  1. Don't doubt that we'll see some for $175. Heck at that price I'd be tempted, although already having a Multi Kruzer would make it kind of redundant, still would be fun to play with.
  2. My first time out with the EQ800 I bagged an 18K gold ring loaded with rubies, sapphires and emeralds, it came in as a solid 14, thought for sure I was going to dig a nickel. It as my 4-5th target on my first hunt :)
  3. No Vanquish 50 tone option = no interest in the Vanquish from me.
  4. Less junk dug = more keepers in my finds pouch, I like that!!
  5. At old relic sites I've detected iron tools, like axe heads, hatchets, hoes, picks, giant spikes, and the like and they seem to come in around 13-14 on the EQ800, but the sound is dull not twinkley like a nickel or a nice sized 14K ring around that tid range would come in audibly.
  6. White's has a long history of repackaging their machines, geesh how many versions of the XLT and MXT are there alone?
  7. I forced myself to lean and only use 50 tones, because I figured if one focused on the audio, they would learn nuances and clues. Still plenty to learn, but I mainly hunt by tones, although there are certainly patterns I enjoy seeing on the TID display as well. I've seen, and recorded silver dimes ringing up anywhere from 23 - 32, that's a big spread, but they were all depths, angles, orientations, some holed, some holed multiple times, etc., and they all had one thing in common, a tinkly dig me audio characteristic. So while the TID# may not always be the same, the audio is usually telling. Certain sites seem to bring the TID#'s up or down, mineralization, depth, types of dimes (thin seateds vs meaty barbers and mercs?), tough sites with heavy alkali or other mineralization can skew the numbers in any number of ways.
  8. In some of our older sites old tools like axe heads, picks, hoes, etc., tend to ring up around nickle on the EQ800, but they have a dull'ish sound to them vs a nickle which excites the EQ800 to no end. Hard to explain, but if they can properly ID these large iron tools that would be great, although I don't mind digging them, some of them end up going home with me.
  9. Thanks gentlemen. Sunbaker eh? I've been fortunate to find a few cool sunbakers. Some of my detecting friends have eyeballed tokens, coins and other nice finds. I've eyeballed some nice jewelry drops over the years, including a nice gold panda with big ole chain a few years ago.
  10. It's tough hunting, but you can't beat the adventures!
  11. That's what I've always read, so I'm sticking with it until I find out other wise 🤔 Cal
  12. Posted on the relic and coin hunting forum, just in case the link doesn't work:
  13. Been a while since I put together a video, but over Labor Day weekend I worked a ghost town putting the Equinox 800 to the test and it didn't disappoint! HH, Cal
  14. Nice hunting there Strict, love that mis-struck penny, maybe not super valuable, but still a unique find.
  15. Whatever this ultimately turns out to be, if it uses Multi-IQ and cost $500 or less, it should annihilate the AT line, and the Simplex the ACE and AT line.
  16. Coin AND RELIC.....hmmm....if that face plate photo is accurate, gone is gold mode, so it's an EQ600? Does it share coins with the Equinox? Interesting times ahead!
  17. I for one am really looking forward to what Nokta will release when their SMF machine debuts. I for one, do not expect it to be perfect, it will be their .0 release, .0 releases are never perfect, but the fact that their taking on the challenge alone, speaks volumes. I suspect that they didn't realize the uphill battle they were taking on in pursuing this venue, but imagine a machine equal to or better then the Equinox in a high quality, lightweight physical package like Nokta (aka Makro) has released with the Multi Kruzer, Anfibio and now Simplex. I don't complain as most do about the physical package on the Equinox not being up to par, mainly because I'm VERY happy with it's performance, price point and the fact that it's water proof, plus for the first time in the history of Minelab they listened to their consumer audience and finally, made it lightweight. It's good enough, and there's plenty of after market shaft packages to perfect it if you choose. The great thing about the Nokta machines is that starting with the Kruzers, they built a great physical package right out of the gate, and if they can nail their SMF design, with their great physical packaging and keep the weight down, it'll be a homerun IMO. I use to route for FTP, but having seen nothing innovative from them for years aside from marketing spin, I gave up on them. Along came Nokta and I have been nothing but impressed by them listening to us, the customer, world class customer service, and constant improvements. Believe me, I'm not a fanboy, if I buy a machine and it doesn't work or has issues, I will voice my opinion, and thus far, for the most part, my opinion about Nokta/Makro has been quite positive. Their machines covering the same ground as many other top level machines used by both myself and some of the best detectorists on the west coast, have just performed. So with that said, I'm really looking forward to their SMF, sure the Simplex will likely be a great detector for the paltry price point, but I cannot wait to see what the SMF brings to the table. BTW given the Simplex, perhaps the SMF should be called the Duplex, Triplex or some derivative of that based on the amount of frequencies in play :)
  18. The Green wireless headphones with with the MMK Anfibio and Simplex, so I bet these would as well. Perhaps if Dilek is reading this she could verify that?
  19. Interesting that nobody has noticed the Simplex EZ Wander Wireless Module shown in the Simplex accessories page on the Nokta site. Appears to be something along the lines of the WM08 module included with the EQ800 to allow the use of any corded headphone to be used wirelessly.
  20. Nice recovery, seateds are always welcome in my finds pouch!
