  1. I checked mine this morning, it seems rock solid. So what's the point of swapping to an Anderson straight shaft when these already come on a straight shaft?
  2. Good to know. I have a Toyota FJ Cruser TRD with Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tires with Kevlar sidewalls, so should do OK. I've offr-oaded into some crarzy places in Nevada, and never had a flat yet (knock on wood) but you hear a lot of stories about flats at Rye Patch.
  3. I'm thinking about going to Rye Patch in the fall. There's a big detecting rally there each year in the fall, it's free and from what I've heard it's a great event. Probably a good way to break the ice there for me. Found the link to it for this years Rye Patch Nugget Shoot Out: http://renoprospectinganddetecting.com/rye-patch-nugget-shoot/ Interestingly I've been all over Nevada, but I've heard that Rye Patch in particular is really tough on tires. I've heard countless stories of multiple flats on one vehicle on one trip. What's up with that?
  4. Mine doesn’t feel like the 3030 either, it feels about 3lbs lighter than the 3030 I better check mine for wobble the next time I’m out and get it taken care of there’s an issue. Can’t say I’ve noticed it, but I wasn’t looking for it either.
  5. No I mean the 800. You get what three settings on the 800, spotlight bright, slightly less, and so dim it’s unusable. Sorry I’m not a fan of their backlight implementation.
  6. Yes even the lowest setting on the 800. Best backlight I’ve used is on the Nokta/Makro machines, they offer five levels of brightness. One of the Fishers (F19?) screen is red. There’s a reason the military uses red, so much easier on your eyes at night.
  7. You have a good point. I've been pretty impressed with the separation on the 11" round DD, but I sure wouldn't mind testing out a 6" coil, that thing must be like a laser in iron. Steve??
  8. On the 800 the backlight is pretty blinding if night hunting, I like the Zagg idea Dan, but am thinking about using some of my red film on the screen. Hmm...maybe do the Zagg first and then make removable red film cover out of one of the multitudes of multi-language screen covers Minelab included. So you put the Zagg cover over the factory screen cover and the buttons?
  9. Seems odd that it’s taking so long to release the accessory coils
  10. That works. I wonder why the bloody thing is so large? Honestly in this day and age of electronics, it should be about a quarter of the size, but I guess Minelab wants you to fell like your getting something for your hard earned $$$
  11. Didn't Steve say ML said May in another thread? Of course that could be shipping on May 31st from where ever they make them Kind of like when ML announced they'd be shipping in February
  12. I'm liking my EQ800 so much, that once the hoopla slows down, and ML gets caught up, and we finally start to see some people selling off their EQ600's or EQ800's at honest used prices (not price gouging due to demand exceeding supply) I may pick up a backup unit. That way no matter what fails (headphones, coil, control box, mechanical issue) you have a backup unit. There's a long thread on findmall about people sending theirs into ML for the wobble issue and apparently they are fixing it and doing so quit quickly, so even though the wobble issue should've exist in this day and age of modern manufacturing, at least their expeditiously taking care of the issue.
  13. You could probably get some Velcro with that double sided tape already attached to it and then you could "stick" the module onto your headphones and if you need to move it to something else you wouldn't have to mess with all that tape.
  14. Very nice!! That just paid for a chunk of the detector
  15. So pretty smart on Minelabs part. They saved $ on printing manuals, and by not including them in the detector boxes, likely were able to make last minute edits (heck may still be doing so and nobodies caught it yet) and where there's a will there's a way, or actually as we see here, quite a few ways for people in this day and age to have their manual in whatever format that fits their needs! Funny story, when IBM in their infinite wisdom released the first IBM PC to the public, the instruction manual was on a floppy disk. Anyone see a problem with that?
  16. Not bad at all!! What was the trash to keeper ratio? I don't beach hunt much (maybe now I will that I have an EQ800!), but am curious how much junk you had to dig to get the old coins and silver & gold? Nice start for sure.
  17. They might be sold out solely because all the allocation went to Minelab. Probably could figure out who made them by pairing them to your computer with some kind of bluetooth integration software, I'm sure it's out there.
  18. Sometimes it’s not what people say, but what they don’t say that speaks the loudest.
  19. I’d say this instance may be the time to leverage the single frequencies, go through them one at a time until you find a good one. I remember a similar experience on my F75 LTD2, and no amount of tuning would allow it to hunt next to the RR line I was trying to detect. Just think if it had five major frequencies to choose from, probably could have had a great hunt.
  20. BTW I checked fleabay last night, and see their have the same wireless module for the CTX and GPZ7000 (and their not cheap!!), albeit different model #'s. I take it, that in their infinite wisdom, Minelab made these so they will only work with the detectors they came with? In other words, the WM08 will not work with a CTX or GPZ7000, only works with the EQ600 or EQ800? If that's the case, I doubt you'll get much more then $100 for it, as likely it'll be the EQ600 crowd buying one and let's be honest, if you shop around you might be able to get an EQ800 for only $130 more then the MSRP of an EQ600....so not sure they'll go for much
  21. Good to hear! It sure would be nice to get one desert trip in before the baby comes. It might be tough to pull off though, ladies sure get cranky when their 7 months pregnant
  22. Nice going on the ring!! Steve I take it your finally thawed out?
