GMT GB II, lol. either way because of those 2 changes were so huge I would urge others to try that combination, Also this set up has the Ability to see the gold that the Shooter Does maybe smaller?? it means you can cover more ground but not loose sensitivity to Gold that you have to wet your finger in order to pick it up, I haven't tested the 8X14 concentric yet. Hope this helps,, Good Luck,,, John
  12. In the past we have used VLFs for Nugget hunting and everyone was over the moon with their machines and since the Birth of the PI a lot of people put down VLFs, Which is A Bit unfair Really, We have seen all the manufacturers Telling us all how good their machines are and about the Difference with their tracking systems etc etc, In OZ a certain Famous Gold Nugget was found with A Garrett and that was a VLF although the nugget was Huge it was found about a Foot Deep, No Doubt our Machines have moved on Since the 1980s and Now we have different types of Tracking systems, The Theory of these system is to Balance out the Ground and keep the Detector running Smoother by making the Ground Invisible to the detector, Well If This Is The Case then why when we GB our machines Does the Ground still give us Problems, Like Drag down the VDIs or make Gold Give an Iron Signal or Reduce the Depth of the machine when the Ground balance was supposed to Take Care of that Problem?? So If the Ground is still causing problems It makes me Wonder if I am in fairly hot Ground and I wave my coil Over a 2 ozt Nugget ? ( I wish ) would I still hear it at about 7 to 8+ inches using My MXT, Or Would My GMT do it better. I know the 14 kHz will work better and deeper in hot ground, But after reading A Famous prospectors comments I am not sure about which machine would find that 2 ozt Nugget easier. Thanks Guys,, John
  13. G'day Mate Can you tell me did you make these or Buy them, Because I could use 2 or 3 of these, John
  14. That's adapter is a problem for most owner, But that is what happens when they use a Military Platform to make A Prospecting Machine, Mind you I love that Idea and the Recon/ATX, But that's just me I love Military Grade Gizmo's, But that don't Suit Everyone, John
  15. Thanks Check that's Brilliant, that will make One Lucky person very Happy. john That's Ok, What ever you think works best, It's just a bit of light Hearted Fun. I'm happy to go along with what ever, John
  16. Ok that's Fine I will Think up something easier and less involved but fun all the same. Thanks Mate, John
  17. Yes, something simple, IE we Submit a Story/Topic Like some that we have had this past month, we could pay $1.00 or $5.00 To Submit it or what ever people decide the amount should be and The Best One Wins the Pot, John
  18. Steve I was wondering if you would agree to a small Competition Here, Nothing serious just a bit of Fun, IE for the most Inspiring stories, Or the person who perceivers to succeed whether it be a new machine or chasing that elusive First Nugget or even the Biggest Nugget, Basically to the person who does what he can even when they keep hitting a Brick wall, Or what ever other Reason you can think up, As you might of Guessed I got A few Ideas, Thanks Mate,, John
  19. See,, That's what I like about these Top Companies,,, That Extra Mile and another Machine Ready to Do Battle, The More I read about the SDC the More I want One. I love that VLF Nugget ability that it has and it does it all day Every Day. WTG MINELAB,, True Champions.
  20. Thanks Steve, So although this 6x10 Longscan see's the same Tiny test piece's as the Twin D does just at twice the depth then The Next coil has to be the 4x6 Shooter (DD) I have never thought much of the shooter coil But some times the 6x10 Visually gets in the way when you are trying to see into cracks in bedrock as you sweep. Thanks Again Mate,, john
  21. Does anyone know if there was a smaller Coil than the 6X10 Long Scan (concentric) Coil for the Early GM Series Like the shooter or a round version? Thanks everyone,, John
  22. When I first saw this machine My Thoughts were not good, but the more I see this Machine the more I want one

  24. Reg has been So Patient Ever since the SL came out Answering questions, When it comes to the SL despite my findings I still Ask Reg, If you find something that works for you That's Great, and what ever others say, Reg is Still The Best Man For the Job, I think it's great how you have got Coins popping out of the Ground, Keep up the Good work, I would like to know why your VLF never saw Them. Thanks for Your Post
