I wonder what the fate of the 5000 will be once the 6000 is released. Hard to imagine what advantages the 5000 still would have to offer, other than coil options which granted could be a biggie, or the complex settings options that some may still like. For the GM, SDC, 6000 and 7000 there appears to be a sound rationale for mutual existence.

I have to differ with you on the sdc point. If the graph is correct and that is a big if, it will kill the sdc. The 6k appears all based of limited info, that it will compress very small as well. So you have a fine gold finder and backpacking size. These facts might kill the sdc.

Pretty happy with this little nug, it registered like an old button (13-15) and came out in the first shovel. Using gold mode 1, sens 22, 6" coil, tracking.

We were originally looking for goldfield relics, just sat down for a break and decided to try for some little bits of gold and got this as my second ever piece.

I dropped that while walking around. You can keep it. To big for me. Very nice piece.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but im looking at a 3500. I know its discontinued but if buying what should i try to pay at this time? Is $1000 high w a nugget finder coil? Any help is appreciated!

No worries Johnny. Old threads are just paused discussion on this forum. As for the price of the unit I am not sure what what your area price would be. You could check ebay or ask Rob as he is a used dealer he would know more then i. However if you do get it let us know. As you can see lots of people really liked that unit.

  4. Good example. The second part of the file after dirt is removed it very obvious and the type of signal I would hope it always makes. The first part would get my attention yes. However where I hunt the ground makes that very same signal including getting loud if soil is removed.

What tip can we use to discover the truth of the matter?

  5. Thanks for the info. I will have to play with some targets next time out.

Yes in example 3 I would drop thresh to Zero. I don't currently run that way. I am interested in giving it a try however.

The smooth round target signal is harder for to extract from the ground noise. What would you suggest to make it sharp more in your face type signal.

Thanks you for the detailed response JP.
