  1. Since I did not do this when I responded to your second thread first Welcome to DP the best forum on the Net
  2. With the Budget you set the Deus 2 is way outside that budget at almost three times the cost of the legend, which pretty much has the same capabilities as the Deus 2
  3. Dont take me wrong I am not saying the AT Pro is a bad detector because it is not, for me personally I just never took to the ATP like others did, I have always felt it was a way over hyped detector I just feel for the same money or less there are way better options in detectors out there than the ATP,
  4. I have never understood peoples thinking on sensitivity settings, running maxed out on the sensitivity and then complaining that there is to much noise going on when if they would have just been willing to cut the sensitivity back a bit most likely it would have eliminated the ground response, I like to run my detectors pretty hot and do not mind a little bit of feed back from the ground, but there is a time to drop sensitivity and times you can run maxed out sensitivity, and most people want to run at full gain all the time, which a lot of times can not be done
  5. The Legend is a great SMF packed full of features that the Apex does not have, read my reply to your thread
  6. Since our ground here in the U.S is quite different from your ground phrunt my hopes are the company sends at least one over here to someone like @Steve Herschbach to do some testing, so us U.S detectorist can get an idea on the E1500 also Hint Hint AlgoForce LOL
  7. since one of the things you said you want is water proof i personally would scratch the vanquish off that list, the Vanquish is not water proof only the coils are waterproof, As JCR stated a SMF will be your best bet. For me personally I own a At Pro and never did take to the ATP You might consider looking at the new Nokta Score and Double Score also the Legend those three are the best bang for your Dollar when it comes to SMF Also you might consider the Xterra Pro, the Xterra pro is the cheapest of all the detectors I have mentioned but it is a Selectable single frequency detector that has a good beach mode from my understanding, the reviews on the Xterra Pro on the beach have been pretty good Another detector you might also consider since you are going to be detecting beaches is the Garrett Apex, the Apex is not water proof but has very good reviews from beach hunters again the Apex is not water proof though but the coils are water proof, the Apex is another SMF or Multi frequency detector all the detectors I have listed are in the budget you have set except the Legend you may have to add a little bit more money out of all the detectors I have listed I only have experience with the Legend and the AT Pro Just some food for thought As for a pin pointer a pin pointer is not a necessary accessory to have but is a nice accessory to have it makes target recovery much easier and quicker than not having one.
  8. I picked up a Xp ORX in a trade deal, it came with the 9 inch HF coil I have personally never used any of the Xp detectors, and felt it was time to give one a try,one of the main reasons I wanted to try the ORX was because of how lite and compact they are, I wanted a detector I could carry in a back pack when I went out nugget detecting while I was swinging the Axiom, and I felt the ORX checked all the boxes in what I was wanting it for Now my question is I am thinking about also picking up the 9.5x5 HF coil for the ORX also would that coil be better for nugget detection over the 9 inch round HF coil ???, I do know the 9 inch HF coil runs up as high as 59 KHz and the 9.5x5 elliptical HF coil runs up to 81 KHz Is it worth picking up the 9.5x5 HF elliptical coil ??? Thanks for any and all replies
  9. Since I am so new to using a PI Steve at this time I would have to say no I could not ditch my VLF's and turn to only using the Axiom for everything I would be totally lost doing that at this point, so I see your point It does seem this new PI is very interesting though, thank you for clearing this up in my mind
  10. Reading through this thread and all the replies, I can almost see this as a replacement detector for the VLF's I use, am I wrong in my Thinking on this ???, I could see using this new detector instead of a VLF Gonna keep an eye on this and @phrunt and @Steve Herschbach reviews on this one
  11. Following being so new to the world of PI i would not know what to suggest, everything that has been suggested sounds great to me, the one thing I am having a hard time with is the squared off noses on the Axiom Coils, if I had one wish is Garrett or an after market coil manufacturer would come out with some more pointed and smaller coils, in Mono and DD other than that I am happy with the Axiom so far, if some of the things that are being suggested can be done with updates great.
