What's the difference between discrimination and notching, like is there a difference under the hood?

Does discrimination give you clipped tones like notching can??

I just got a deus 1 machine so I'm curious, I am coming from nokta machines which only have notching

Since no one has responded to you

when you Notch a target ID out you are discriminating anything in that target ID range out, so they are one and the same in my opinion, and yes those discriminated targets or notched targets can give you a clipping sound when you swing your coil over them

Has anybody used the Golden Mask brand metal detectors?  I believe the company is from Bulgaria.

    https://www.goldenmaskdetectors.com/

Yep I actually own two, The Golden Mask Pro 4 WD and the Golden Mask 7 love both of them, had to order directly from Golden Mask to get both, and yes they are in Bulgaria

The GM 4 WD was the first one I ordered from the time I ordered the 4 WD to the time it was delivered to me was 7 days and that was with a 4 day hold up in Customs in Cincinnati Ohio

The Golden Mask 7 from the time it was shipped to the day it was delivered to me was 5 days

I could not have asked for a purchase and delivery to go any smoother than those two detectors went

The 4 WD i did get a little nervous when it got hung up in customs in Cincinnati Ohio for 4 days

(was Having visions of the FBI) showing up at my house LOL being as to how it was the first time I had ever placed an order like that with a company I knew nothing about, but I will tell you Golden Mask goes out of their way to try and make the transaction go as smooth as it can go, I would not hesitate in making another purchase directly from Golden Mask Again very good company to deal with, shipping charges are quite high is my only issue with purchasing directly from Golden Mask though

The GM Pro 4 WD is a selectable Single frequency detector that runs 8 and 18 KHz you flip a toggle switch to change frequencies all analog detector

The GM 7 is also a Selectable Single Frequency Detector that runs 4,14,24 and 44 KHz according to Golden Mask the GM7 is 80% analog and 20% digital, the GM 7 has Park, Field, Beach and Gold modes

I use both the 4 WD and the GM7 and honestly They are both so good that I can not figure out which of the two I like the most

  3. I do wear hearing aids and I also experimented with my hearing aids connected to the Nokta Legends Bluetooth which is aptX LL audio codec, while my hearing aids did connect to the Legends Bluetooth and I was able to hear the tones from the Legend the Lag was pretty severe, could I have detected that way if I had to of course but it would have made locating and digging targets rather tiring LOL

the hearing aids I have have two settings one of the settings is to turn them into wireless earbuds for listening to music, you double tap one or the other and they will switch to headphone mode, again they did connect and you could hear the tones from the detector but Lag was an issue

I joined the Facebook Group. Showed a picture with a large amount of early coinage. The Header read, good morning from Virginia. Some early English cut halves were shown. Three persons attacked me with various insults. You would think the guy who went to Harvard could read, 😷, I guess not. I was a this and a that. Strange the rules said these kinds of remarks are forbidden. Never said I dug them. Just posted the picture to inspire the newer detectorist.   Your turn now! 😇

yeah the Facebook people are a little different, honestly I do not think there are no rules on there for some

  5. well I spoke to Rita at Garrett this morning and told her parts were missing from my order again

(and no I did not get nasty with Rita) not her fault LOL, she did ask me what I meant by again so I told her, that I have placed three different orders through Garrett Direct and each time I had to call in to get things sent that it plainly states are included so she looked up my past and current orders, and said she was taking notes and that they would send me the missing accessories for the transmitter, we exchanged pleasantries and hung up the phone, fast forward a few hours latter and I receive an Email from Bob Richardson Director of US consumer Sales with a heart felt apology.

Bob stated in the email that he is going to bring up my issues with the shipping department and use it as a training opportunity, for their shipping department, I honestly believe that Bob is going to do as he stated and things may get corrected in the shipping department of Garrett Direct, he also stated they do not receive many calls with complaints about missing items in orders, and stated Garrett will get them corrected so it does not happen again, he also stated that they shipped my missing accessories out and threw in a couple of items to thank me for bringing this issue to their attention.

