I was unaware of this being a solution! Thanks for the information. I was detecting along the sidewalk leading to an alternate entrance and in the grass around the entrance. There is a pool, and I think kids must wait there before it opens and sit on the grass. In total, I would guess the amount of grass I detected was about the size of a tennis court, maybe less. It was enjoyable, but moving a 6'3" frame up and down that many times in a short period of time in the heat of Florida is getting tougher as time goes on!

I went to a local rec center today for 1 1/2 hours. The soccer fields were closed due to chemical sprays, so I decide to hunt around the other areas I haven't hit before. On the big field I generally find very little, so I assume it really gets pounded. I still had the 11" coil on the Equinox from beach detecting, so it felt like an Exacto knife rather than the sword-like 15". Right off the bat I started hitting quarters. It seemed like I couldn't take 10 steps without hitting another. My initial goal was to search for signals in the 5-13 range. I couldn't do that due to the overwhelming amount of change in the ground. Not complaining, just amazed at how much was in the ground there. Although 42 quarters came out of the ground, I left a good amount behind so I can take my friend who is just getting into detecting. He will have a blast if his knees can handle it. I bet I covered about 10% of the ground so far. I left close to 20 dimes in the ground just because my legs were feeling it, I was being selective, and Florida's state bird was starting to suck my blood. I was using Park 1, ground balanced, 13 sensitivity (lots of interference initially), all metal, and 7 recovery.

So true! My wife and I walked the beach last night for a 1/2 hour. She then left me there so I could detect as the tide was going out. I had new batteries in my headlamp, but I believe they were good until 2017. Who knew that old batteries do not last very long? 😉 Anyway, after using my phone to light the way inside my transparent dry bag, I hit the sand with strong determination, but only found about 70¢ in about two miles of swinging. I tried the water, but after scaring a stingray away, I realized that I should not continue down that road without a better light. I tried the towel line, up closer to the dunes, down on the riffles and along the minimal cuts that were there, but nothing but a sore shoulder to show for the hours. I guess that's the difference between a good beach and a Gulf beach!

It is cool to recover one, and if you are into research, it is fun trying to track down the owner. Many of the lost rings are covered by the company with a replacement if it is lost. So, chances are that they have another ring and don't care about the lost one. Of the two I have returned, the first one (10K) I sent out of state and never heard from him after I contacted him for a mailing address. I assume he got it? He said he gave it to his girl friend way back when, and she lost it. When I made contact with the school, they didn't say it, but the undertone of their comments made it seem like he was not the best of students--as in trouble. The second one (not precious metal) was cool because his mom still lived in the area. She came to pick it up for him. He also lived out of state. (The pics are of this return back in May of 2018.) The third one ( not precious metal) was from out of state as well. I sent an email, called his work and left a voicemail, and texted his number. I never heard back from him, so I still have it. It is amazing and somewhat scary what you can all find out on the internet. With privacy rights, the schools are certainly not forthcoming with information. For this ring, I may go the route of contacting a local TV station to see if they want a story that doesn't include murder or Covid-19.

I think there must have been something soldered on at one point. I checked the hole thoroughly just to make sure I was not leaving anything behind. I found nothing else in the ground.

Out for 1 1/2 hours today to the same place and same area. About 50 ft. from yesterday's find was this "beauty". At the price of gold currently, I will take ugly gold any day.🙂 That makes 5 gold rings all found within a line of 100 ft. Same settings as yesterday except for noise cancel. 15" still rocks on the Nox!

Got out today for 2 hours and detected a spot that had been grown over by Florida vegetation. Someone came in and scraped the top layer off and cleared tons of brush. I thought I would see if anything old was there. Seeing the area was settled in the 70's, I was not expecting much. And that is what I found! I only found clad around the area where the homeless must have been. Around a blanket that remained, I found about $2 in quarters and dimes. Having exhausted that area and becoming exhausted in the 108% humidity, I thought I would try my trusty neighborhood football field again seeing the gate was opened up again. About 20 minutes into that location, I got a strong 6-7 that had that special sound to it. I flipped over the plug and had to get the camera.🙂 This is my 4th class ring , 2nd in FL at this complex. It has the date, school, name and boyfriend's name, so I'm hoping it will be able to be returned. Looks like it has been in the ground over 10 years just going off the date. It is 10K. The field continues to give up the gold and the 15" on the Equinox continues to earn its keep. I was using Park 1, ground balanced, 18 sensitivity, 7 recovery speed, and all metal. I'm including more pics for those who are not able to get out yet. I always enjoy looking at pics, so maybe others do as well. UPDATE--I got a hold of the school office, and a very helpful woman took my information. She said she would reach out to others to see if they could contact the owner of the ring. A day later, I received a text from the possible owner. I asked her about the ring, and she gave all the correct answers. Just the other day I was able to meet with the owner's sister in person for the exchange. She was very thankful and happy that someone would go to all the effort to return a ring; her smile says the same. She said she would likely see her sister this weekend. Today, I received a picture with the ring on the owner's hand. Always cool to know it was a positive thing on the receiving end. I didn't know it at the time, but after polishing it, it turned out to be white gold, my first! As an aside, I had to ask the sister about the inscription inside. She said her sister and the guy did not work out. 🙁

I use a small dry bag that when rolled up is small enough to buckle to my belt. I wear it on my back vs. front side so it does not get in the way. I have never had a problem with it leaking or coming off. I keep keys, wallet, and phone inside.

At first I hit the side of the gravel parking lot because the gates had all been padlocked to any fields. I found quarters, the large coin/token and the .925 pendant from Thailand. It was on the edge of the parking lot close to a flower patch of the neighbor next door. I moved to a new spot and in the front of the building was the .925 ring on the first dig up front. After that I saw that the field was open and went onto the kickball/small baseball field. There were a lot of quarters and dimes. This spot is close to virgin because the quarters would be gone otherwise. There is more jewelry waiting! The 15" coil impressed me again.🙂

Looks like you tracked it down! After your response, I looked up just the center cap for the Lebaron, and it is a match. Thank you to all for solving this fun mystery!

These look to be flat. The one I found has concave glass. Looks close though.

I took the15" coil off the Equinox today to try some relic hunting in a very trashy area. The 11" seems so small! I found this along an old railroad located in a city environment now. In front of the red coloring is glass. My thought is off the center of a wheel. Any ideas?

The cross is kind of like a tray that is holding some sort of metal that the gems are inset into. It's almost like solder was poured around the gems and it is holding them in. I have not seen something like it before.
