And how did you determine who were "small miners"? By company name or what? -

I think if that guy has 10 claims filed with BLM and he files two with the county, he has 12 claims and does not qualify for the Small Miners Waiver. He legally has 12 claims. -

Good question jasong. How do you claim land that is already claimed another person without causing a "cloud" on their claim? If someone filed over me, I would demand that they provide me with a Quit Claim of their interest. They have "clouded my Title"! I guess in your case, Steve, you take the position that they are not going to file with the BLM? -

I have 8 claims that I work enough to qualify for my Small Miners Exemption. Some quite a bit more than others. I am not 8 "small miners". Just one. Some I would work more but California has, in effect, banned mining on them. -

How Do You Deal With Claim Jumpers?
LipCa replied to Rick Watkins's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Yes, Chris, you are right. YOU (the detectorist, prospector) have the responsibility to know if there is an active claim where you are going. Especially if there are markers all over the place. -

If you can detect 20 acres in a few days and not leave much of anything, you are superman!! -
My Nugget Detecting Kit
LipCa replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I always carry several water bottles with me. I never leave them home. I think it's a good idea. If I don't drink them, the dog is always thirsty -

Two small items I carry in my pack are dental floss for repairs(Boy, is it tough!) and eye drops(more than once, I have gotten "stuff" in an eye.) -
It all adds up.. A lot bigger than the couple 1/2 grainers I fd.

Garrett Pro-Pointer AT - Waterproof To Ten Feet

I use the AT pointer all the time. Saves time and keeps me from "hitting" a good coin. -

What is the black item below the spoon and just left of the pinpointer? -
Notice that the E's and T's on the top one don't look like your decal but the A on the top looks right....

Funny how you can find a quarter oz. piece right on top of the ground and nothing else close by.

reread Steve's last paragraph again. Quartz is only one instance where cobbles can have a different nature than the overall mixture.
