Have one. I wanted to bring the Equinox out of the stable for a run using the 15". Glad I did as it allows for faster coverage in that environment.

A dime at 11 inches down is impressive.

Florida's mild soil definitely makes this possible. The Equinox also does a great job at allowing the sensitivity to be cranked up with the 15" coil at this location. Once located, I just circle the signal. If the TID bumps up into the 30s with a slight iron sound while going around, it is likely to be a silver dime.

If you hunted trashy parks 99% of the time, would you prefer the Equinox 6" coil, or the Coiltek 10 x 5?

Im currently using  the 6", and its great in my opinion.

But I also hear good things about the 10 x 5 option as well.

Additional depth is not really a concern, as the 6" is doing a great job on depth, in my opinion.

Just wondering if the Coiltek 10" x 5" would unmask equally as well as the 6", but also allow me to cover a little more ground.

Thoughts from those who have experience with both coils please....

So as not to be redundant and have the same people repeat their excellent insights, here is a very recent thread asking the same thing: https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/19828-equinox-trashy-parks-coiltek-10-x-5-or-minelab-6/

Does storm surge predict recovery of long buried valuables for detectorists?

If there is wave action to go along with the surge. The gulf side is usually so sanded in that there isn't much to find other than recently dropped items. I'm not sure if I will be able to get out after the storm, as they are predicting 12-18" of rain in our area, south of Clearwater. Guessing it will be quite a mess to clean up.

Anyone else seeing this sort of issue?

Yes, I have experienced it as well. Solution? I'm not sure as it doesn't happen all the time. I'm thinking it has to do with interference, but shutting off my phone hasn't helped. Maybe environmental interference that is site-specific.

Have you tried the 10x5 next to the fence line yet?

Yes, it does very well in that environment. My issue with using it close to the fence is that all the broken pieces of the fence and fasteners show up as 17-18 on the TID. I mostly discriminate those by ear and hope there are no class rings buried there. Odds heavily favor the fence pieces, and my knees have a limited amount of up-downs during a hunt. I have found a couple gold pieces right next to the fence that were lower on the scale. Great coil!

  7. You did what you would want someone else to do for you without expecting anything in return. You sound like you were taught right from wrong as a youngster and how to be selfless. Thanks for helping give the rest of us detectorists a good name. Well done!

Also, were you a detective at one point? Your methods of tracking this guy down are inspirational and will help others sort out how to begin looking for someone should they find a class ring. Thanks for sharing.
