Looking for that buckle brings up Kriegsmarine, a German navy buckle. ? Is there a sub out in that desert? ?
Fascinating find in such a place.
That's the most similar hit that came up when I tried to find it too, not sure if it's accurate as I don't think I found one exactly the same, but close. They were really lost if it's German ?

Nice buckle and I am sure that the other finds were also nice to.
Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.
Thanks!

Nice buckle Brian. What's a sailor doing out in the desert. Good to see you and Tom still kicking. I hadn't seen anything from you 2 in a while.
It is a bit of a conundrum, but a welcome find! We're still kicking, just haven't had an overly exciting hunts for a while. Hope you're getting out El ?

Did you give the Legend a turn?
Not this time, trying to figure out the Manticore ?

Thanks for your excellent review and videos.
I'm learning my Manticore and so far no "ah ha" moments, but I have a lot to learn. I do like the ATLC better than the ATHC so far.

And all I got was this buckle!
Okay there's other finds, mostly rim-fires and the usual common relicky finds. Interesting site, unfortunately a couple of our hunts where shorter than anticipated due to equipment issues or other desert challenges haha
Hopefully @Tom_in_CA will share his finds too, he made some epic token finds ?

Very cool. I could've brought home several scopes from a startup I worked at a few years ago that basically went belly up (fire sale acquisition). Did you print the case too? Nice little setup!

Kruzer was a souped up Racer 2 and the Anfibio was a souped up Impact if I remember correctly.
You could look at it that way for just the Kruzer but the Multi Kruzer was more like the Impact. I had the Impact too, and loved it, but the MMK had all the modes I used on the Impact in a waterproof, lightweight, ergonomic S-rod format with a few easter eggs the Impact doesn't have.

The brand my local Ace Hardware carries is Loctite.
On gilt, I would try lemon juice first after gently cleaning off any dirt. The Navel Jelly as a last resort on stubborn ones.
That's turned out to be my recipe as well for gilt buttons. Still experimenting on other objects.

I haul my clad to the casino in Tonopah when we go, and use that as my seed money for their [tiny] casino for our stay. I'll wash off the dirt, but I don't tumble it (I've seen mixed results from tumbling). It usually keeps me away from the ATM ? I know others that roll and deposit their annual clad harvest.

Could be a button front, or maybe a Victorian era front to a broach, hat pin, or something stamped out. IMHO it's not mission period, I think Western era or later. Maybe @Tom_in_CA will take a peek.

Just last month Monte sent out the latest update for his summer WTHO hunt, you just don't know what tomorrow will bring.

I had the pleasure to speak with Monte on the phone several times, and visit with him at one of his early Nevada WTHO trips.
He introduced us to a standardized test methodology with his nail board. Between his great stories going back to the dawn of metal detecting, along with his dedication to push the envelope forward in regards to his perusal of relic hunting, Monte was a detecting legend.
RIP Monte, you'll be missed.?-

Good comparison between those detectors, wish we could have seen the target trace on the manticore.
I was thinking the same thing, especially when they were discussing it and the red line. Still it was a very educational video.

With that said, I'm just hoping that Minelab tweaks things a bit, in an "update," that tames the falsing somewhat in ATHC, because that's the mode I'd prefer to be using, as a deep coin hunter, if at all possible...
SteveSteve I have it on good authority that there's already a field patch being tested by the beta testers that should be released in the near term. As for what it does, that I don't know exactly, but the grapevine says it'll add new features and bug fixes. We shall see...

Very interesting. I wish I knew more of what I was looking at, with those graphs/that equipment, and I wish someone could translate the Russian to English!Steve I'm out using my Manticore for the first time and referred back to this forum to check settings as I was less than impressed with the Manticore my first hunt for a few hours yesterday. I was using ATHC, and although I did try ATG a bit, I think I was mainly in ATHC. It was pretty noisy (ran it @ 28 sensitivity), and although I managed to pull a few conductors out, I was definitely digging more false positives then usual, and the noise reminded me of my F75. I'll try ATLC today.
Also you can watch that video in English, or at least w/English subtitles. From the youtube video select CC/closed caption, then go to settings > Subtitles/CC > Auto-translate Russian:English
I guess we know where the MultiIQPLUS moniker comes from now. It IS doing more than the Equinox, we just need to figure out how to harness it's strengths, and how this added frequency adds to the MultiIQ+ equation and what it means for Manticore users.

Also if you have your phone around, make sure Bluetooth is disabled on it. I had forget it was on on my iPhone, and the ML105's weren't connecting for some reason, and as soon as I disabled BT on my phone they paired right up.

Looks like a nice turn of the century? relic site! Little bit of everything, work-check, period coin, fancy, and the obligatory punishing spent munitions casings.

Looking forward to it.
Alaska is a dream trip of mine.
Same here on both accounts!
Last detector club I was in some guys went to Gaines Creek, one guy got a nugget the size of a potato! I've always wanted to detect there, even if it's just with the Equinox or Manticore, at least I know I'd have a chance to find something...maybe ?