I was pleasantly surprised at receiving that email from Bob Richardson, very good customer service on Garrett's part reaching out like Bob did

Thank you to Bob Richardson and Rita as well as Garrett

If there was alcohol being served at the anniversary party that could explain the little opened box and the missing items!! LOL

Thats a possibility LOL, Alcohol and work usually does not mix very well LOL

Does the box come with a packing slip ?

there was no packing slip in the box that it was delivered in, which I thought was a little odd also

The other thing I found odd when I opened the larger shipping box that they shipped the transmitter in the smaller box that contained the transmitter was literally open, like someone grabbed the box the transmitter comes in and just threw it in the larger shipping box, but if the parts that are missing were there when they threw that little box in the larger shipping box then the missing accessories should have been in the larger shipping container, of course this is all speculation on my part LOL

I think the new Lite package price has become a permanent sale, in other words the new price; it was meant to be just for Easter but now that wording has disappeared yet the sale is still going.   Good news if this is the case.

They're down to 13 in stock now from I think 40 to start with.   27 detectors sold from one dealer (Garrett Australia) so far during this price adjustment.  There are a number of other dealers running the sale too.   $135,000 Australian dollars in Garrett's pocket they probably wouldn't have without doing this price adjustment, it's just a shame they didn't enter the market at this price as uptake would have been much higher.

I'd call that pretty successful, a lot more Axioms roaming around Australia now than before.   Speaking to X-coils too, requests for Axiom coils have started to pick up with more owners of the detector in Australia, that's a very positive thing for the future of coils for it.

when you adding one of them Axioms to your stables Simon LOL

  10. I am like @Jeff McClendon the thoughts of it are nice, but until it actually becomes available for sale in the U.S i aint loosing no sleep over it LOL, my interest are still there but when it becomes available, then I will become excited again LOL

And yes to your other question I am also thinking about other detectors I would like to try LOL but I am always thinking about other detectors I can spend my kids and my wife's kids inheritances on, in other words when I am dead and gone there aint going to be no inheritances left to go to anyone and I have a long ways to go in spending before that happens LOL, so what is the next purchase I am planning you might ask well I am currently looking at the Nexus MP v3 rite now or the Nexus MP v2 just cannot make up my mind which one I want at the moment LOL

DSMITH, this sounds like a training issue with the persons responsible for pulling all the parts of an order, and a quality control failure in that no one verifies the contents of the order’s fulfillment before shipping it. Seems pretty easy to fix.

Well you would think so, but apparently its not so easy to fix because it just keeps happening, I can not be the only one that this happens to, if I am my Luck is worse than I thought LOL

you would think someone at Garrett would see these calls that keep coming in about missing items that it plainly states is supposed to be included and fix the issue

Watch their 60th Anniversary video  it introduces you to many of the staff, including Mary, looks a nice lady.

They may do a great job of fixing the problems when they arise but perhaps not getting to the bottom of why they're happening in the first place, especially if the problems are split between two people so they may not see how often they even happen.

Pure speculation of course, but three problems with three orders is a bit much so maybe it needs some higher up intervention, or maybe you're just extremely unlucky.  Either way, an earful isn't usually the best approach, a good explanation of the issues will go a long way to fixing the problem for yourself, and may help others in the future from having the problem too.

An angry person with a problem gets the problem resolved with the bare minimum treatment, a nice person gets the problem resolved with a smile and a thank you.

Here is Mary, look how busy she is, look at all them sticky note reminders all over the place!

I will be calmed down come Monday phrunt, just venting at this point, Mary is a very nice Lady and I always try to talk to her with respect and she has always done the same to me when I do call, same goes for Rusty

i am just upset because of the situation that you and I have spoke about in PMs, and that is the reason I purchased the Z Link transmitter, was to see if that would resolve the issue i am having with that detector, so now it will be next week sometime before I can check the Z Link out on that detector, I am not even sure that the Z Link transmitter will even work for what I want it for, I can use wired headphones for a little longer just do not like using over the ear wired headphones.

I do know something needs to be corrected at Garrett so people do not have to go through what I am going through rite now

Wow, that's crappy, sorry you've had such a bad run.

Rather than an ear full it would be best to speak to the right person, someone high enough up the pay grades to matter, and explain the problem you've had with your orders.  It's more than likely the people that need to know aren't even aware of the problem.

We all know they're going to make it right for you, but the problem only gets resolved if the right people know about it, and often the right people are the people that don't find out about mistakes.

well who would be the higher ups that I can ask to speak to, I have always talked to Rusty or Mary

In the US at least, it seems if you call customer service, there is a 99% chance you will speak with Rusty. He is very good at his job, and I'm pretty sure he's got about as much pull, as any situation requires. I rate him a 10 at his job and problem solving.

