Got My Nox 800 Today Two Coil Questions?
staffydog33 replied to midalake's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
The only fault---if you can call it that----the coil cover needs to be greater in depth to cover completely. Maybe this will be looked at shortly by M/L or an independent manufacturer. Other than that small point, I am pleased with my 800. -

2 Equinox 800s Slamming It At The Beach!
staffydog33 replied to staffydog33's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Forgot to add-------personal message with an unusual name inscribed inside the large ring. Will do a local search and hopefully re-unite with the owner. -
Went out with my Father yesterday, for a couple of hours to a local beach. Both with our Equinox 800s. No gold, but bear in mind, this is a UK beach, so not exactly the Treasure coast in Florida...lol. I got a shed load of coins....all modern and a heart-stopping bracelet RAM PACKED full of diamonds.....but turned out to be fake! GRRR!! My Father, however, truly showed me how it's done, by also getting lots of modern coins, but also 2 x .925 perfect condition Sterling silver rings!! It's safe to say that the Equinox 800s are definitely doing the job! See pics of his rings.... Nice one. Matt

It takes 5 seconds to take the coil cover off and another 5 to rinse it under the tap. Job done. Matt.
-
I just turn on all metal and pump the coil. Tells me straight away if it's a bottlecap.
-
I got lots of gold here that rings in the 12-19 range....so i would be losing a LOT of gold with that discrimination. Matt
-
The louder and higher pitched the pinpoint is, the shallower. I ignore the depth meter now and go by squeal...lol Matt
-
.....what he Just said ? Matt
-
I made my own shaft and handle using a hard plastic shaft from an old shovel...plus made a grab handle from a hospital crutch...lol. Sounds mad...but works perfect. I will add some pics shortly. Matt.

Do you think the Equinox is trying to read over 40 on the VDI...but because it is limited to a maximum of 40....that's why it cant give a signal on it? Minelab obviously see it as a problem as they have personally replied to me in an email and said the engineers are seriously looking into it. Matt.
-
Yup, I 100% agree on that, Steve. Matt
-
Phew. Why do you reckon its having a bit of trouble? Coz its limited to a certain VDI on the Equinox and the machine is trying to read higher or something? Sorry for my lack of forensic analysis there...but, hopefully you know what i mean...lol. Say for example if the VDI on the Equinox was 0-99 do you think it would then be hitting with zero probs or something else? Cheers Matt.

Ok...so what are your thoughts on this newest video with silver coins laid flat? Cheers MaTt.

I Admit That I Am Stumped And Now Seeking Help
staffydog33 replied to Randy Dee's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
If you are using the nox dude...you will have to dig everything coz a LOT of good targets like gold and a lot of coins show up exactly the same and sound exactly like bottlecaps. Ive learned to accept its a dig everything machine. Matt. -
Dude...why so defensive? I love my Equinox and am 100% keeping it. Im just saying that in my opinion, in beach modes it should hit big silver. Hey, maybe i am wrong, perhaps its not designed to hit high conductors right under the coil. I was just confused why my mate's AT Max gives consistent good tone and Id when on edge and so do both my other machines, but Equinox doesn't. If i had a choice to only keep pne machine...i would still keep the Equinox and happily bin the others. Trust me...i love my Nox and to get me to not use it somebody would have to shoot me in the face and prise it from my corpse...lol. I just wish Minelab would have opened up the VID a bit as the numbers are all grouped into the same small bunch on so many targets. 0-99 would have been better, but there we go. I will and am learning to live with it and love it. Its a good machine...just have to pretty much dig everything. My apologies for saying it how it is and voicing my opinion. Anyway...theres been a mini storm Hector here in parts of the UK...and even though it's 11:18pm and pitch black out...im off to the beach. Guess what im taking? My Minelab Equinox 800....wahhoo. Please god...let the weather have stripped 6ft of sand off the ? Matt.?⚡

But don't you think the Equinox not seeing a huge 1oz coin directly under the coil is an issue? Park 2 and field 2 hits it...but beach 1 and 2 does not. I'm primarily a beach hunter and surely a machine which was said to be good on the beach and has 2 beach modes should be able to see a big silver ring and a big silver coin under the coil in these modes? My X-Terra and Deus hit them at all angles in any mode with consistent VDI...but in beach mode Equinox does not. Surely this is an issue?? Matt.
