  1. At first and because I had the D1 for years I made a custom program because well... I , you know, I can make a program that works better than the ones that the programmers can make. I did have some success with it. How could I not, really. They did make it idiot proof didn't they? Anyway, I went out the last couple of days to 2 farm fields that me and my buddies have hit many many times. Since there is a ton of junk iron I started with the 2 Sensitive Programs. Sens FT at first. It has -6.4 ( the manual stated the Disc is 6.8 but it's not)  Disc so I can hear EVERYTHING. Talk about sparky. Sounded like overloaded high voltage. I used it for about an hour and I like how fast it is and how there aren't a lot of loud high squeaks when it goes past iron. I have very bad hearing and tinnitus so I struggle  to hear a lot of the tones. I then tried Sens 3 tones and adjusted the tones to where I could hear them best. That was much quieter. Having the Disc at 6.8 did give me those high squeaks coming off of iron though so I had to keep checking to see if it was a good squeak or a bad squeak. Sens also has a small notch that i got rid of. I just don't feel confident with the Sens program. I keep feeling like it's by passing stuff by. Needless to say that even tho I was new to the programs and kept messing with them, they sure do work well...

If any of you use either the Sens or Sens FT let me know how you're doing with them and any tweaks you did. Much more to play with and I still haven't touched General yet.

  2. Out detecting in the woods on Saturday and the remote fell off the shaft and it hit the ground even with it being tethered with the supplied XP lanyard. Luckily I saw it happen so that was good. It seemed that the "prongs" on the lanyard "shrunk" and allowed the remote to fall off. I tested it several times before hand but it somehow failed. It may have been that it was cold out but the prongs were bent inward and not holding onto the other piece. Needless to say that the lanyard is gone and I'm ordering a better one online. No second chances for it. Just a heads up to keep checking it for yourselves.

  3. Steve... i'm not sure to make of all of that. Wouldn't I want steel to not sound off? And why 41 TID? would a good 41 still come up if the mag ground be not accepted? Oh Steve so many questions. I don't know if i can ever detect again until I know the answers, lol. Otherwise I'll be second guessing every signal and just won't know what to do. I'm in the spider web now.

  4. I just watched a video made by metal detecting NYC and the other guy that he was detecting with used that break in the threshold as an indicator of a good target. And it turn out to be was deep too. What actually does that break do? What is it blanking out on?  Without getting into specific detectors, do any of you use that as part of your analysis of a target. I do know what threshold his but never did much with it as I have very bad hearing and any other sound (or lack there of) makes it even more difficult for me to hear good signals.

    Unfortunately, yes.

It would be great to have a way to save them before the update to your computer then reload the custom programs after the update.  A bonus would be having the ability to generate, edit, and upload custom programs using the usb update interface with some sort of rudimentary Deus 2 custom program companion app on your PC or better yet via the “Go Terrain” mobile app that has been in the works since…forever.

POOP... CTX has all of that and was used years ago... how hard can it be?

  6. Chase... have you ( or anyone else) used D2 Relic in soil that isn't so mineralized? If you have to go to another program to check the iron, why don't you just use that program? What does Relic IAR do for you while relic hunting that the others can't do as well? I'm just having trouble trying to figure out it's benefits in the field vs. any of the other programs. Thanks

  7. I believe that the D2 uses IAR on 2 programs, Relic and Goldfield. But I don't understand how it works in the field. I even saw a video on it and still doesn't make sense. If any of you feel like trying that'd be great but only if you feel like it. thanks

  8. I at least made some progress. I have it working again as a stand alone. can't get it to pair. When I hold the button down while it is off to get to the 8 seconds pairing mode it vibrates at 5 seconds as if it is entering programing mode but that's it. If I continue to hold the button down nothing happens. thanks for the help though.

  9. Got out a little for the first time with the D2. I'm very happy with the big reduction in chatter over the D1. It was a real pleasure to not have to try to hear good target sounds over the squeaking of porpoises...   That flickering screen is a PITA. Hear a target, look at the screen for TID and it is gone and I have to keep sweeping to see it again. Really slows things down and I HOPE XP will do something about that. Had trouble finding things in the menus that I wanted to know what each program was set at. That is going to take some time for me to remember. It seemed that the menu on the D1 was easier to navigate. I wonder if one of you guys more versed in charts and stuff to see if anyone could make out a "schematic" tree. It would be easier for me to visualize the menu structure. I played around all sorts of settings to see how they work. I'm glad that the stock programs revert back to original settings when the machine is shut down, LOL. I never used the XY screen on the D1 but watching some of the videos I gave it a try, It did a great job of telling ferrous from non at least and I think it will help me not dig as many good sounding targets as before. Can slaw and foil still comes up as non so trying to learn if the signal is aluminum or other desirable targets will be a learning curve.   Anyone know the purpose of the Fast 40? It looks like it uses a single freq (40 dah) but what's it's set up to do? Anyway, enough for now. I'm sure that I'll have more observations as I use it more. And I'll probably get some great ideas from y'all on my post.

  10. I'm real worried about the chatter. I finally had to sell both of D1's because they just plane sucked for too much chatter. I tried everything and never could settle it down no matter where I was detecting. Watching all these D2 videos it does seem much better so I HOPE so or I'll be selling it pretty quickly. Is it much quieter than the D1 ya'll???