Yeah I usually get Rusty or Mary both good people,

I too had that issue with a coil cover not coming with a new coil, when it was clearly stated to be included. It's frustrating for sure. Garrett has great customer service. I like them alot. Unfortunately it doesn't sit well when you have to keep calling them to fix mistakes they made. Hopefully they start seeing this soon, and keep loyal customers coming back.

trust me they will get an ear full Monday when I call, it should not be that way, and like I said personally for me it gets real old real quick

I also like Garrett and they always take care of the mistakes that are made in their shipping department, but you would think at some point they would get tired of hearing the complaints and would correct the problem, where ever that problem is, is it the actual shipping department or the department that boxes everything up in the individual boxes that items come in, it is quite obvious there is a problem that needs to be corrected some where in the line.

Edit - Jump to Issue Resolved!

  17. Why is it every time I order something off of the Garrett site parts are missing from what I have ordered, it is getting just a little bit old for me personally

my first order from Garrett direct i ordered the 7x11 FC DD coil for the Axiom it states when you are looking at the coils for the Axiom Coil covers are included 7x11 DD coil missing coil cover I.E Skid plate, I call in and they send me out the coil cover

second order I place an order for the 16x14 Mono coil for the Axiom, again in the description it states Coil Cover Included, call in they send me a coil cover for the Axiom 16x14 Mono

third thing i order one of the WT-1 Wireless transmitter kits, in the description it states included with this kit, one WT-1 Transmitter, one USB Charging cable, One 1/4 " Headphone Jack cable and one Mounting strap, it even states this on the box that the transmitter comes in, so I receive the WT-1 transmitter kit today in the mail, open up the Box and everything except for the transmitter is missing, the transmitter is absolutely useless with out the 1/4 inch headphone jack cable, the rest of the parts that was supposed to come with I could have gotten by without, as I have all kinds of cables that would work for charging the WT-1 transmitter but the 1/4 inch headphone jack cable I do not have one of those.

now I have to waist my time calling Garrett again to get yet more things sent that should have been in the box the transmitter came in, this is just plain crap in my opinion

why can't people just do the Job they are paid to do anymore, (how flippin hard is it to make sure everything that is supposed to be included with an item is in the box)

if your job is so flippin  bad that you do not want to perform medial task to insure everything is in order for when someone places an order then quit and move on to what ever friken job you want that will make you want to do what you are paid for

I am sorry and apologize to every one on DP for my rant but this is the third time now that I have placed an order with Garrett Direct and three times now things are missing that are plainly stated (Included with), and now I have to place yet another call and wait for things that should have been there to be delivered to me, yes I know Garrett will take care of it but again this is just plain crap in my opinion

  19. Personally I do not even believe this new detector is going to be called the Storm after talking to someone at Garrett, they were Laughing at me when I brought up the new so called Storm detector and they stated

(we have no clue where people got that thought in their heads, they also stated that no one in the know has told anyone what this new Garrett will be Called as of yet)

What was also stated by the person I talked to was the reference to the Storm is people in Texas use that term

(there is a Storm coming or on the Horizon, to make people aware of a huge event that is about to take place) LOL it does not necessarily mean that is what something is going to be called the STORM, LOL

Coil bolt and two washers really are for sale at Garrett.com for $10.99.  Thanks Lama!!!

That is strange I have searched the Garrett Direct website several times and those parts are not coming up for me but when I clicked the Link that @Steve Herschbach posted they came rite up

Ordered two extra sets, the shipping is kind of expensive for those little parts that could be put in a letter size envelope and sent LOL

  21. bout time Garrett came into reality

just placed an order for two sets and the shipping from Texas to Arizona $12, which is pretty high shipping fees for two little items that could be placed in a letter sized envelope, and mailed to someone one state over.

I looked online in Garrett Direct yesterday and could not find those parts no where on the Garrett Direct site

Thanks for posting the Link @Steve Herschbach appreciate it

OK, please realize these are prototypes.  However, I can tell you aside from the attachment ring in the Upper Strut of the DALAS being too large, this thing is amazing.

I wanted to do a video but it is so windy today it would have not been ideal.

