  1. On ya, John, we`re like a pair of kids with new toys, and why not indeed???

It Has to be Done Mate, Now I've just got to sort the Coils and the I'm getting a Small RV/Camper So I can put these to good use

It's good having the GMT and the TDI SL But It's Not Complete without A MXT Now I got all Bases Covered, I don't need A 5K over here because there is Toooo Much Iron in the Ground and other junk so I need machines that can weed out most of it,

So By September-ish I will be set,

I think I have found A Roman Site Too, So If the Gold Is Slow then I have other Options In Place,

    Living The Dream,,HH

  2. The 8 inch round coil is excellent for general detecting.  I like it better than the 950 on the MXT.  Also the 5.3 inch/6 inch or whatever you want to call it is an excellent coil for trashy areas.

I have had the 950, 12", 5.3, 6X10 and the 8X14", But I have not seen the 8" one are you talking about the 8X6 sef coil??

I have ordered the 12", 950, 5.3 and the 15", If I am Chasing find Gold I will use My GMT for that and I have 2 Concentric's on the way For that Machine.

That Little 5.3 Is really Good in Hot Aussie Ground, It handles it with ease, So that will be one I take back Home with me, Gold Search Australia Did some good reviews on the GMT and the MXT with the 5.3 Coil,

    Here it Is

Steve went over there and enjoyed the virtues of Aussie Dirt, lol.

  3. Let me qualify myself. i'm new to the board and only have a few months of using the MXT Pro, but i absolutely agree with you. I found a few nuggets with the 10" DD in Alaska last year when i first bought the MXT Pro, but didn't even try coins in the park behind me until this spring. the 4"x6" DD is much more sensitive than the 10" to small stuff.  I recently acquired the use of a Detech 13"DD and am getting much deeper coins and decent separation, and it weighs 1/4 pound less than the 10"DD. i look forward to using the set up in N. Cal later this summer.

you are going to enjoy your new MXT!

    J

Yeah, I have Owned the MXT 300 and The Pro and now this New One, The 10" coil is nice But for wide open space's I like the 12" and the 950 But the 6X10 is A Good little thing, although the 10" one is smallish It Air tests on Larger Targets at massive distances,

Now I have all bases covered, I just need to buy more coils, I have picked out 5 so far and my Dealer is going to get them in for Me, So Many happy hours Ahead Testing,

Welcome To DP and enjoy ya self there lots to do Here,

    John

  4. G'day Folks, I just got my New MXT with the 10" DD coil and so far I Like, It see's a 0.06 gram piece at about 2 - 2 and a half inches Or 1.0 grains

And a 0.03 gram or 0.4 grain piece at about 1/2", That's not bad for the Stock Coil I can't wait to Try out the 6X10 or the 5.3

So Far I am Liking this New Set Up

  5. When I look at the page it says item relisted at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Whites-Goldmaster-II-2-10-6X10-Longscan-Metal-Detector-Search-Coil-50kHz-/171803420606?

    Don't know though beyond that.

Steve, Thanks for posting that I just won the Bid, I got it for $99.99 plus $63.50 Freight,

That should give it an inch or two depth and be a little more sensitive,

    Thanks again Mate,, John

PS, time for bed this time zone thing is a Killer.

  6. Bit the bullet and have a Deus on the way, son has a CTX so we can compete??? on the coins, have been having some fun with the 705, enough to get me back into coins after 20 years plus just gold. NQ OZ But as to which machine for coins???? GPZ for gold in my part of the world for sure, can imagine what it`ll be like on those smallies once a small coil is available. Guess the coin market is huge compared to the gold, thus all the options.

I'm From the Sunshine Coast, Just A few inches South of you On The Map, Only wish the Drive was the same distance, lol.

Congrats On your new Machine, I don't think there is A better machine for Junk filled sites and in Old Ghost Towns your Gonna be Unstoppable Now,

Let us Know how that works out for you,

    Good Luck HH ,,John

  7. It does get very confusing when these things happen even more so when there is No Press release about such things, Because the Manual shows the GB number of 77 and my machine says 50, My first reaction was there was something wrong with it, for 2 reasons my old GMT said 77 and my MXT said 50 so panic was starting to set in,

    Not to worry, Aye

PS, I just Ordered A New MXT All Pro, So now My Machines are All Up To Date and Under Guarantee, so that's Paid for and should be here By Thursday,, Happy Days,,,

    Thanks again Mate,, John

  8. Oh Ok, I was under the impression from a Video last year that Jimmy S got Whites to change A few bits and the Screen Now has A Sign that comes up that looks like the Christian Fish Symbol and the Numbers 41 next to it and when I phoned White in Scotland the Said it was the Newer Software Update Number and they Changed the GB Numbers from 77 down to 50 Upon Start Up and Jimmy talks about that in the Video Too,

The Manual still shows it at 77 so that prompted me to phone Whites, What ever has happened it's not like the one I bought in 2011, Its picking up Hammered Cut Half pennies at 11" to A Foot,

    Thanks for your help,

    John

  9. Steve, I am wondering In that Area where you found that 6+ozt Nugget which Machine would be better out of the GMT and the MXT?? Baring in mind that It appears that the Software In The Newer GMTs seems a lot more powerful, In Air Tests It seems to be a lot deeper or maybe I just have a bad memory, But it Picks Items up from a HUGE Distance and If it Losses 50% of that distance in the Ground ?? Then It is Going to Be Awesome Out In The Field, So I am Wondering Have I bought A Mutant GMT or are all The Newer ones Like This??,