  12. Holy cow you could purchase a brand new Garrett 24K for for that much, that is kind of ridiculous to me
  13. That is one of the biggest things I like about the 24K and the Axiom, with the 24K you can either unlock it and run in tracking or lock it and let the GB stay fixed until you need to change it for the ground you are on Axiom is the same, that was one of the things with the GM1000 that I did not care for was the fact it was always tracking and personally for me I just never trusted the tracking on the GM1000, I never worked so hard with a detector trying to keep on the Ground balance which was almost a constant thing with the GM1000
  14. Yep I was the same as you in them early days, but the way I look at it were all life learning experiences
  15. @Skyfired69 For me personally if I wanted to purchase a detector for the purposes you intend to use it for and I set a budget of $1500 I would consider purchasing two detectors one being the Nokta Legend, the Legend is a great all around detector and has a very good dedicated gold mode and I know there are some on here that are, thinking why would he suggest a detector that he had issues with well those issues have been resolved now, and I have always felt the Legend was a great all around detector, even though I had some updating issues. The other detector I would seriously consider is the Whites TDI that is posted up for sale on DP no it is not a Mine Lab or even a Garrett Axiom but the TDI was not that bad of a PI from what I have read about it, its already had the mods done and again would be a great way to get your feet wet in the PI department Doing what I have suggested above you would have a great all around VLF that has a pretty sensitive gold mode as well as a very good PI and you would most likely be into both for less than the $1500 max budget you have set for yourself In the end only you can spend your Money the way you see fit to spend it, there have been several great suggestions from people here on DP, and you have many options to consider.
  16. I am not even going to go into the stupid things I did in my younger years, I did some pretty stupid things when I was young, things that I look back on today and say what to hell were you thinking back then, some of those stupid things could have cost me my life (Thank God) they did not, at least in my 60s I am smart enough to not pull the stunts I did in my teen years and 20s, I look at these kids these days and see some things that just stop me in my tracks and then I remember hey stupid you did some things that were just as dumb back when you were their age
  17. Personally speaking i would also consider the Garrett GM 24K if I were you, I owned the Gold Monster 1000 and there were things I did not like with the GM1000, it had bad coil knock sensitivity, and a few other things I just did not care for,and do not take what I say as the GM1000 as saying its a bad nugget detector it is not it was very hot on small non ferrous targets, have never owned any of the XP detectors or a gold bug 2 so I will not comment on either of those, I just think there are better nugget detectors out there than the GM1000 and in my opinion the Garrett 24K is one of those that I feel is better There is a very nice PI for sale in the Classifieds section that is a good buy in my opinion, if I did not have a PI already I would have jumped all over this already, I believe its still available and I think it would make a great first PI for someone something you need to think about do you want a all around detector or do you want a gold specific detector What part of AZ are you located
  18. Yep we are all in good company that's for sure
  19. I would have been freaking out when I realized I had just backed over a $9000 detector, its great that it ended up the way it did but man were you very lucky to say the Least
  20. Thats the one I am really interested in also, but having a choice of four would be great
  21. Here is how I look at it when I own a detector, I purchase as many of the available coils for what ever particular detector, I would rather purchase the coils and have the options whether I ever use all the coils or not because there will come a time I run into a situation that a big coil will work better than a 6 inch round same goes for the 6 inch round there are times it works better, it is the same for all coils there are times I use that little 4x6 when I need it, if I didn't have it i would be wishing I did, when I am out detecting I do not like putting myself into a situation where I am wishing I had this coil or that coil, when I go into a spot to detect I carry every coil I have purchased with me for the particular detector I will be swinging, just like the Axiom, I purchased two other coils for it also and am planning on picking up a third extra coil just to have the options for situations that arise that call for a different coil, if I never use one of those other options oh well it does not matter but if I need a different option i have it That was one of my issues with the Gold Monster was the limited coils that were available, there were and still are only two why ??
  22. I love that little 4x6 coil it is very handy when you are in areas where you have to get a coil in between very tight spots that the other three coils will not fit into, on the opposite side of the coin i also love that 14x8 when you have areas that you can swing a bigger coil like larger open areas that do not have any or very few obstacles to get around, all four of the coils for the 24K have there place of use
  23. although that 4x6 is out there but, it does take a bit to locate one that someone is willing to part with, I just happened to be looking at the rite time and I am not one that is afraid to ask if someone is willing to sell things separately, it took me a month or so and calling people that had them before I finally was able to locate the one I have
  24. yep if you would had read my whole thread you would have seen that I stated the faint signal ended up being a piece of wire
