  1. Hunting an old park/public ground. Got a little variety 10,15d,18 wheats, 18d Buffalo, 02 Indian and an 02 barber dime. Everything was in that seven to eight inch range except the last coin I dug which is not pictured. I was heading for the car and got a deep coin signal it was barely audible but consistent with a four way hit. I’m thinking alright I’ve got a deep old coin and possibly another barber dime. I called my friend over and told him I had a deep coin signal. I couldn’t believe it. The coin was very deep and when I got it out I just said “well crap”. It was a memorial penny. How it got there…who knows but it sure busted my bubble. lol I was running the Legend in park 1, 60 tones, G disc pattern and 29 sensitivity. The Legend is proving to be a very capable and fun machine to use.
  2. Yep, I really like how a deep coin sounds on the lower recovery speeds.
  3. That’s exactly what I’ve been using with the G disc pattern. I’ve been finding deep coins as well as finds (coins and tokens included) in the iron. The recovery speed is the only setting I’ve been playing with.
  4. Right now, I`m feeling the same way about the iron bias setting. I`ve been digging a lot of nonferrous targets with nails in the hole. Your confidence in a machine really grows when that happens, and it happens quite often. I was very excited with the Legend after the first hunt. I have 31 hours in now and it just keeps getting better. My GREAT old number one machine is on the shelf. The Legend is hanging in the number one spot now!
  5. George, I have just a quick question on the disc pattern you`re referring to. Would that be the G disc pattern? It looks like a 6 in the window. I`ll set it up and give it a try. I also want to mention that I dug a cool token the other day that was giving a lot of nonferrous one way on the ferro check. It was after reading your post that made me decide to check those type signals out. Thanks! Tom
  6. Jeff, Thanks for the updates! Your results are right in line with ours. My son and I are both very happy with the Legend. Tom
  7. F350Platinum, I think those reeds come from a concertina. I used to think they were accordion reeds but found out they’re from a smaller hand organ or concertina. Cool finds and nice review. I hunt a lot of old schools and churches so I have quite a collection of them myself. lol HH! Tom
  8. My son did ours and he watched one of the videos on utube. He said it’s very specific about when to plug the cords in. Good luck!
  9. Sweet!! Awesome find! Congrats! Good to see the Legend pulling stuff like that out of the ground.
  10. Strick , Nice review! I have for the most part been taking the Legend to similar type locations and while the finds haven’t been the greatest it’s been performing very well. I have a friend who got the deus2 and the better depth he was very impressed with as well. His thoughts were after you’ve hammered a spot with the deus1 you will get some more targets with the D2 but you’re not gonna fill a bucket with them. I’m finding the same kind of results with the legend going to spots I’ve hammered with the equinox and D1. Someday I could see me owning a D2 just because I want every advantage I can get lol. But, the D1, Equinox and now the Legend are all very capable machines and fit my style of hunting very well. I’m thinking for now I’ll just keep all three cause I know each one will find me some treasure! 😁
  11. Yep, it’s just not the same as in the wild.
  12. On several occasions I really struggled to pinpoint a good target that was in a bed of trash. Twice I had to re-dig plugs because I had missed the good target (coin) so badly that it couldn't be recovered otherwise. I assign that to the coil being too large for that amount of trash - it just wasn't possible to isolate some targets effectively. Here’s something for you to try. (If you’re not already doing it) When picking a target out of trash make a mental note of the good sounds location as you go around the target . You should be able to see the spot it’s coming from after going around it. Might make two or three trips around…they’re short trips. lol Don’t use the pin point just dig the spot you hear the good sound at. I think you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to locate it without using the pin point feature. A good example of what I’m referring to would be to watch super freak going around a target in trash then just digging it right out. I know he’s visually seeing that targets location while swinging over it as he makes his circle. Watch his coil movement as he locates the good sound. Hope that helps. It really does work. Good luck and HH!
