  5. Been there done that. Even detected with one snake gator and look everywhere for another one until i came back to the car. Sure never put another one on, was rushing to detecttttttttttttt. But as Phoenix said i carry everything with me (except kitchen sink ). I have everything spare what i need to detect, leads, batteries, cords, chargers, headphones, scoops etc We have proverb "who carry doesn't beg" Sure when you drive couple hours to goldfields you want to be fully operational. Not for this particular reason but i always detect with someone, many times in past we camp together many many of us. So plenty spare detectors or if you want to try someone else machine etc.Great socializing hobby and for me this is what hobby is about. I am so proud of this culture of detecting and of my detecting mates every single one of them. Its a care free if you forget anything or even you just turn up without any gear.Sure you will be looked after and shown the basics. Yes this is livelihood of some and many like to hunt the gold alone. For me they are very very brave people. I am sure many goldfields in USA has their changeless with all sort of things from weather condition, wild animals etc. Like here this hobby can be deadly if you forget even one little thing. So before i leave i check 3 times i have everything in.Not just detecting gears but things which makes detecting possible and bearable. Just to mention few as sunscreen, first aid kit, backtracker, gps, extra water, mozzies and flies net. I also carry many clothes to change if my socks /boots get wet. I can go on and on but i actually have a list of things i check before i leave. Its not hard to do it and just tick off before you go. Dont forget main thing -our life is more important then .anything else. Dont try to save couple dollars and neglect your own (and friends safety.) Good luck and stay safe. GoldEN
  6. Well deserved. Anyone who detect in that hot condition earns my respect. I use to do but now don't enjoy it much for long specially if humid. Great early morning start. Beautiful nugget. Hope there are few more for you. GoldEN
  7. I think is time to visit my uncle in Sacramento. Mind you he has a house on Sacramento river. Last time i visited was few years back and i was not into detecting hobby at all.( been there 4 times so far ). I spend hours and hours catching catfish from his speed boat in front of the house and skiing my legs out. Who would have thought i was probably in the best area to look around and see historical part of California gold rush. Well i know what i will be doing next visit. Good luck and hope you get few nice ones in "new goldfileds" GoldEN
  8. I am in Victoria in Australia and detected so far just in Goldfields of Golden Triangle. Might add that i havent been to many goldfields in Golden triangle either. But then its just one of my hobbies so dont spend lot of time detecting. On bucket list is trip to Western Australia.but mostly with Professional Tour company and probably one day maybe to spend couple months with couple detecting mates there. Been born in Europe i prefer ( at this stage in life) to spend my annual leave overseas instead 5-6 weeks detecting in WA or GT. One day . Good luck with your adventures, GoldEN
  9. We all been there. Stay positive is the best tool. Sometimes our "wrong choice" of places can be the best one. While you have coil on the ground and do the hours you are better off then us who are at home due to the hot weather here. Every step can make a difference.God luck and stay safe. GoldEN
  10. Very nice. Good job Phoenix. I like quartz and gold combo only. Beautiful. GoldEN
  11. Hi All just to get an idea of type of gold is found in some goldfields in Queensland, Australia.Found with 2300. Flat piece has 0.8 grams and was given as a present to me from a detecting mate Ruffles. (probably as a present i didn't go with them hihi). GoldEN
  12. Good luck. Sorry you did not get any response but you might come accros someone when detecting. If you come to Golden Triangle will show you around. Take care and stay safe, Looking forward to some nice story on the way back. GoldEN

Was fortunate to meet Kevin Hilliar and listen his story how he found Hand of Faith.Over 27 kilos in 1980. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_of_Faith Been a long time and many thousands detectors around.since. Wish you a good luck.Records are there to be broken. GoldEN
  15. HI all Was detecting with couple of friend and it was not my day.I couldn't get not even smallest nugget. Nothing.Zilch. That is quite rare for me cos on my detecting trips i rarely come home without at lest couple little ones. Well got this huge signal and here it is. Was on a surface between all other rubbish. I touch it with a pick but happy with a find.: GoldEN
  16. Hi All What is your ultimate detecting goal? What is a dream find? Realistic answers please. Is it rare coin or the big gold nugget? For me in a goldfields i would love to find multiouncer nugget. I found bigger then ounce but not mulitouncer. Personally i would try to find some nice rare coins in Europe and look for some lost treasure in the sea with a friend. GoldEN

  22. Good luck in your adventure. Sure if not patience detecting is definitely no hobby for you.It can be frustrating finding junk but then has many good benefits.Walking, relaxing in nature,Recharging bateries from rat race of city lifestyle. Whatever you decide hope and wish you success. GoldEN
  23. Great looking nuggets. Well done. Yup sometimes nuggets seems heavier or lighter.Depend how compact they are. Was tricked few times and guessed wrong. Well they are great pieces. Hope there is more for you. GoldEN
  24. Hi Steve Dont mind not at all.Its one of 6-7 i found in one hole one horribly cold and windy day.I post fe of them already mostly they all white cubes. This old timers hole is half fill up with rubbish.I was fortunate to find a first piece on top of side of the hole and then got one after another after another. Bugs me how much gold must be there originally when old timers were trowing this out. Since i been back and got none there. But plan is to clear the whole hole of rubbish(quite a task) and dig.I am sure there will be much more gold there. Looks pretty , gold is visible in all of them but they are so light no much weight in them. Another one from there: GoldEN
