I just returned from the 3 Days Field Training and the Manticore really impressed us with the small M8 coil and the tiny gold nuggets we were able to recover with it.  I'll post picks in a few days when I get caught up.

Why you evening looking at Mail Order & Amazon dealers who don't actually use these detectors for a variety of hunts and has Success?  But some of you will and that's ok as it leaves much more treasure for those of us who know how to properly use these detectors.

I don't have an XRF analyzer. 

I have seen some similar in a certain area in California that's very close to Reno.  Also, some Chevron pattern gold has come from Venezuela and it's spectacular as well. 

Yes it would be interesting to learn how these rare pieces of art actually form.

The most amazing one I seen from RP was a 1 ozt.  Stood about 1.5" tall and was a triangle with 3 sides and a bottom.  Most amazing chevron on all 3 sides.  The finding was an old friend from Reno area that used to stay down there weeks at a time in the 90's.

The amazing piece in the pic below was recovered by one of my Field Staff just a few miles down the road.  Beautiful gold has come from that country for sure.  This is a pic looking from top of the rock, notice the hole.

Pic below is the bottom of the same nugget.  Most interesting, there is a hole right in the middle that goes all the way through.

Left is 1.5 ozt and the right one is 1/2 ozt.

Lunk some of our previous customers were out there the last couple days and each found a few.

Rob scored 3 with his Garrett Axiom and DD coil.

Well done my friend but hopefully you'll get a little more excited next time.  Now I realize you have dug more gold rings and gold coins than most could image as well, so maybe the big excitement of a nugget is not as meaningful?  Here's a fact for you, that size nugget is way more rare than a gold ring or even a gold coin find.

For those who don't know, he's been chasing old coins/relics/rings for many years, but the pursuit of gold nuggets is pretty new (the last few years) to Andy.

The GB-2 has a Love it or Hate it relationship with many.  It's my favorite VLF to train customers on as I can toss a small piece of gold in front of them and most newbies can't find it. After the 3 days Field Training, the customers are so in tune, they're loving it and finding gold. 

Gold only detector, for the masses I would much rather sell a GM-1000. For those few who want to Succeed much sooner and be dialed in with their detector, it was the GB-2.  Now the Equinox 800/900 and 24K have taken over GB-2 sales for the most part as they can do more,  tell you more and handle a variety of soils better than GB-2.

Just imagine a new detector that would provide us the same success we had in the 90s with our SD-2100 or GP-Extreme.  Those days were incredible,  even here in the US. 

My Field Staff Experts and I appreciate all the kind words.  Yes we know Gold Detectors to the tee. Yes Rye Patch NV is mostly cleaned out and the pickings are slim.  But we do find gold and have never done a course that no gold was found. 

Now I'm a straight shooter and pull no wool. It's the Training, Knowledge shared and learned. It's the building of confidence on your detector. Those are most important to me for our customers to walk away knowing. 

The best location means nothing if you don't know the detector, it's capabilities and pros/cons. YES we teach Cons of ones detector as well.  No use swinging if that kind of gold is invisible to the detector. 

The top price detector does you no good for same reasons mentioned above. It's much more important to have Detector Field Knowledge and be confident.

Do most folks pay for training?  No.  That's exactly why most folks who have purchased gold detectors have yet to find gold.  Education my friends will save most folks alot of trips, wear & tear, and gas money.

Why do I say this with confidence? In the early 90s I had over 15 yrs of successful detecting experience. But not at finding gold nuggets. 

Even though I was swinging detectors in 70s and 80s with great success, chasing gold was new. Then started hunting Au in 90s and 2 yrs later still ZERO gold. 3rd yr I paid for Training and have been finding ounces ever since. Funny thing, I was and still am finding gold at those same locations I 1st tried on my own with no Success. 

I do have some openings for the April class as a group of 5 just canceled. My Field Staff Experts and I are ready to spread the knowledge. 

May a few of your deep digs be golden. 

Pic is over an ounce of Northern Nevada gold I found my last trip there.  That was November of last yr.  

Chuck, Those stores who used to educate the staff are almost non existent.  It's also the same with the detector manufacturers these days.  Yrs ago the manufacturer would have training classes the dealers were required to pass in order to sell the new model of detector. That was yrs ago with a different management. 

Today, it's all about moving the product and making a buck. Ethics have been tossed to the curb. Customers have YouTube. 

Yes many detectors can be picked up on Saturday at yard sales, eBay, Market Place. I feel most folks selling them had no clue what they were purchasing in the 1st place. I'll blame them for their lack of success. 

Both detectors 6 vs 7, have their strengths and weaknesses. When the GPX-6000 was 1st introduced into the Goldfields in the United States, it was easily the King of recovering missed gold of the GPZ-7000. 

As time has progressed and the options of smaller lighter coil options for the GPZ, it's showing more small gold capabilities (at an expense).  Sure wish the coil manufacturers would be a little easier on the wallet, but at today's gold prices, they can get away with it.

Sometimes just the change of Settings will help gather a few more nuggets and that's why so many hard core hunters realize, a site is never 100% hunted out.  Heck, just a simple thing as soil moisture content or EMI, can easily effect a detectors capability and miss a nugget that otherwise would have been heard. 

Very interesting read and just goes to prove that not 1 detector is best for all situations. 

At these prices, even the little GPX-6000 bits are worth collecting.

Am I wrong? Is there something else that I should have said?

X-Terra Pro would be a strong choice as it has a variety of coil options from all 4 of the Equinox detectors (600, 700, 800 & 900) as all those coils will work with X-Terra Pro.  Also, the 100% Waterproof feature is nice. 

Yes the Simplex is a similar priced detector that is very popular as well.  I don't sell as many of them so I can't tell you the Pros/Cons of each, but I think coming from Vanquish to X-Terra pro would be easier than to a Simplex.

What is the condition of the GP-3000 box, arm cuff, arm grip and coils?  Is battery still good?
