Potential Problems Using A Dust Cover In The Summer
Dan(NM) replied to Dan(NM)'s topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
After it cooled down, I was unable to adjust the iron bias setting. I did a factory reset and that took care of the issue. -
I was hunting today with a rain/dust cover on the Nox, in 100-101 degree temps with the sun directly overhead. After 20 minutes my audio starts cutting out and sounding erratic. I notice my screen is looking bizarre, as you can see, every icon was lit up and there was no way to see a VDI at all. My first thought was the cover was acting like a greenhouse and causing the housing to overheat. After about 10-15 minutes of taking it off, things began to look normal once again, within 30 minutes, completely back to normal. I have a Zagg cover on the screen, so, no dust cover for my machine during the summer months.

Thanks for the links Steve.

I haven't been able to hunt with my Nox 800 much in the last 8 weeks and only hunted with it a few times when I first got it. So I'm sitting on the sidelines until we get the house ready to sell. What is the consensus on high conductors, Park 1 or 2? Since many out there are getting in the field much more than I, what's your experience on deep silver and copper? If this has been answered before, a link to the thread would be appreciated, thanks..

My first guess would be a bad coil, you might call Minelab first thing Monday morning and explain what's going on. That's a real bummer!!

What are your settings?

Although I'm not a water hunter, that is good news. Hopefully that means the 6-inch coil is not too far behind.

6"x10" Coil For Minelab Equinox
Dan(NM) replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I went back and reread what you had written Steve. I understand now what you were saying. I guess I got a little too excited thinking that we had a answer to the lower rod situation. Thanks for the clarification. -
6"x10" Coil For Minelab Equinox
Dan(NM) replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Let me get this straight, are you saying that the lower rod from the Gold Monster will fit the Equinox middle rod? Or that the coil from the Gold Monster fits the Equinox lower rod perfectly. -
No it's not, the other 2 on the machine are the USB connectors if there ever is an update needed.

I was going to wait until the 6" coil came out to hunt this spot. My buddy and I decided to go ahead and take our Nox's out and give it whirl anyways. This is one of the most iron polluted places I've hunt with the Nox and it did very well considering we had the 11" coil where you really need a much smaller coil. This was my buddy's second outing with the Nox and he actually did a great job adapting to it under the circumstances. I was running Park 1, 2 tones, recovery speed 7, iron bias 0, tone break set from -9 to +8 with low tones assigned to this bin, high tones from +9 and up. Ground balance set to 0, sensitivity set at 18. I was using a new pair of APTX earbuds that was more than fast enough with no lag at all. This machine is unreal in the iron, I had zero problem with the iron giving false signals, which I think it had to do with the iron on or near the surface and the soil was bone dry. It may be a different story if I ever hunt it after a good rain. Even though there was a nonstop barrage of low tones, when I did hit a digable target there was no doubt about it. I was surprised at how well the Nox hit with consistent VDI's, not that I was going by the numbers, but, it was rather impressive anyway. My buddy and I both noticed that we were digging deeper hits with the Nox than we did with the Etrac or the CTX in this spot.

Eq 6" Coil - Coming Soon To A Minelab Dealer Near You!
Dan(NM) replied to Cal_Cobra's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
There's a WM08 for sale on eBay, the guy said they retail for 259.00. I'm not sure where he got that price. -

Do you mind if I ask who your dealer is? I just called my dealer and he hasn't heard a word yet. I hope they get on the ball in short order and get this thing going. -
Eq 6" Coil - Coming Soon To A Minelab Dealer Near You!
Dan(NM) replied to Cal_Cobra's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I sure hope that's true, I had set aside 299.00 for the 6-inch coil and an extra 50 bucks for a lower rod. That would be excellent if it's within that time frame. -

Excellent variety of finds, that's a great hunt!!

Stopped at a park yesterday because I saw they had removed some grass from an area. First target within 3 minutes was a 56 rosie, the only coin in the spot. I went to the zoo today where they had dug up an old dead tree, only target within 5 minutes was a ugly old Merc. I was running Park 1, 2-tone, tone break set at 23, recovery 7 and iron bias 1 It was great to swing faster than I ever could with the CTX, I had to cover ground fast because my time on both days was very limited. Both dimes were hitting at 26-27 and were very shallow.

Zagg Clear Screen Protectors For The Equinox
Dan(NM) replied to Dan(NM)'s topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
This was cut from a scrap piece I had left over from putting some on the CTX, I'll replace it sometime soon with the full pieces I just bought, but, it's not an issue since I also use the Deno's cover. Pealing the Zagg off is no issue, I've done it a couple of times before without any problems. -
Zagg Clear Screen Protectors For The Equinox

Zero air bubbles with the Zagg, it's a wet application and goes on very easy. I always wet the surface and the Zagg, makes it go on smooth. -
Batteries Replaceable By Users - Minelab Email...
Dan(NM) replied to SittingElf's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I've had my battery out a couple of times taking pictures, I have to say, you'd almost have to go out of your way to screw the seals up. But, I'm sure someone could find a way to damage them if they weren't paying attention to how the pod goes back in. -
Zagg Clear Screen Protectors For The Equinox
Dan(NM) replied to Dan(NM)'s topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
That was the original plan, but I screwed up the Minelab cover in the process. And yes, I covered the entire face plate with the Zagg. The Nox faceplate was easier to cut a template for than the CTX or the Etrac. -
Equinox 800 Wireless Phones Made By Miccus?
Dan(NM) replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I sold my Minelab wireless phones after using them once. No where near as crisp and sharp as running my Killer B's thru the WM08. They sounded muffled or hollow to me, but, that's just my opionion. -
I picked these up this past week for my Equinox from E-bay for $5.99 for a pack of 3. The size is perfect for the Nox, simply cut to fit and a great way to add extra protection to the entire face of the 800 or 600. I've been using the Invisible-Shields for the last 3 years, they work like a champ, almost completely scratch proof. These are a very inexpensive way to save your screen and touchpad from getting jacked up. I thought I'd pass this along.

I've hunted along railroad tracks and have had the same problem with the CTX. My first instinct would be dropped the sensitivity down and then run the recovery speed up. If everything is shallow, then you don't have to worry about losing depth with the higher recovery speeds.
