yes I know what you mean, there must tons of that barren quartz out there that we have swung the coils over and as you say there's not many giving a signal that's for sure. I have been back to that area, but I couldn't find any of it's relatives.

G'day All,Jen and I went for a big walk from the vehicle, we were heading back to the vehicle and I saw some interesting looking ground and decided to detect the area on my way back. I waved the coil around a bush and heard a faint change under a couple of largish rocks. Thinking one was a hot rock I kicked them both out of the way and waved my coil back over the spot. The faint sound to my surprise, got a bit better, so out came the pick and after a few scrapes the target signal was a very positive one. Then digging some more I found I was picking into hard rock and the sound was starting to scream at me. The hole I had was a good 8/10" deep and I was having trouble chipping into the rocky bottom. I turned on my backtracker GPS and I could see I was 250mts away from where the vehicle was parked. I decided to mark my dig hole and headed back to the vehicle as I was needing a drink by this time and also I couldn't dig anymore with just the pick. Jen was already back at the vehicle I told her what I had been doing and that we need to get the vehicle up there so I can finish digging the target out. Anyway we finally got back to my dig hole after a bit of bushbashing and the time was starting to get away now. I finally got the target out of the hard rock type ground and it turned out to be a nice Gold/Quartz specie.

G'day All,
I finally broke my short drought (since the update) today, also I worked out how to get rid of those dreaded jitters I was experiencing with the GPZ. I had to adjust the threshold up to 29 and wallah the jitters were gone. The first Nuggy I found pushed the scales above the gram mark my best for a few weeks now.
The GPZ in my opinion is now the Machine that we have all been waiting for. "THANK YOU MINELAB".

G'day All,
We went out to some Laterite ground today and I decided to try some different settings to see how the new update would go. First I ran it with my normal settings with the locate patch and I couldn't fault it, just the odd hot rock sounding off. Then I decided to run it in the Normal ground mode still in the locate patch setting, with a lot more hot rocks coming through, which was expected. I also had a play with the smoothing Low & off, but found it a lot more jittery, I didn't lower the sensitivity as I prefer to run it on 18. A couple of the spots just off the Laterite, which were lower flat areas where you can see has had a lot of water running through I didn't notice whether there was any salty noise coming through (maybe I should have changed it back out of the ground smoothing to the normal settings to check it out) usually the GPZ lets me know. Once again I didn't have any luck with any yellow, but I did find some pellets and old rusty metal.

G'day All,We went out for a few hours yesterday afternoon and the first thing I noticed was, it ran a little bit jittery than normal. I had it set in the Locate Patch setting, with all my other settings how I normally have them set at. The other thing I noticed was you could swing the coil at a slightly faster speed than I normally would and I was pinging tiny bits of rusty metal and those tiny bird shot, which I usually need to slow right down and have to concentrate very carefully just to hear them. I didn't manage to find any yellow, but the way I was picking up those pesky bird shot, I have no doubts, I just didn't have the coil over any gold today. My thoughts are the GPZ is definitely running a lot better with this new version 2 update.Cheers.Mike.

G'day All,
my son in law was lent one from Coiltek in Maryborough Vic (Assie) for the W/E. He found some nice nuggies and he was surprised by the depth he was getting some targets with it also. He was using it with his GPX5000 and said it ran very stable on his 5000.