So let's look at the Detector Air Lift Assist Stick and the OPTIONAL Detector Air Lift Assist Strap.
    2024-03-2810_35_42.thumb.jpg.e061490c77752f345c141242b1f4fd1b.jpg

There are four parts aside from the QWIPPLE BUNGEE on the stick.  #1 The Paddle, #2 the lower Strut, #3 The upper Strut, #4 The DALASystem Slide Clip.

#1 The paddle slips into the waistband in the middle of your back.  This has a female thread for you to screw in the lower strut to adjust to your "WIDTH"  It is very generous, and if you don't need that much excess simply saw off the excess with a hacksaw.  The entire DALAStick is made of Nylon with infused fiber glass for amazing strength.  WARNING! - DO NOT try to secure this adjustment with a screw. it needs to be able to move freely front to back.

#2 The lower strut screws into the paddle as explained above to give your the width adjustment.  I recommend you keep the rod as close to your ribs as comfortable.  This way your arm does not bump into it.

#3  The upper strut has a female thread that attaches to the male thread on the lower strut to give you a generous height adjustment.  This strut has two guide holes so when you find that perfect adjustment you use the provided drill bit, drill a hole approx. 1/4 inch deep through the upper strut into the threaded portion of the lower strut to lock your adjustment in.  WARNING!!!  Do not drill holes or secure the upper rod in place until you have put the weight of a detector on the upper strut.  You need the weight of the detector to show you what the proper height adjustment should be.   If you are very short, you may want to saw off some of the upper threaded part of the lower strut.   However you can only cut off approximately 1 1/2 inches.  The male thread you see  showing in the picture is the maximum you can cut off.

I recommend you mark all adjustments with a Sharpie so you always know where your width adjustment should be on the paddle.

    #4. The DALAStick Slide Clip.

THIS IS  A PICTURE OF THE DALAStick and optional DALAStrap (That ring where the QWIPPLE attaches will be approx. 2 inches in the production units.)

You do not have to use the strap, it is available as an optional accessory.  The DALAStick will work with your harness rig.  I do advise that you may want to mount a ring lower down on your shoulder strap.  I'll explain why in a minute.

    2024-03-2811_01_34.thumb.jpg.93f5925e9bcfa24ac2cd3a089fbef3d0.jpg

THE FRONT OF THE UPPER STRUT has two guide holes for you to drill and screw in the provided screws to lock in your height adjustment.

    2024-03-2811_03_02.thumb.jpg.b171519e5720b3317fc156437b6c99fe.jpg

The lower rod screws into the comfort paddle and can be adjusted for maximum comfort.
    2024-03-2811_02_03.thumb.jpg.522e75f74fa83215cfd9339845f6ad58.jpg

As I have mentioned before, in order for the weight of your detector to be properly redirected, the movement of the DALAStick can not be impeded in any way.  Anything that interferes with the ability of the DALAStick to move freely up and down transfers the weight to whatever is interfering with that movement.  That is why it is important that your "D" ring attachment point or "O" ring attachment point is low, so as not to impede the movement of the DALAStick to slide inside the SLIDE CLIP.  If the "D" ring is too high the DALAStick SLIDE CLIP will stop at the "D" ring and the weight will be transferred to your shoulder.
    2024-03-2811_02_28.thumb.jpg.bd01cf2249854e98fe8a6aca7cec7726.jpg

I have been wearing this around the house for three hours.  It's like it's not even there.  When you bend over it moves with you because it rotates inside the paddle.
    2024-03-2811_03_57.thumb.jpg.c81b17730688545c6a9f9695ac24b4a7.jpg

Already I can see that the "O" ring and the sleeve on the DALAStrap needs to be lowered and adjusted because it is too high.

    So it's a process.

I went outside and hooked up my GPZ7000.  LOL it now weighs nothing.  Literally nothing.  All that happens is the weight of the detector is transferred to the paddle which pushes your waistband out and away from you.  I can tell you, that once you use this, you will not be without it.  If you're someone who suffers with arm and neck and back problems; your legs will wear out before your swinging arm.

Congratulations to Valens Legacy for using the word STICK in one of his posts.

    Valens message me your address.

Your gifts are a rechargeable headlamp, The New Nugget Stalker® Nugget Stash. And Doc's Nugget Stalker® genuine cowhide nugget pouch.  No the quarter is not included it's there as a size reference.
