  1. Talk to different dealers and see if they’ll make you a deal on one or look at a used one with warranty. Put a post up you’re looking for one. Who knows you might get a good deal. Good luck! Be patient…at least for a while. lol
  2. I used fiberglass/superglue then high strength epoxy over that on the coil ear repair on my 11” equinox coil. Still going strong. I did both sides of the broken ear and just the outside of the other one to ensure the shaft would still fit. (Thanks to who ever it was that suggested that before I did both sides) It’s on a post here somewhere. I think yes if you’re worried about one breaking to reinforce the outside with a layer of fiberglass would definitely strengthen them. If they’re not broke one of those deals that you can just slip on the ears seem to work very well too. Good luck with what ever you decide.
  3. Equinox 600. You should be able to pick up a used one in your budget or be really close. I’ve owned a lot of the detectors you mentioned and the f-19 or g2 plus (same machine different shaft) would be ahead of any of the others for me if I was having to use one. The only thing wrong with the 600 is it’s not an 800 lol. But having said that it is a really good detector and in my humble opinion a better deal for your money.
  4. F350Platinum, Just bought a pair. Thanks for the review. I’ll see which ones I like best, these or the ml80’s and have a back up pair. I pair up my ml80’s the same every time and they pair up instantly. When I turn the machine on as soon as it beeps I turn on the headphones at that same moment. The bar stops going around on the screen and you then hear the machine start up sound in the headphones. Works every time. Look forward to trying these out. Thanks again, Tom
  5. Back over to the area we found the relics at before. Three different spots more stuff. My son got similar to what I’m posting along with an 1859 Indian and half a powder flask.
  6. Thanks Joe, I think all the odd ball ones came from yards in town. The majority have come from old schools or church’s. A couple come to mind. One gave me nineteen and another gave me and my hunting partner over twenty total. (that was on several trips to each location) I think a lot of the earlier hunters were looking mostly for silver and the Indians were over looked. Who knows? Plus and maybe the most important we kept going back.
  7. Thanks! I’m not sure what they call themselves🤔 but I reckon Tome2sons is the chief. 😁
  8. Cal, I sometimes think about who stuck that 1889 penny into that machine. Was it a little boy or girl. Perhaps maybe a dad taking a souvenir home. Who knows? They were both found in yards here in town. Tom
  9. This is my dug Indian heading Penny collection. It’s been a long hunt and still going but I sure like finding them. Especially the really nice green ones! All in the book are my wild finds except the two flying eagle cents. It makes my day when I find one that I don’t have yet but that doesn’t happen to much any more. I have a few special ones lol like the 1/4 Indian, the shot Indian, the earring or necklace Indian the railroad track Indian and two world’s fair Indians. It’s a fun hobby! Gotta love those Indians! 😀 HH and thanks for looking. Tom
  10. Rick we’re kinda silly here sometimes. That was a wet snow and it really collected on the coil so that hunt didn’t last much more than an hour. The ground hadn’t froze yet so digging wasn’t a problem. The coldest I’ve detected was 19 degrees and the wind was blowing like crazy. There were three of us. The ground did have a small layer frozen that day but we were finding some old coins and relics. lol I will say on that particular day the my machine did start to act funny after a while out there. It must have been time to quit. lol
  11. Congrats on a really cool find! Continued good hunting this year.
  12. Cal, I’ve had mine for a while and at first I was a little worried about the depth I have since figured out it’s very respectable although not as deep as the 11”. I run my 11” almost all the time on 7 recovery speed. What I’ve found is that the 5x10 likes 5 recovery speed to still get the separation and depth that I’m looking for. Yes , I’m glad I have it and use it a lot but I also still use the eleven. The location, ground conditions and all that kind stuff dictate which coil goes on. Cal, I think you’re going in with a real sense of what to expect from the replies given and I believe it will accomplish what you’re wanting to use it for. Good luck! HH! Tom
  13. What’s that say if you’ve set the mark that others try to be as good as or possibly better. To me it says you’re a darn good machine. I see things on the Deus2 that were already here like smf, water proof, target id at depth, bottle cap reject, better audio sounds. I already have all that but it’s good to see the competitors stepping up to the next level and putting out a machine that could even be better in some areas. I know the Deus is faster I own one. I know the Deus2 is waterproof deeper but that makes no difference to me but it will a small percentage of the market. Rain proof is all I need. The lighter weight of the XP machines I like but have no trouble swinging the nox. I’ll need to see enough real world wild targets hit by one that the other one doesn’t see for me to warrant a change. I watch a friend I hunt with dial his Deus in while we’re hunting to get the max performance out of it and the same with his equinox. So I want someone that will dial both machines in to get their best performance possible then make a determination. The Deus nor the Equinox became bad machines all of a sudden. They’re both top of the line machines and I already own both and use both. The videos of the Deus II look very promising and it could become the new #1 all purpose machine. That wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all but already owning and very happy with the machine the others are copying I’ll be content for a while and watch. Jmho, Tom
  14. I didn’t hear or I missed what the solution consisted of. It’s obviously something that eats away the corrosion but doesn’t harm the coin. I was just guessing at what might be one of the components. Might be helpful to us to use on our coins if we knew.
  15. I’m going to guess a solution using muriatic acid is what they’re soaking in. That’s what you would use in the pool to lower the ph. When he referred to getting the proper ph is what made me think it could possibly have muriatic acid in the solution.
  16. Cal_Cobra, This is one of those topics that I normally keep silent on for fear of being chastised by the experts. lol But, oh well. 😁 I’ve used the lemon juice on some buttons that warranted it and I think it does help. But only after I’ve used a little dish soap, water and tooth brush. But the button condition is the main determining factor on what’s done to it. You’re right about cleaning some coins. A two cent piece comes to mind. I was glad I took a photo right after I dug it because what little water and tooth brushing I did on it made the date almost disappear. lol One of the guys in our club uses one of those pencils you spoke of and he really likes it. His words were “it’s my coin I’ll do with it what I want” and I recon he’s right. I made a mistake on a coin collecting site saying in a post I cleaned my coins off after I dug them. Oh my! That was a mistake. I posted a pic of a nice seated dime I found and I was bombarded with everything from there’s no way you dug that to you ruined the value completely. I’ve learned that no matter what you do as to how careful you are with a silver coin that’s been in the ground very long it has environmental damage. It’s just there so I don’t worry about any rubbing the dirt off any more cause the coins already damaged before I ever dig it. The glass doesn’t lie it’s there. I still use dish soap, water and a tooth brush mostly but again not on everything. I also soak some in mineral oil and use a tooth pic afterwards. (This doesn’t seem to remove any green off the Indians) Baking soda on silver will shine it up. lol (I wouldn’t do that on a key coin.) The one thing I’m for sure about is I don’t worry about it anymore. I clean the ones I want. I leave as much patina on others as I want. I think maybe relics are something a guy would want to make sure on before he worked them over but the coins unless you’re rubbing off details or it’s a key coin probably doesn’t matter much. Good luck! I’m sure there’ll be some good advice from some of the guys or gals here on what works best for them. HH Tom
