The BT 4 2 version of both these APTX LL transmitters pair up with my BT APTX LL headphones and I have used both of them successfully in LL mode with my GPX.  I use the same headphones (Miccus SR-71's) with my Equinox and GPX.  I have not tried to verify by pairing with my Equinox, but I pretty much know by ear whether I am LL or not.  Definitely LL with these. I see they are now BT 5.0 but still designated APTX LL so they should show check mark when paired as a receiver to the EQX.  Dunno why they don't.  FWIW.

Well, I'd be interested if you put them in receive mode and paired to the Nox if the + symbol would display. I have the same Taotronic 5.0, but, no symbol for APTX LL  on the Nox.  My goal is to reduce lag as much as is possible if you know what I mean.

  2. I was wondering if someone has a 5.0 bluetooth transmitter that they've paired with the Nox to see if it is actually APTX LL or not.  I have 3 models of the Taotronics TT-Ba07, 08 and 09, none give the + sign when paired to the machine. I'm not trying to use it with the Nox, but another machine. My Q-12 earbuds when paired have the + sign. I need a transmitter to use with the Q-12's for minimum lag.  Any input or suggestions would be bigly appreciated.

I appreciate it when a poster shows their junk/trash digs. It makes me take notice that one of the reasons I don't have as many good finds like I used to is because I have been too overly selective with what signals I should be digging. I really have to start digging more.

Congrats on your silver Dan !!!!!!

For the past 2 years, all I did was cherry pick for old coins and did ok in that dept. But, I've already dug more gold and jewelry than I did compared to then. My time was limited, so, I had to be more selective and utilize my time to improve my odds.  I have an opportunity as this moment to take the time and dig it all. This window will be closing at the end of the month, then I'll have to become a bit more picky.

Very nice digs Dan and well earned consider the amount of trash you removed from the lake shore.  Yes, be sure to dig those clean hit #1's as I have found some nice little goodies with the #1.

On a side note, why do you still have an Explorer boat anchor?  Yes I still have an E-Trac (sold my CTX 3030), but I exclusively use it with a 15" WOT and X1 probe.  It is my DEEP Silver machine.  Yes it too is heavy, but the ergonomics is better than the Explorer.

    Again, nice digs.

    Thanks Gerry,

I have an Explorer only because it's been chopped and looks a little different now 🙂 It actually swings better than my Nox does. It just needed a little help.

  5. I've hunted this fresh water beach the last 3 days with some decent luck. The first 2 days I hunted it with an Explorer 2 with an 8" coil, and did ok. I went back today with the Nox and did even better 🙂 My settings were:

    Park 2
    2-tones
    0-ground balance
    Disc -9 to 0
    recovery speed 4
    F2 0
    sens 20

The gold ring hit a solid 12
the 2 little pendents rang at 1...found within 6" of each other.
silver ring 5    open ring, not connected at the top
silver beads 12, I've found 8 so far
The little junk beads hit at 1

all the cleaned up silver was found with the Explorer 2

  6. I've been out of commission for the last couple of months with a broken ankle. While I was laid up, I did a couple of mods to a couple of Explorer's I bought last month. I stole the idea from Kevin(IDX Monster), thanks again!  I finally healed up enough to hobble down by a lake near my house and do some digging. I ran it with gain set at 7...16 manual sens...variability set at 10...conductive tone...fast recovery....no disc..... manual noise cancel at 1...Minelab 8" coil.

One thing I did find out real quick was how fast it is to get out of shape. Anyway, set out to dig it all and relearn the Explorer and test out the equipment. I've running the Nox 800 for the last 2 years. The chestmount setup works like a charm with no hiccups to speak of. I'm running wireless earbuds that are APTX LL and the transmitter is also APTX LL, no noticeable lag. The battery is mounted on the back of the housing and is a 12v 3000 mah power bank. I tested it and it ran for about 15 hours with the back light on, full threshold, full sensitivity, in the garage with 11"coil mounted.

I'm very pleased with how smooth the set-up works and was able to dig a couple of keepers while testing it out. The finds are from 2 outings, I found a silver ring and a silver bead the first time out and 2 more of the silver beads and another silver ring , along with the other items today. I'm thinking the silver beads were part of a bracelet or necklace as they were spread out from where I found the first one. One of them rang at 2/30 the first one 5/28, I was surprised at how hard the Explorer hit such small items. Feels good to be swinging a coil again, gonna take the monster old coin hunting tomorrow.

  7. I may have used the ML80 a dozen times, I don't care for the tone/pitch myself. I use either APTX LL wireless earbuds or the WM08 with wired buds. I carry the WM08 in my front pants pocket and run the wire down the back of my shirt, no dangling wires to fuss with. I use some $9 Panasonics I bought on Amazon that had a 80,000 user feedback and the volume is plenty loud enough for me.  In the winter I wear a  beanie to keep my ears warm. I do have a pair of Killer B's, but, I never use them.  I always carry 2 pairs of each just in case one takes a dump on me.

Interesting.  What about putting it in a hip mount that attaches to your belt?  Fisher and Minelab had some setups like that in the past, I used one when I had a Sovereign 2XS for beach hunting with the big Sunray 12.5" coil and it worked pretty well.   I'm not sure I'd want an Explorer strapped to my chest haha   Wait that sounded a bit odd.

I was going to hip mount it, but, I like having the meter directly in front of me. The chesty mount holds it nice and secure.

  9. Since I'm down and out with a broken ankle for a few weeks and have plenty of time on my hands. I decided to do a EX2 chest mount mod that I saw on You-Tube by IDX Monster, thank you sir for paving the way!! I have a bum shoulder that needs to be rebuilt next year, I needed to adapt my machine to extend my hunting time until then. I used a Teknetics S-rod for the stock 11" coil and a White's MX5 S-rod for the 8" coil.
I'll be using a Go-Pro chesty to mount the control head and I bought a 3' extension cable to connect the control to the coil. I cut the battery housing from the handle, but, I have a more compact and lighter battery pack on the way. I ordered a 1/4" stereo headphone jack from Amazon and will run my phone cord under my shirt to keep it from getting in the way.
This set-up is as light as feather to swing and I can't wait to heal up and take it on it's maiden voyage.