As you have pointed out Many times that the MXT works better in Hotter Ground, But with this GMT I am Not so sure Now

With the 5X9 (6X10) Twin D coil it is seeing things at the Same distance as my MXT 300 did using the 12" concentric Coil, we all know that coil see things about 5 or 6 inches more than the 5X9 Eclipse Coil Does, So Something In The Power Department is really Set to The MAX with these Newer GMTs,

    Thanks Mate,, John

  10. no doubt about it,  the gmt is hard to beat for sensitivity...

    fred

It Finds bits smaller than A Pin Pointer can, except the MD20, the pictures don't do it justice, Because that small bit is Really hard to pick up with your Fingers, The more I play with this machine the more It surprises me, It seems A lot Hotter than my one I bought back in 2011, They have changed the Ground Balance setting from 77 down to 50 and the Newer Software seams to be really Hot.

    john

  11. G'day Folks, I have been testing the coil /Machine out today and I thought I would post a couple of pictures of how sensitive the standard Coil Is for future reference, The Small Bit is less than a 10th of a Grain and the larger Piece is around about a 10th of a grain +/-, the Scales fluctuated and the Bigger piece varied up to 0.2 grains

The Smaller Piece was giving a Signal at 2 Inches and the Larger piece was reporting at 3 inches,

    John

  12. Amen to that, I think my favourite is the GMT but I can't imagine Life without an MXT, The GMT is so powerful since they did the software update sometime in the past 2/3 years since I bought the last One In 2011 so it must of been A 2010 model, I would love for whites to make a 12/300 Concentric coil for it, I'm sure it would melt the nuggets before ya Dig em.

    John

  13. The TDI SL is a great PI for nugget shooting in nasty mineralized ground and beach prospecting for jewelry in wet salty beach sand. Simply switch out coils and you have a new machine for the task at hand. MXT Pro for multi purpose detecting, coin shooting and nuggets in tailing piles (replaced it with the F75).  For areas known for quartz specimens or I'm digging out crevices in a dry stream bead.....the GMT (or GB2) is  machine of choice. Speaking of dry stream beads; dig out crevices below the water line, classify to 1/4" and dump buckets of material into a couple wide mortar tubs, filling each to about 2" to 3" deep and spread even. Take the GMT w/4x6 shooter coil and go over material at least twice re-shaking between checks. The GMT will find very tiny pieces of coarse gold and most of my finds doing this have come from the minus 1/4" classified tub.  Keep the tubs in a spot that allow the machine to run at high gain and stay balanced. Prospecting in the desert where water is mostly for drinking inspires "creativity" sometimes. I don't know what kind of prospecting you do but I will say you couldn't go wrong owning all 3 of these fine machines.

Yeah I got the TDI SL and the GMT and The MXT All Pro So I have all Aspects covered I love the MXT But The GMT has my attention at the moment, But I keep Drifting towards the SL and because I like them All it makes it real hard to stay focused on the one machine, Heaven forbid if I take them all out for a walk,

Thanks Steve I had no Idea, I have just Bid On It so fingers crossed

    Thanks Mate your A Diamond.

I Have a nice concentric 14" Whites "Sierra Gold Max" coil with cover. It's not the DD one, this concentric is no longer available.

    $90 shipped

Rick, I am In The UK

  15. SWEEEEET, You done real well to find that out there,  Good Job.

I read the about the MXT and the GMT on Gold search's web pages and they say they do very well in Hot ground In OZ, I am going to bring mine when I come home and then maybe find enough for the 5k or the ZED, I would like to go out in the middle and find a patch where no one has been,

I have seen some amazing picture of leaf gold on the net, they must be worth a fair bit??

  16. Would not be difficult to make up the lights without blowing the budget, a couple of small sheets of that frosted white glass or plastic as a diffuser,  over a soft led light. Few blankets hung strategically to keep stray light out.. The digital SLR have macro modes and a million other features plus I see you can download macro apps for smart phones. But I`m really impressed with how the beauty of such a small speci can be shown.

Once I`ve prospected the area I`m currently checking out must go back to that limestone country, easy country to prospect, fairly flat, just a lot of it, and not aware of any indicators but believe there will be. The mighty ZED will love it. Bloody Goddess of Gold she rules.

The ZED costs a fortune here, It costs over $16,600 aud.

How did the GM2 perform in that ground??

  17. I gave up getting a better picture and took it to a fellow who has the gear. Nothing out of the ordinary in his gear. A digital SLR with a macro lens, mounted securely. As he explained to me is the lighting, he sits the specimen directly on a light diffuser with a very soft light under it, another diffused light above and offset a bit just a wee brighter. No shadows at all, no intense or stray light in a darkened room. He uses it to sell coins and postage stamps, thus no need to focus with depth as you can see in this shot

You got me thinking about this and I got out my Digital SLR that my brother gave me last year, I tried a couple of shots but the Batteries were flat so I charged them up and I will practice with it and see if I can achieve what he has done here,

    Thanks for the info,,  john