  13. GB, I think maybe I should have just said the Legends preset iron bias setting didn’t keep me from finding good targets in the iron (that seemed to be what a lot were concerned about on a preset iron bias) but for what ever reason I was able to find more non ferrous targets in an area that I very meticulously hunted in the past. Maybe it just separates better. Who knows why, certainly not me. I’m one of those guys that could care less about how the machine works which frequencies are used and so on. All I care about is it’s performance and if I’m finding good targets. I’ll leave the rest up to the people that make them. We did do the update to ours before we ever hunted with them and so far they have shown to be a very capable machine. I only had a very short time to hunt this morning but I’ll be going back and see what else pops up. asap Thanks for the reply! Tom
  14. I’ve been watching and reading about iron bias just trying to figure it out and what benefits it might have and so on. I started playing with it on my equinox. I’ve got quite a bit of time on the equinox and settled on fe3 back shortly after they came out. Recently I thought I’d play around with it some and see what happened. Well, I wasn’t really to impressed with it and have since gone back to what I know. Original fe3 which from what I’ve gathered isn’t much iron bias at all. I don’t dig many bottle caps at all and if I dig big iron it’s because I’m trying to make a bad sound into some thing or hoping there’s a good target mixed in. I’m really not expecting anything good but I dig a lot of holes just to see what the sound was. Now I’ve got the Legend with a preset iron bias. I really didn’t know what to expect but they said “try it out “ so I did. I’m not sure where or how it’s set but I’ll tell you after this mornings hunt I doubt I’ll do the iron bias update. I went to an old farm site this morning that we have hunted a lot. Non ferrous targets are hard to come by and yes there is a lot of iron. I’ve personally hunted it with the deus and equinox and the area I hunted today has been walked over a bunch. I dug ten non ferrous targets and was just over thirty feet from the car. It was like it hadn’t been hunted…almost lol I guess the use it, set it, hunt it and learn what it’s saying has worked for me on the equinox. I don’t change the settings much at all now. I’m thinking the legend might be the same way. I’m no expert but I do find a few things. Love this hobby. Thanks for reading. Good luck and HH!!
  15. Yes! It was a very enjoyable day. I think the Legend has features from the Equinox and the Deus plus more. It’s a really cool machine!
  16. Josiah had a lot more finds than I did. Oh, he usually does. lol
  17. Hunted in park 1 G disc pattern, set the first tone break back to 8, sens at 27 and 60 tones. I ran different recovery speeds but probably 7 & 8 mostly. Really like the way it feels in my hand. Swung it for 4 hours and no wrist problem at all. The tones were really nice. Our first stop was an old farm house location. They had previously grazed cows on the field so the grass wasn’t to tall. It didn’t take long to find the location of where the house was. My sons first coin was an 1873 shield nickel his second an 1893 V nickel. Those were our only coins. We did get several relics like you would expect from an old farm house. The second stop was another old farm house location that I had previously hunted. Josiah got a wheatie and I got a 1903 V nickel and a 47 Jefferson. A few other relics were found there as well. Our third stop was the testing spot. An old church location that we have hunted, our club has hunted and who knows who else. The old coins are deep and that’s what we wanted to see about our new Legends. Would they find us something there? That was the question. I honestly didn’t expect to but hey ya never know. The church yard is small and it’s been gone over a bunch! I set the recovery speed at 1 there with everything else the same. We only found one coin a 1915d wheatie but the Legend didn’t disappoint at all. I called my son over to go over it with his Legend and he looked at me and smiled. That sounds good he said. The depth meter was pegged and it was that sweet sound. I pulled out the plug cleaned out the dirt, swung back over it and it was still in the hole. I dig out some more and put my pin pointer in the hole. It was right in the center of the hole! I got out my small digger and proceeded to remove smaller bits of dirt and kept removing it. I use a trx pin pointer and it was all the way down flush with the ground and the coin was still in the hard dirt. The next few scoops removed the coin. I was grinning from ear to ear the Legend picked out a solid 10” coin with no problem. 😁😁😁 I swung the Legend a good four hours today total and was thinking at the end of the day this very well might be my new go to detector. Only one hunt but we’re both really happy with them. Looking forward to getting out with the Legend again! Thanks for reading! Good luck and HH!!
  18. Just think if you’d have kept the coin you wouldn’t have this wonderful story to share. Thanks!
  19. Jeff, Thanks for the report! Prayers for your mom. 56 was a good year and hopefully I’ll catch ya in a few months. Looking forward to more info. Thanks again! Tom
  20. I would like to talk a little more about the test. The deus1 did hit the target with a two way swing and the equinox would only hit it one way until I stopped and wiggled it over the dime. The good tone and numbers would cause me to try and zero in on the target. The equinox gave the better vdi numbers but having said that now knowing what numbers the D1 gives when locating a target in close proximity of iron I’ll be digging those signals. Before the 01’s and 02’s I always wrote off as big iron and will still do that but the 04’s and higher where I can distinguish two targets I’ll be digging. I guess I don’t care what numbers the machine is giving so long as it’s telling me to dig and both machines told me that.
  21. That’s why I have my small coils. I still use the larger ones when ground coverage or depth are my main concern but the 5X10 is on the equinox most of the time. Like you said there are just so many different scenarios in the ground it would be impossible to duplicate them and they’re “in the ground “ verses air tests. I think there’s a lot more to that than we know.
