Tekkna For The Deus 2, First Impression (updated 3)
ColonelDan replied to F350Platinum's topic in XP Deus II Forum
Another good job. Good report on Tekkna. I’ll be experimenting with that program at some point even though I don’t do a lot of land hunting. Soldier on Bob….👍🏻😊 -

Good run there Bob. After the rain would be a perfect time to try "Gekko" based on General or Relic. 👍 -

I had the same experience one very hot day in the Keys. Removed the cover and in a few minutes, all was back to normal. -
Tekkna For The Deus 2, First Impression (updated 3)

Great report soldier. 👍🏻. I’ll have to experiment with those settings but I’d like to try them using a modified General program using its conductive soil subtraction capability…just on a lark. -
A Dozen Buttons And A Silver Shock!
ColonelDan replied to F350Platinum's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Those fields you have access to and how productive they obviously are tells me they were virtually undetected until you got there. Then considering the size and number of them, they’ll keep you busy for a lifetime of wonderful hunting! 👍🏻😊 -
Go Small Or Go Home Pt. 2

Nice piece of history and a very nice piece of research ! -
Chase, yes on both. It’s easily installed and I’m leaving the antenna in place on my second D2. 👍🏻

Why was I so late in seeing this post??? 75 year old brain I guess. Yet another excellent hunt. You're finding more Spanish silver in that field than we're finding along the Treasure Coast these days. 😅

Steve, that’s great news. Now the mount will be bulletproof 😊

I took my Deus II, outfitted with the RCdigs mount, to the beach for its first use in the real world and it definitely lived up to my expectations! The pragmatic side of me says that the secure attachment to Steve Goss’ shaft is the best part of the mount…and that’s true. Its primary purpose is to ensure that the controller does not and cannot fall off the shaft. To that end, it’s a great design and fulfills its primary mission perfectly. The controller will never become accidentally detached from or knocked off the shaft…period. However, my personal favorite part of the digs mount is the tilted angel of view. I love the fact that when I look down at the screen, it’s looking directly back at me! I can easily see both the large and small TID numbers without turning or tilting the screen as I did with the factory mount... and all the buttons are in easy reach. Perfect. As for after operations clean up and maintenance, removal of the controller from the mount is quick and easy. Just unscrew the two thumb screws which attaches the top of the mount to its base and the controller comes right out. If you want to remove the base from the shaft, just unscrew it…Slick. One suggestion, I applied anti-seize compound to the threaded area to prevent galvanic corrosion between the stainless steel screws and the brass inserts. Yes, it does add a little bulk but it’s insignificant compared to the obvious benefits the RCdigs mount provides. I’m getting a second one for my other Deus II that I use for water hunting with antenna easily installed in the digs mount as soon as they’re available. Both will be permanent fixtures. Again, great job Steve and Ryan….

Bottom line up front: A superior accessory. Perfectly designed for securing and viewing the controller. I had the opportunity to evaluate the newly designed RCdigs mount that was made especially for Steve Goss’ Deus shaft. In short, I’m very favorably impressed. So much so that I’ll be contacting Steve to order a second one….the digs mount will be a permanent part of both my Deus II systems. Build Quality. My first impression upon unboxing it was how solidly it was constructed. Nothing like you might expect from those 3D printed items. This thing was built to last and function flawlessly as intended. The edges are smooth, the fit and finish are truly professional in every way. Design. The design was obviously conceived by someone who actually detects with a Deus II. Imagine that! I needed a left swing design so Steve and Ryan (the maker) quickly accommodated me with one of their prototypes for evaluation purposes. I could tell right off the bat this mount was extremely well thought out. The mounting end is threaded just like Steve’s regular mount with the exception that the digs mount was manufactured with a channel in the threaded area to accommodate the Deus antenna for underwater hunting. This channel was an inspired idea in my view. You can thread the antenna up through Steve’s shaft, lay the running end in the channel and then screw in the digs mount effortlessly. You can then feed the running end up through the mount and secure it using the top section of the digs mount which is secured with two knobbed thumb screws. Ingenious. Speaking of water hunting, the top and bottom are of a “mesh looking” design which allows water to drain efficiently. Functionality. In the field, I can tell you that the controller will never fall off again…bank vault secure! I also found the tilted design enables the controller to face you directly. Much easier to view the screen without having to tilt the Deus itself as I did in the past to reduce any screen reflection. The whole thing was very comfortable to view and reach/manipulate the Deus buttons. I initially thought this mount might be a bit cumbersome adding weight and bulk to the sleek Deus system. Yes, it does add a minuscule amount of weight and the controller area is larger than the controller alone but not enough to cause any concern whatsoever. In fact, I can honestly say that I hardly noticed the weight as the overall balance negates any perceived additional weight. The benefits of perfect security and viewing angle far outweighed any downside I only imagined before I actually used it. Summary. The digs mount, as designed jointly by Steve and Ryan, is a wonderful piece of kit that provides excellent security for the controller, enhanced viewing of the screen, better internal antenna design and enhanced ease of installation and use overall. As I said, I’ll be contacting Steve for another digs mount very soon! Great job guys…..

Two Days, Two Hunts, One Short One Long
ColonelDan replied to F350Platinum's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Great hunt once again....good job soldier. 🫡 I'll be testing my rcdigs left swing mount today. I have it mounted with antenna and can say, even at this early point, I'm very favorably impressed. Full report to follow.- 12 replies

My set up is similar to Chase’s rig. I keep the 11” on both my water D2 and my beach/land D2 but I always have the 9” at the ready. My remotes are mirror images of each other so I can swap them out seamlessly. I’ve never used the WS6 as the master and don’t intend to. Works for me….
